Jollibee mostly targets children hence the sweet style spaghetti. And we use Banana Ketchup instead of Tomatoes (banana ketchup was created after a tomato shortage here in the Philippines, post WW2). Das whyyyyy

I am Filipino and halo halo translates to “mix mix”. So when the voice from behind the camera said that you should mix it, they were correct. Also beans are often used in Filipino desserts; especially red beans. I eat halo halo all the time and it is one of my favorites. It’s very comforting and reminds me of home:)

But Jollibee is pretty safe - there's no sisig, bulalo, taghilaw, or the really out there things like balut.
You can definitely feel keith being careful with his words 😂 it's just that Jollibee is OUR everything. One insult and it feels like you've offended the entire nation hahahaha

@@autumnhaze4842 I think it's understandable that it's only available in overseas because some OFW's couldn't get access in cooking adobo, so Jollibee introduced adobo rice not just for OFWs but also for people who are interested or curious.
For the non-Pinoys reading this, some fun facts: - Yes, Jollibee is a goddamn institution in the Philippines. Deal with it. - For a hot minute, Jollibee was "Pinoy McDonalds", and both fastfood chains are each other's biggest competition in the Philippines. At some point, both Jollibee and McDonalds started matching their menu items with each other. That's why McDonalds in the Philippines has a different basic McDonald's burger (different condiment blend) and it has McSpaghetti. - Pinoy food usually revolves around sweet-sour-savory, which is really a stark contrast to the rest of Southeast Asia (Spicy-savory-sour). Feel free to correct me on this, though. - Keith looked surprised we had Corned Beef on the menu, but canned Corned Beef is such a common thing in the Philippines. Breakfast in the Philippines is usually fried rice, a fried egg, and whatever meat you have lying around. - I personally hate the Jolly Hotdogs for all the reasons Keith raised. If they used Pinoy hotdogs, you'd have a better time. Then again, I'm not sure if Americans are ready for the bright red Pinoy hotdogs. No, I don't know why our hotdogs are bright red. - "Pinoy" Spaghetti is basically made with Tomato sauce, Banana Ketchup, and sugar as a base (Sometimes tomato sauce is optional). Then you mix in hotdogs and ground meat (beef or pork). Yes, Banana Ketchup is a thing. Yes, we used it as a tomato sauce extender/substitute because tomato sauce used to be generally more expensive than Banana Ketchup. In my experience, either foreigners love this or they hate this. There is no in-between. - Halo-Halo literally means "mix mix". You're supposed to mix that together until you have an almost homogenous mixture. It's good in a weird way. - I wish we had Adobo Rice, Chicken Strips, and the Chicken Sandwiches here in the Philippines. Thank you for attending my TED Talk.
I also want to note about the quenchers Filipinos LOVE pineapple and mango's since its rich and natural in many places in the philippines, so when Eugene said that the pineapple fanta soda is a very asian-drink its very accurate
@@chanwinsern8814 Instead of tomatoes, bananas are used. I think that's the only difference? Well, that and they add red dye to it so it'll look like tomato ketchup.

Filipino food is excellent in general. I only realized a few years ago, when a Filipino restaurant opened in my neighbourhood, how much they are HARDCORE fried-chicken lovers--and can find a way to work spaghetti and hotdogs into pretty much anything.

Jollibee mostly targets children hence the sweet style spaghetti. And we use Banana Ketchup instead of Tomatoes (banana ketchup was created after a tomato shortage here in the Philippines, post WW2). Das whyyyyy
i’ve never had filipino spaghetti that WASNT sweet

Our whole life in a video. 🤣
WE HAVE BEEN SUMMONED XD
Yes 🙌
Me as a Vietnamese who loves Jollibee: *vibing*
Can we take a moment to appreciate how sweet Alex is? He brings baked goods. Every. Single. Time. And genuinely tries to make something Keith will enjoy. What a wonderful friend. I don't think people give the man enough credit
I remember reading a few comments saying he's an asshole or something like that. I didn't really understand that because he seems very sweet, especially to his friends like Keith.
@@AMATCHALATTE he is anything but rude ppl just mad for NOTHING! Him and Hughie are both so nice!
@@shesapolca for a quick sec I thought you were calling Alex rude. I almost threw hands.
@@AMATCHALATTE I think it’s cause Alex is a bit of a picky eater and people get mad at picky eaters on the internet. I LOVE all the guys in Lewberger though, so I hope the hate doesn’t get to them
Alex is just a little odd...but, yeah to me he seems like a super sweet guy.
I am Filipino and halo halo translates to “mix mix”. So when the voice from behind the camera said that you should mix it, they were correct. Also beans are often used in Filipino desserts; especially red beans. I eat halo halo all the time and it is one of my favorites. It’s very comforting and reminds me of home:)
i love how Keith was like "5 mil in the first week!" and here we are, 9 months later, sitting at 4.3 mil
As a SE Asian, Keith realizing there’s beans in the dessert was admirable
Back when I was living in the Philippines, I never liked the hot dog one it was nasty AF, I had diarrhea everytime I ate that! But the burgers, desserts and combo rice, and sphagetti are good!

As a local, I kinda predicted what they'll like and not like given their non-filipino pallete but all I know was that it made me hungry at 3 a.m. And we're in the middle of a lockdown so no delivery service runs at this time these days to appease my hunger for jollibee. A crime, I'm telling you. It's a crime.
Yes! Before the lockdown, whenever I crave for some Jollibee I can always go to the nearest branch anytime, which sucks coz I cant do it anymore. They're not open 24 hours anymore 😭😭😭
Oh damn, you can't get food delivered? Where I live, food delivery services are still allowed to deliver during lockdown & even during the curfew
aw, just had Jollibee delivered at 4am (GrabFood) and we have 24hrs delivery already
As an American who has eaten at Jollibee, Chowking, and several regular Filipino restaurants - yeah I pretty much knew what he would like. I always love to see the reaction to Filipino spaghetti. But Jollibee is pretty safe - there's no sisig, bulalo, taghilaw, or the really out there things like balut.
You can definitely feel keith being careful with his words 😂 it's just that Jollibee is OUR everything. One insult and it feels like you've offended the entire nation hahahaha
haha true us filipinos get triggered easily on the internet at times lol
Jolibee is not a tradition, its religion!
haha *menacing stare*
I cringe with every mispronounced word. He phonetically pronounced them. PAL-A-BOK instead of PA-LA-BOK. 🥴

@@autumnhaze4842 I think it's understandable that it's only available in overseas because some OFW's couldn't get access in cooking adobo, so Jollibee introduced adobo rice not just for OFWs but also for people who are interested or curious.

For the non-Pinoys reading this, some fun facts:
- Yes, Jollibee is a goddamn institution in the Philippines.
I also want to note about the quenchers
Filipinos LOVE pineapple and mango's since its rich and natural in many places in the philippines, so when Eugene said that the pineapple fanta soda is a very asian-drink its very accurate
@@venixie1871 We got pineapples from Mexico though.
What's Banana Ketchup? Is it banana flavoured ketchup or the ketchup brand, Banana?
@@chanwinsern8814 Instead of tomatoes, bananas are used. I think that's the only difference? Well, that and they add red dye to it so it'll look like tomato ketchup.
The menu in Singapore is kind of sad though :(

Filipino food is excellent in general. I only realized a few years ago, when a Filipino restaurant opened in my neighbourhood, how much they are HARDCORE fried-chicken lovers--and can find a way to work spaghetti and hotdogs into pretty much anything.
And Lumpia. I know a lot wants the Lumpiang Shanghai more the one with pork but Togue is where it's at.
