@@westyraviz That's a very childishly foolish question. Whatever happened to him (which you now perceive as mistreating him) was a business matter between him and his promoters., to which people like me didn't agree with.
Yes, I'm a Nigerian, and most Nigerians still love him regardless of his bad business-partner choice. Now, what's that got to do with "Time Will Tell" being the GOAT of all his songs/tracks? You're right. Absolutely, NOTHING. Don't let conspiracy theory wreck your mind.

Jimmy Cliff played a significant part in the career growth of my band, The "MYSTIC REVEALERS". Our single "Mash Down Apartheid " was produced at his studio on Lady Musgrave Ave in Kingston and released on his "Oness" lable. His generosity toward us in giving us free access to his rehearsal room and recording equipment played a major role in our development and success. BIG UP, Mr Cliff. Love every time

There is a lot of people is going to lied about the history of the music fraternity,in Jamaica which is not true. Because what jimmy Cliff is saying it is not true. Bob Marley started to sing long time before Jimmy Cliff,Bob Marley recorded his 1st song in 1961. Also Alton Ellis started to sing from 1954, before Jimmy Cliff know about singing. Also Millie Small did that song my boy lollipop 🍭, touring the whole of Europe. Desmond Dekker and the aces, the 1st reggae song was recorded in Jamaica, was nany Goat version by Larry Marshall in 1968. I grew up in Jamaica hearing Prince Buster and Derrick Morgan having,a musical feud in the 1960s long before Jimmy Cliff. Where Prince Buster and Derrick Morgan is touring England from in the 1960s. In 1962 it was Derrick Morgan sang the song for independence august 6 th 1962, so Jimmy Cliff is saying it is not true. Because Harry Belanfonte is the 1st Jamaican to recorded a song in Jamaica, and he useto promoting the Jamaican music.Jimmy cliff never popular in Jamaica like even Toots and the Maytals, Slim Smith, Delroy Wilson's, John Holt, Alton Ellis,Roy Shirley, Ken Parker, Justin Hinds, Larry Marshall, Gregory Isaacs,. There is a lot of Jamaican singers is singing from in the 1950s and early 1960s touring all over the world, so it is no one person. One of the best music video made in Jamaica in the 1970s named rockers,I watched that movie about 5 times. I useto lived near to King Tubbys studio 🎙️ from in the 1960s, and know a lot of artists.Everybody is going to claims that they were the 1st, because most of the foundation members them is dead and gone. Because if you should asked Jimmy Cliff if he ever audition for vere John, who recruited, the Wailers, John Holt, Alton Ellis,Millie Small. He died in 1966, so any singers in Jamaica who never go through Vere John. They are young singer, man like Boris Gardner can tell you about Vere John,ok.

Listening to what this blogger is saying about Jimmy Cliff comparing to Bob Marley,it is all nonsense, because Bob Marley started to sing long time before Jimmy Cliff. Bob Marley is saying from 1961 also Alton Ellis is singing from 1954, so what this guy is saying is all nonsense. Let me give this guy a lesson about the Jamaican music fraternity, because he and more people is talking a lot of trash 🗑️. The first man in Jamaica to recorded a song ,is Harry Belanfonte long before Jimmy Cliff and Beverly started recording. Harry Belanfonte useto sing mento, song like carry me ackee to Linstead Market, island in the sun ☀️ just to mentioned a few of his songs. Where they used some of his songs in movies, so this guy needs to do some research. I was born and grew up in Jamaica, living very close to king Tubbys studio 🎙️ in the 1960s in Waterhouse. What this does not know about, that any singers does not go through Vere John , they are young singer. They are young singers, that man died in 1966 he useto have a program on RJR radio station named the Vere John opportunities show. During the 1960s the 2 most popular singers in Jamaica was Derrick Morgan and Prince Buster. So I don't where this guy got his false information from and, the very first reggae song was sing by Larry Marshall in 1968. I remember two artists contacted me talking a lot of trash 🗑️, they were born in the 1940s and I was born in the 1950s. I told that I born come see my uncle playing music, and he told me he is playing music from in the 1940s. In those days it was mento music and, they called it Folks songs I grew on those songs before ska,Rocksteady in the 1960s and reggae music came in. So the whole thing is all nonsense, Duke Reid was the only producer in Jamaica have a radio show on RJR on Sunday,I know those days. Only the younger generation in Jamaica, you guys can fooled about the music fraternity,ok.

The best local movies in Jamaica was rockers and it,was done in the 1970s. I watched it about 4 times, so what that is saying is all nonsense. The biggest singer came out of Jamaica in the 1960s tourning England and Europe, was Millie Small with my my boy lollipop 🍭. The first million dollars records,in the 1960s popular singers, Derrick Morgan, Prince Buster, Larry Marshall, Justin Hinds and the dominoes,Alton Ellis, the wailers,Toots and Maytals 1st festival song winner in 1966. A lot of bloggers is using Jamaica to make money, they are not from Jamaica and talking a lot of trash 🗑️. I know all the top singers from Jamaica, from John Holt, Bob Marley and the wailers,Alton Ellis, Slim Smith,Ken Parker,Pat Kelly, Desmond Decker,Roy Shirley, Dennis Brown, Johnny Osborne,Toots, Jimmy Cliff, Jimmy Riley, Horace Handy, Larry Marshall, Junior Byles,Delroy Wilson, the great Gregory Isaacs the ruler is more popular than Jimmy Cliff, the queen of reggae the undisputed only Marcia Griffiths, princess Rita Marley,Judy Mowatt, Charlene Davis,Nora Dean ,Hortense Ellis.. Boris Gardens, the rest of singers is young which can fight for minor positions. My step father was traveling the United States from 1961 and brought out a sound system and,I useto operated . So I useto buy most of the records back in those days, I could tell you most of the records shops in Kingston.

I think the reason why some people oppose Cliff to Marley is because the latter was a rasta and became world's best known representative of that movement, the dreadlocks, Jah, Hailé Selassie etc. For so many people reggae became synonymous of rasta and Jimmy Cliff is not rasta.

Jimmy Cliff has always been a very brilliant actor. In his interview concerning the movie"The harder they come", he said when he came to Kingston, he lived in areas that were gangster-infested, and the only thing that stopped him from joining those gangs full-time was because he didn’t know where he would bury his head if his family heard that he was in Kingston firing a gvn.

I was in secondary school in Nigeria in the early 70s when I caught the bug of Jimmy Cliff. I heard a secondary school boy sing ‘synthetic world’ shortly after I heard ‘Going back west’ This was my absolute best Jimmy Cliff then and I quickly learned it by heart and used to show off singing it. I encouraged my dad to start buying Jimmy Cliff’s albums and knew them all. ‘Mother’ in house of Exile, ‘Under the sun moon and stars’ were some of my favourites. I was a bit unhappy when Bob Marley appeared. I saw him as challenging my favourite but after sometime I decided to like both. I saw Jimmy Cliff close up in Manchester around 1999 or so. Great show. I believe that he is the most underrated great musician of our time.

Between Bob and Jimmy, in my opinion Jimmy had the better singing voice and was a much better singer. Also, Jimmy's songs were more contemporary for the time and had more of a "pop" appeal. Bob had his own niche in reggae music and stuck to it but unfortunately his music only became very popular after his death. Frankly, I was not a big fan of Bob's music when I was growing up in Jamaica in the 1970's and 1980's. During that time I was more into American Music like R&B, Disco and even Country and Western. I only became a fan after emigrating from Jamaica to the U.S in 1989. Strange but true!

It doesn't matter who came first but Bob Marley's root rock reggae is something else, unequalled, inspirational, revolutionary and he took it with him to the grave. A legend, an inestimable loss to mankind. Those who have a hand in his death will rot in agony in Hell forever.

These guys were just phenomenal. This generation dances to sounds without substance....that time the messages were of top quality - JIMMY CLIFF AND BOB MARLEY leading the way. They were philisophers, prophets, and leading moral lights!!!!
Thats why composing a song was the main thing before the lirics because a large part of the audience and fans followed the messages......❤❤❤❤❤ LOVE JIMMY CLIFF 💯❤ From 🇨🇲

Spectacular to say the least. I loved Jimmy Cliff's music long before I even knew who he was. I never quite put him and his music together until the movie, " The Harder They Come" which I have lost count on how many times I have watched it. "The harder they come" is an anthem in the dancehall arena as well as many more of his songs. Jimmy Cliff has a very wide appeal. Great artist no doubt!!

Growing up in Ghana in the ‘70s, all we knew was Jimmy Cliff. I heard of Bob Marley in 1975 when I immigrated to the USA. Jimmy has always been the King of Reggae 😅.

Jimmy Cliff undoubtedly made great contributions to reggae music, and he's certainly a legend in his own right. But Bob Marley became an international superstar to an extent that Cliff simply did not. "King," "Prince," the superlatives can honestly be a bit subjective. What is not a matter of opinion is the fact that reggae would be little more than novelty music in the absence of Bob Marley And The Wailers. The fanbase and media coverage generated by Bob Marley, alone, was and is unsurpassed in the history of reggae music, not to mention the fact that he's one of the best selling artists of all time, in addition to being a cultural phenomenon and global icon. I love Jimmy, but I think Bob did quite a bit more for the music and culture to warrant the moniker King of Reggae.

    "HARDER THEY COME" PURE CLASSIC.
THE MOVIE/ALBUM MADE IT SO EASE & UNDERSTANDABLE OF THE WORKING OF "BABYLONIAN SYSTEM" THEN & NOW.
SADLY, PEOPLE NEVER CATCH THE VIBES.
IT'S NOT ONLY IN MUSIC INDUSTRY, BUT IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE PEOPLE'S DAILY LIVES, GLOBALLY.
In appearance, you couldn't tell if he was dread or baldhead.
But with HARDER THEY COME movie/single, you knew he was SOLID AS A ROCK, especially with VIETNAM.
IN-BETWEEN & ON TOP HIS SHOULDERS WAS A WELL BALANCED HEAD.
    JAH LIVE.
    JAH GIVE.
    JAH GUIDE.
    JAH BLESS.

Jimmy Cliff's reggae music speaks to practically every aspect of our needs . It's inspirational, it's encouraging, it's animating. The lyrics are are so advance yet simple.
Now I see the light, Poor Slave, Please tell me why,
Reggae nights, under the Sun , moon and stars, My ancestors, She's my mother ... I could go on !
Jimmy Cliff' is a true living legend whose life and music has blessed generations.
And I say thank you ever so much Jimmy for all this great music. And thank you Reggae gist for a great job.
