I'd just like to elaborate something I realized as of listening to the song.
The reason there are complaints about the violin isn't because the violinist is doing poorly, or because it doesn't belong in the song. It's because the violin is such a contrast to the ocarina. The ocarina has well-defined notes and there's no question where one note starts and another ends. The violin is very fluid, it can switch between notes without stopping. Both fit well into the song, but the problem is, when both ocarina and violin play the part of the main tune, the well-defined notes of the ocarina make the fluidity of the violin sound like an error on the part of the violinist. This isn't the case, but it's what the brain percieves when the ocarina is established as the focus of the song.

He’s composed music for an official Zelda game, so you know he’s legit. (Well, it was a spin-off, but still.)
I think I finally figured why people hate on the violin, it also makes sense, the other instruments blend together to create this ambient piece of music, then the violin comes in and kinda cuts through that ambiance. In later moments of the song I could appreciate the violin more than in the beginning.

People, stop being mean about the violin. First of all, if you think her playing was bad, you have obviously never heard a screechy starter. Second of all, to those who say her notes "sound flat"... the song is in D Flat Major which pretty much means C, Db, Eb, F, Gb, Ab, Bb... so there will be lots of flat notes. Third of all, as a violinist who has tried this before, it is a very hard song to play... specially because of all the flats that make you subject to playing no open strings to give you time for placing your fingers.
So, just enjoy the song. .__.

The parts where the violin doesn’t fit in is when she is playing the harmony. I think it would’ve been better if the orcana thing plays the harmony and the violin had the melody. Either way, the orcana and violin don’t harmonize well together.
@@owenklein1917 thats because the ocarina has a very clear, well defined tone for each note, while the violin has a very fluid sound that blends each note into the next, so they sound almost opposite

Ocarina is sinking.... It is to sound engineer though to merge the tracks properly. The guitar is also killing ocarina in the beginning. It is about ocarina sound level too low, not about violin performance!

But nobody is talking about the sheer badassery of not missing a single beat on drums. Like he was playing 100+ bpm with freedom movement and chokes and polyrhytim movement. He deserve some recognition too😢❤❤

I don't get why the violin is getting hated on. Personally I thought the entrance was perfect, it sounded like it was blending into the background while it also took center stage and I felt it complimented the other instruments very well there. Also, do any of you guys know how difficult it is to even play a violin, let alone incorporate it into a rock-metal type of song? It's not meant to be an instrument in such a genre of music but they pulled it off excellently. If you don't like it, okay fine, but at least appreciate that they managed to even get it to work in the first place. At least appreciate that they worked hard to make this. Thanks.

I just love of how the violin in the beginning goes from Bb minor to D minor (from what I'm hearing), and that arpeggiated scale going up and down on 1:41. The part was incredibly very well articulated and it suits very well with the rest of the band. :)
