Thanks I just ordered a Fish aquarium pump for my blow off on my older second Scrollsaw and I love my foot switch on my Dewalt 788 . So when I hook up my new pump for the dust blow I'm planing on putting a foot pedal switch and wiring the pump up too the switch too on the old Craftsman too . Sometimes it's nice to have someone massage my brain ! Great idea too
Marshall Border thanks! I hope it works out great for you!
Looks like your using an on/off switch rather than a variable speed switch for your scroll saw. I'm new to scrolling and wondered whether to go variable speed or not . . . what's your view on that ? I also bought 'the worlds smallest blower' that works on usb as my air blower for the scroll saw as it didn't have one. It's really cute and can be plugged into its own little power pack which I also use for my 'worlds smallest hoover'. . both brilliant little gismoes !! Enjoyed your video, thanks.
Can you do a video exactly how you made your foot pedal splitter
The exact one I have at my school!
I love this idea. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! You’re welcome!
You are a rock star!! And you have a great name!!
Lol Thank you! ❤️
GENIUS!!!!!! Thank you!!
Very cool
❤
Now that is a great idea with the vacuum attached to the pedal. I will certainly apply that to mine as well. Thanks for sharing.
frehleycomet Thank you! It's nice to have the quiet between cuts 👍
Cool idea, I have a rolling cart with my scroll saw and router table. Gonna get a small shop vac to put in between and use your idea with the foot pedal. Thanks for the inspiration!
Old Fart First of all... great username! 😂 Second, that sounds perfect! I’m glad I was able to give you some inspiration! I hope it works out great for you!
I'm not sure that the foot switch is rated for more than 10 amps, could be pushing that with the shop vac.
I don't know if you dumped the bicycle quick release. I think some studies have been done with the new Pegasis quick release vs the Excaliber and DeWalt's regular quick release showing the weight adds to the vibrations. You might do well to look at a small light weight seat post quick release, I think you could get by with just a nylon nut on the far side and a washer on the quick release side to lighten things. I considered it with my Craftsman saw, but have since found a DW788 cheap.
So, it's been awhile now - how do you like the bicycle clamp as a tensioner?
Great mod. I may do something like it but with a power strip mounted to my table/workbench. Maybe a smaller led light fixture & clamp, too.
That is so clever! Thank you for sharing this!
Very clever. I might have to see if it will somehow work on my Excalibur. Is it noisy?
oldman719 Yes, it’s noisy. Unless you have a quieter shop vac and scroll saw, you’ll want some ear plugs in ;)
Excellent Princess you are the best !!
Thank you!
I bought an aquarium air pump because I wasn’t impressed with the air flow from my Delta scroll Saw. It’s rated for a 100 gallon tank and has two outputs. I Y’d them together, but the airflow is less than the stock Delta pump!! What size aquarium pump are you using? What am I doing wrong?
jg some pumps just aren’t that great, but one rated that high should have been! Make sure you have the tubing as close to the blade as possible and there’s no kinks in the airline tubing anywhere. Mine has two outputs too, but instead of Y’ing them together and cut a small piece of tubing and clamped it closed with a zip tie to shut off one completely. That may help? Good luck!
You are so cool! Now I need me one of those!
Rose Amador lol yay!
Beautiful, and the switch is pretty good too. But seriously I'm going to make one. 👍
Kevin Downes awesome! Good luck!
That is an awesome idea
Thank you!
You are a genius!
Dizzylizzyscreations aww, thank you! ❤️
very smart.
RsXeN thanks!
Would have been nice if you had made a video showing how you wired it all together. 😕
brian o It's not wired together in any way. I just have the different things all plugged into a spitter and then plugged into the foot pedal. But you're right, I should have gone into more detail. I was just showing an overview of how I set it up. I'll try to get a more detailed video done soon!
Sweet Pea Woodworking & Decor ....... that would be great....searched high and low for video on how to wire in a foot switch. Hours and hours. Im from Ireland and we use different wire colours and volts over here. Everything is from your side of the pond. I think I found one. .....BUT......by the time I had my scroll saw all wired in it was way too late to run it. I will know tomorrow when I switch it on. Tks. Brian.
brian o Oh! That makes sense! I didn't have to actually wire anything in with mine. Just plug them in and go... sorry about that!
