Leopards average weight is vary between in their species. When we considering african leopard is 60 kg medium weight, while the srilankan leopard medium weight is approximately more than 70 kg
@Jayasimha Y largest leopard ever recorded was Ivan - an one eyed sri lankan leopard weighed around 100 kg. Normally jaguars can reach maximum 136 kg. Heaviest ever recorded was 149 kg. On average jaguars are 50% heavier than leopards.
The only chance for a Leopard to survive against a Jaguar, would be to run for his life. And I wouldn't be sure that the Jaguar wouldn't be able to run it to the ground either.
Luna the black leopard jumps onto the companion rottweiler’s back, including from trees. I think Luna is practicing predatory moves but not biting. She is nearly the same size as the rottweiler and plays roughouse with it.
Awesome as always! As much as I love leopards, I definitely agree with the winner. But one correction : leopards are faster and more agile, not the other way round like you said. So contrary to your statement, leopards *can* escape jaguars - simply by running away!
But have you seen how fierce leopards fight. In my opinion the jaguar has to finish match quickly otherswise that strength advantage would slowly disappear.
The Jaguar would win this one. The leopard is legendary & far more adaptable to changing conditions but when it comes to fighting, the Jaguar holds the upper hand (or claw!).
I think it's not always about size. But also personallity. Can go in both directions. Jaguar sacrified size for food. In South America pray is smaller. Leopard sacrified size for bioma.

@Just Some Communist With Internet Access leopards have never been observe to kill lions unless young... even on 1v1s, the leopard gets more tired out quickly, like how a cheetah is really agile and light yet they get tired out quickly.... multiple bites from a leopard to a jaguar, the jaguar can handle, but one bite from a jaguar, its usually over as it hold on with its extremely powerful jaws. My point is the jaguar will win 8/10 times, not 100% of the time though
@Just Some Communist With Internet Access yea lions have the least stamina relatively, although leopards move around faster which cause them to loose energy just as fast.
lions move slower than leopards, and the faster it moves, the more it looses energy, so since the leopard moves faster, it looses just as much energy as a lion does in the same amount of time, thats movement stamina though, while fighting stamina, a lion can fight longer than a leopard, even if that means standing in one place and swiping it away when the leopard approaches
The biggest leopard recorded was 212 lbs, very small grown jaguars can weigh as little as about 70 lbs although this is rare. Theoretically the worlds biggest leopard can be more than twice as big as the smallest grown jaguar, I wonder how strong a tiny jaguar is compared to a giant leopard. Obviously the jaguar is stronger at the same size, but how much bigger would a leopard have to be to be equally as strong I wonder? I've also read on average jaguars are only 10% bigger than leopards, but they also have a much larger maximum size, over 321 lbs for modern jaguars. Jaguar size range is much more diverse than leopard size range. Prehistoric jaguars could be over 400 lbs possibly over 500 lbs.

@Just Some Communist With Internet Access Math? doesnt involve math, it involves research
Prehistoric jaguars could be over 400 lbs possibly over 500 lbs.
jaguars are slightly taller, but shorter from head to tail and jaguars are alot more heavy and muscular..
Jaguars from pantanal are the craziest cats I've ever seen my life. Been in South Africa and Senegal, seeing lions is awesome but seeing a wild pantanal jaguar it's like seeing a spotted lioness full of explosiveness. It really scared and amazed me.

Another point I'd like to make is about bite force!! Hyenas have a stronger bite force than Lions at 1100 psi but it does them no good against Lions because they only chickenpeck!!! Their bite force is only for when they feed, not fight because they don't inflict any bad wounds on Lions unless there's a big group of them!!!
Cougar vs Leopard would seem like the better match. In this match I'd go Jaguar. They're the pitbull of the cat world. Smaller than lions and tigers but muscular with a huge bite.
A full sized male Jaguar can weigh 50+ pounds more than an exceptionally large Leopard. Too powerful in a head to head fight. The Leopard would have to ambush the Jaguar and use it's agility advantage.
