- By the early 2000s Nasio Fontaine emerged as one of the biggest reggae artistes on the planet after two decades in the music business. But after releasing his masterpiece album Universal Cry in 2006, he mysterious dropped out of the spotlight and stopped releasing music. This video sheds light on what really happened to the Dominican superstar

It is very sad that some few low thinkers has forced this great icon to stop top class reggae compositions, Nasio we love you and still waiting for your next fire album
Big Up All Dominicans,,And Native Amerindians Still in Existence,, Due to resistance,,Big Up Nasio,,, Blessed Love Rastafari,, 🇱🇨👊🏽🇯🇲👍🏽❤️
Nasio Fontaine is one of the most underrated artistes across all genres. I love his music to bits
🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👑He is THE BEST non JA artist✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
I saw Nasio Fountaine, perform at the great Apollo theater, in Harlem, New York City, in the 1980s. There were two top reggae artists on that show too. Nasio Fountain, performed first. When the next well known performer took the stage to perform, the first thing he said on the microphone, that there can be only one Bob Marley.
When the third performer took the stage, who was Joseph Hill, of the culture reggae band, he said he love Nasio Fountaine, like his home cook food. He saw the fight Nasio was going through, because of his talent. Rest in peace Joseph Hill.
Joseph 'Culture' Hill (bless his soul) had always been a man of truth and justice. Very much like him not to let such a 'diss' slide. Thanks for sharing, John.

I believe you are telling the truth that this happens alot with Jamaicans vs The Jamaican roots reggae legacy, Bob Marley legacy etc.
While in Germany, I watched U-Roy in Düsseldorf (Germany) in 2017, he lamented about how Jamaicans looked down on reggae that was not played by Jamaicans. Even Peter Tosh is on record deriding Eddy Grant that Eddy's reggae was not reggae but reggaeISH. He even made a comment that when you mix water with milk, you can't call that milk but you would say milkISH.
Also, when the Ivorian Seydou Koné better known by his stage name Alpha Blondy, produced the album Jerusalem with the wailers. Many Jamaican media and music commenters did not want him to add to the title "Alpha Blondy and the Wailers" despite only 2 of the wailers (Alvin "Seeco" Patterson and Tyrone Downie ) were unavailable for Alpha Blondy's Jerusalem album recording. That surely, cannot warrant as to why he could not be allowed to say "Alpha Blondy and the Wailers".
Iam from Kenya, all i can say is Nasio has a space in Reggae table !!...Much Love and Respect Nasio From Nairobi ,Kenya. We Love you !! 🇰🇪🇰🇪🙏🎸🎺🥁🪘🎼🎵🎶
i was in kenya 2 yrs ago. Nairobi, Mombassa & Diani Beach.
Wow! I haven't heard his music in sooo long. I am going to binge listen to some of his songs now. Great Reggae Artist. Nasio Fontaine and the late great Akae Beka of midnight are 2 of the greatest Reggae Artist outside of Jamaica.
Akae Beka ❤🙏🏿
Don't forget Meta Dia, from Meta and the cornerstones! He is one of the biggest right now with an amazing voice..check him out
@@faraazhoeseni9273 I will definitely check out this reggae band. Never heard of them.
Word is that Nasio, was scared off by some people who felt that he was intruding on the Marley's legacy. Nasio Fontiane, is the greatest reggae artist alive today. Eventhough he is not on the stage, he should still produce his albums. Just as Bob Marely, any song nasio sang, has a meaning, and vibrant music presentation!
Heard that too a while back. Maybe worth looking into.
Greatest alive today? Wow bro
Wow, I didn't know that, I heard him for the first time singing the song bondage and I couldn't get it out of my mind, I thought I heard bob Marley.
Greatest Reggae Artist?! 🤔
It is SAFE as well as correct ● to say that Nasio artist IS● one of the greatest Reggae Arrtist alive today when it comes to pure reggae, delivery, pure messages in soungs in regards to freedom fighting, love, nature , Revolution etc...
● It is NOT about the number of hits music, the media and social media songs .... but HOW● THE MUSIC 🎶 HITS● THE SOUL... and the timeless● message IN THE MUSIC ❤ and the HONEY 🍯 in his voice●
One of the most conscious roots reggae artists out there! I started listening to him back in 2004 when I was still in high school. We didn't have access to the Internet those times, so it was still radio cassettes. I memorised all the songs in 'Reggae Power' and 'Living in the Positive' albums. I discovered 'Universal Cry' and 'Reggae Power' around 2008. Although, 'Reggae Power' is his 1st album in 1994.
Nasio's reggae artistry is quite different. He touched on various topics, love, peace, revolution, suffering, politics, Pan-Africanism, repatriations, and self- reflection. I love all his albums. One of the top 10 reggae artists in my book! Blessed love from Solomon Islands 🇸🇧💯🙏🏾
Nasio has made an impact whether the acclaimed Rastas ,but haters of talent and truth like it or not.God did not create only Bob to spread consciousness. There are many more who have been threatened to be eroding Bob's legacy. That barbaric threat is retrogressive to consciousness from the inner man. True consciousness doesn't value competition, but peace and love.Much love to Nasio Fontaine from Zambia 🇿🇲🇿🇲
when i first saw Nasio perform in 2000ish i thought he was going to be the next bob marley. his presence was tangible. i was a reggae promoter at the time and booked many stars. Nasio stood out.
Please Please try to meet up with him an interview him.i miss this reggae artist so much he is a true reggae artist. Love love his music the world needs him now
Real Rasta, respect.. his music may live forever..
I can remember when I a little boy seeing Nasio Fontaine and his friends hanging around Philipsburg (aka Town) St. Maarten. He would always have his guitar with him. One of his hang out spots was on the back steps of the Church Of God building on Back street Philipsburg. Sometimes he would be there all day picking of his guitar and singing. I can also remember him being always friendly to everyone. Hope to see him again one of these days.
I no and remember these goodd old days.

Very great musical genius nasio my top favorite artist
I was fortunate to see Nasio perform at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Northern California in 2006. I think that’s footage of that performance at 5:30. Happy to hear Nasio is in good health and living well with family.

Well done 🪄🤘🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Blessings mi lioness 🔥🔥 Thanks so much for all the support. You all made this happen. Big up 🙌❤️💛💚
It seems like he’s verbatim comparable to Bob Marley. Except he picked up on the things Bob was lacking. He gave back to his community and dedicated the time he needed to in order to let his family live a normal life. All this while sending his message to the world. He lived every reggae listeners dream and solidified his place in Global history. Glad to hear that he’s keeping his balance!
Let me take a bow myself for having introduced Nasio's music to several Yardies from the early 1990's. Solid then, solid now. Glad to know it's his decision to step away and move on to another passion.

I just love his reggae taste, so original.

I live in the Commonwealth of Dominica, with my husband who is from there. In fact, my husband has the same mixture as him - his father was Kalinago and his mother African descent. He also has locs and is a musician. My husband knows him; he's retired from music and chilling on his impressive land, taking part in agriculture. I've met him on many occasions in Warner. A nice humble brother.
Soo happy to see this & thanx for making it‼️
Nasio Fontaine is dearly missed but he gave us timeless music 🎶 I listen to often❤️

How do you know and why did he stop recording and touring
@@Rootsmanskanking maybe because i am from the same island and work in the community where he lives... as for the touring and recording question, he's the one that can answer those questions.

Whatsoever the musical King does, shall always prosper!!!
He is a very good example of positive things that people can do or contribute to, for the benefit of humanity.
Great health, continual successes and prosperity to a very good King and his supporting families near and far.
Love perpetually to all upright peoples of Justice and uprightness!!
Peace is their domain and dwellings.
I saw him about twenty Years ago in America. I was in New York, in midtown Manhattan, on the block where one of Sam Ash's musical instruments stores are located. We hailed each other. He was heading towards sixth Avenue and I was heading towards Seventh Avenue/Broadway direction. ( He was heading Eastward and I was heading Westward.)
Thanks for your post and information.
It's been greatly welcomed and appreci-loved.
