    I'm part of a large editing team that has moved over to Storyblocks from Envato because of Envato's awful lack of video compression options and convoluted workflow with zipped files and lengthy downloads. Storyblocks integration with Premiere and After Effects, along with the h264 option feels like it makes the process 5-10x quicker and keeps you in a flow state while editing which is incredibly important.

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  Рік тому

      Yeah I think that direct integration is super handy! And it will definitely keep one in the flow state. The two-click download setup Storyblocks has is great 😄👌🏼

    Great work Brad! I can honestly say that I've been using Envato for the last year, and without exception I found what I needed in a heart beat. I must say I haven't tried Storyblocks so I can't compare them, but as always, you shine a bright light! Keep up the awesome work!!

    Full disclosure:
    Envato doesn’t have a $16.50/month plan and they don’t tell you that until after you signup.
    They do have a $39/month plan and a $198/year plan.
    You should warn you viewers about this.

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  Рік тому +1

      It works out to $16.50 per month when you sign up for a year and that is how I use these kind of subscription services. At the time of making this video, they offered a free trial which would have been enough to decide if it was worth signing up to long term. For people needing it on a regular basis, signing up for the annual subscription makes the most sense.

      @@Brad_Westwait can you please help me.. the yearly plan says $16.50 a month, but $198 a year.
      Would it charge the $198 from my bank if I select that payment method or would I take out $16.50 every month until it makes up $198 in the year?

    envato is great but the only problem with envato is they do not offer multiple format during downloading the video. second, where storyblocks offer h:264 format as well which is 8 to 10 times smaller in size. otherwise I do not want to be with storyblocks due to their policies, high price and unprofessional and delayed customer support.
    Envato please improve this
    Give multiple format options to download
    do not download in zipped files. it makes the editting process hell lengthy
    introduce one click download at least for videos and audios.

    what about the need to "project specify" each asset you download from envato? is this true that you need to register and re-download assets on a PER PROJECT basis?

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  Рік тому

      Yeah you create a name for each project and just select it when you download. The reason for this is that if there is ever a copyright claim made on any of the content that you download and use, you can just download the license file which then has the project name on it automatically. Yes you have to redownload an asset if you want to use it for another project. That is so the license can be updated and the creator of the asset gets paid accordingly by Envato.

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  2 роки тому

      That’s a huge plus for Storyblocks. My advice would be to decide based on what you think you need more. Easy access to Storyblocks stock in LumaFusion? Or do you also need access to more graphics templates options, sound effects, photos, etc? If you don’t really have a need for those extra things then I’d go for Storyblocks. If you need a variety of assets, then Envato. Hope the helps 🤞🏼 😄

    You mentioned Envato Elements license only covers usage in projects that are completed during the subscription period.
    It sounded like Storyblocks has the same restriction? If so, how did I miss that crucial restriction on the Storyblock website! Ugh! 😞 I recently subscribed to the more costly Storyblocks (1 yr. sub.) over Envato's plan primarily for thinking that Storyblocks license covered usage of downloaded content even if a project was completed after cancelling the subscription. If I got that wrong, then I made a big $$ mistake.
    IF both companies have identical license plans (covering unlimited online streaming, social media distribution, TV, Satellite TV, Int'l usage, etc.), then I probably should switch to Envato Elements at the end of this year.

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  2 роки тому +1

      I think all stock sites have that kind of clause in their service agreements, so that people can't just go nuts downloading tons of assets in one month and then cancel their plan.

      I'm not 100% sure. You probably could since they say unlimited downloads but I would imagine that you need to finish those projects that use the downloaded clips within that month. I bet they will have more info on their FAQ page that would help you.

    I was personally disappointed in the quality of a lot of the photos and video clips on Envato. It was hard to find something useable, at least the things I was looking for, and what I did find didn't look that great. The music and SFX were pretty good though. Plus they had some rotatable CGI elements you could download still images of which were kinda need at times. I don't know about the templates and such as I never used them. But the yearly price was good especially with a creator code.

      Thanks for your input Chad. As far as the best quality stock footage goes, I think the winner is definitely Artgrid. I am usually able to find what I'm looking for between Storyblocks and Envato, but the amount of value you get for the price with Envato can't be beat 😄

    Hello Brad today I creating an author account in Envato. ia am expert to making music tracks and I want to sell music tracks but the proble that I am facing is Envato say “If you are specialised in Music Tracks and Sounds Effects, please note we are temporarily not accepting new authors. To express your interest for future opportunities, please proceed to the next step" so what can I do ?

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  2 роки тому

      That's a tough one. I would keep trying occasionally but also try other sites like Uppbeat, Artlist, Epidemic Sound etc. Try applying to as many as possible.

    Envato does not seem to have pre-animated characters, which Storyblocks does.

    Is it ok to use envato elements video previews to create youtube videos? Will there be copyright claims if i used previews. Please reply. Thanks

    • @Brad_West
      @Brad_West  2 роки тому

      Well the previews will be low res and watermarked. The previews are meant to be used for rough cuts, to get client approvals, etc before licensing the high res unwatermarked clips.

      €46.80 doesn’t sound right because it’s supposed to be $33p/m if paid monthly and $16.50p/m if paid yearly.

      @@Brad_West I'm in Europe, but there's no currency selector. Nevertheless, I'm signing up as we speak (monthly for now) as I still think it's a good price, speaking of which, here's a copy/paste from their checkout page: After the 7-day free trial, your selected payment method will be charged €47.19/month. (FYI: I'm using your affiliate link from the description) Furthermore, €14.50/month is excluding local tax and only if you go for the yearly plan. Thanks for the video.

    Great comparison with a not so subtle lean toward Envato (wink). The guy dressed like a CPA pumping his fists into the air like he won the Super Bowl was cringe-worthy.

      Yeah I still have both subscriptions (and I’ll probably keep both) but I do think that anyone looking for just one, would get better value for money with Envato. Some stock footage is notoriously cheesy 😆
