A Beautiful part of North Essex that needs to be protected and not have thousands more houses destroying the land/wild life/fauna/our freedom to enjoy open spaces. Already too many new builds in this area without infrastructure and our water table low/sewers and drains pumping out crap when it rains hard! Stop building on land that we need for farming and our well-being. The company that bought this land several years ago for a cheap price have tried to override the agreements and want to make Billions from putting in thousands of houses and turn Great Dunmow and Little Easton into a massive New Town. We already have massive towns in Essex and North Essex is beautiful and the reason why people come to visit to escape the built up areas and traffic. Please don't destroy this part of Essex too.
Thanks for the comments, Theresa. I'm sure that these views are commonly felt throughout the country, especially as it is appearing that the only indicator of housing need is price, with household numbers and average people per household stabilising. With this application specifically, we feel that it is ill-thought through and opportunistic and would lead to more car-dependency with little heed paid to the climate crisis.
@@stopeastonpark8573 So if the company who bought this land and also the land on Easton park for a song means that they will not stop at 1200 houses and have in mind another 10,000? This would be a new Town twice the size of Dunmow.
Hi Theresa. You're right, of course, which is why SEP is fighting this appeal and is fully behind Uttlesford DC's decision to deny planning permission. We imagine that should this opportunistic plan be allowed, it would be a gateway for the start of 10,000 homes on historic and environmentally valuable Easton Park. That would dwarf the market town of Dunmow. If you thought it was difficult to get a doctor's appointment at the moment...
