We say in Japan that you cannot judge the fruit tree until the 4th year of actual harvest. I am sure, in time, that your Shanxi Li will be sweeter and juicier, with larger fruits. I have just bought a Panzao jujube, which is said to be a bud mutation of Li.
I hope so that it gets better. I do prefer the juicy and firm flesh in jujubes. Not a fan of the spongy/styrofoam texture. I hope to add Panzoa in the future as well. I added Chico and will be adding Russian 2, Coco and Autumn Beauty this fall.
