Thanks for watching! I'm glad this helped. I struggled finding my first set and figured this would be a good video to make when I planned to replace the 2nd.
Good video . I bought mine right before that came out with gen two with different colors . I mod mine out . I changed the locking bars to be able to close the lid and still open the draws . I also added a simple locking pin to the folding tray . And add a 3 draw box to the bottom open space for more storage . If you like to see pictures of the box . I have a tool box review but I have a lot better still photos of mods
Great tutorial for drawer slide replacements. Are small drawer slides possible? Purchased a couple inexpensive top/bottom rolling tool boxes at kragen auto parts years ago and the drawer slides have some plastic end stops that disintegrated with time. Replaced one box with a Husky, the other I will try your replacement slides technique! Thanks for this video!
They are 16 inch, the links in the description should take you to 16 inch but I do apologize for not saying that in the video as there are different size options on Amazon there... my mistake
@jesus686 well, the slides i am showing are superior. Generally speaking the slides make or break the toolbox. I knew I would probably be replacing them at some point.
A good way to get 4 nice sets of drawer slides for around 20 bucks is buying a filing cabinet from a thrift store. The slides are bullet proof of most of the vintage filling cabinets(paper is heavy) and then toss the cabinet or repurpose it into a BBQ smoker if you're a hungry MacGyver. That's what I did when I found out how insanely expensive nice drawer slides are. I found some that were basically the same as the 60 or 70 per set ones at the big box stores.
Honestly, i love this tool cart. I expected that the drawer slides would be junk on this and the price of it reflected that. I have a craftsman tool box as well that yes the drawer slides have never given me an issue but it also cost way more in comparison.
This job is more involved than what I was hoping for. Thanks for posting!
This is just what i needed! Thanks for posting

If they are the same width I would bet on it. But I haven't done one so that's I can't say for sure.

I like the idea of more storage. Is your review on youtube? I'm about to click and check it out if it's there.

Will these work for the smaller black tool carts with only three drawers
What size are they

The slide for the smaller drawers are the same size ?
Yes, they are
I got that tool box for free but by the cost of all the slides I better buy me a new one

Nice pro tip. Make sure to find the same depth
@The.Odyssey yes, that is key.
can I replace FRICTION slides with the slides you have here?
Yes, the challenges are only ever mounting and of course ordering the same length.
Please help me 🥺🙏
What can I help you with?
If these tool boxes are so good, why are we replacing these slides? My Craftsman box is 50 years old and still works flawlessly.
