In this video, I react to Kanye West performing 'Black Skinhead' and 'New Slaves' live on Saturday Night Live. Enjoy! (the video portion is edited due to copyright claims on images by Saturday Night Live)
You gotta do his all day performance at the Brit awards. There’s flamethrowers involved. Enough said.
lol... omfg, flame throwers!?! It's like you're speaking to my heart!
@@bobthepoppop yes flamethrowers. Song is post Yeezus but def got a similar vibe
@@bobthepoppop Hey man REACT TO MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY
@@bobthepoppopplease react to that performance… you will love the audience reactions to it.
@@bobthepoppop he worked with PAUL MCCARTNEY ON THE SONG! He made the melody and Kanye just kinda went "uhuh uhuh" and turned it into what you hear. In the original audio version theres recording of Paul whistling and playing guitar at the end. The performance actually has like EVERYONE relevant in the UK Rap scene behind Kanye. It was insane that they got all those rappers on stage together. The orignal demo even has a verse with KENDRICK and 2 Chainz. 😭 That version is even better imo you need to listen to Kendrick Lamar. Greatest rapper of the last 10 years. Section 80 is a great album that basically talks about the crack epidemic of the 80s and Reagan, its a bit of a concept album. Kanye once revealed that over one summer Kendrick and him recorded 40 songs together.
Kanye's performance at the 2008 Grammy's of Stronger/Hey Mama is extremely powerful. Right after his mother died you can really feel the passion he puts out
I definitely wanna see that, but I'll wait until after I do the album so that reaction is entirely fresh.
I think both songs were performed before yeezus released, they even have different lyrics. People were waiting for a kanye album similar to twisted fantast but he switched it all up and everyone was so surprised about these songs.
You can hear dog barks in “I’m in it” too
Yep, just noticed that not too long ago
The dog sounds like Chomp from Mario 64 lmao
You know this performance is legendary when Bono from U2 praises it
For his 60th birthday, U2 frontman Bono curated a list of “60 Songs That Saved My Life”. As part of the project, he penned individual letters to each of the artists behind his songs of choice. Among those receiving the a handwritten note from Bono was Kanye West, whose Yeezus cut “Black Skinhead” sounded like nothing [Bono had] ever heard before.”Bono was actually in the SNL house the night “Black Skinhead” debuted in 2013. “I was a hundred feet away from your feet,” the letter begins. “Your eyes were shut so as not to be distracted from the words you had just written around the corner.”The letter quotes some favorite lyrics, and suggests that with this performance, “It felt like hip hop wanted the black leather jacket back from rock ‘n roll…. and the rock ‘n roll silhouette too.” Bono waxes poetical about Kanye as a “punk Othello,” and the moment he realized “I was about to get musically kicked in the head.” In conclusion, he called the song, “The soundtrack of terror, but I wasn’t afraid… I was relieved somebody was fearless.” Read Bono’s full letter and relive the iconic SNL performance below.
@@JZUSKASO amazing
By the time your done with Kanye's discography and maybe some interviews your whole perspective on Kanye will change. We don't even realise the effect media has on us, I realised that when I had formed opinions on people I knew nothing about.
It's already happening. I'm realizing that anything I thought I knew about Kanye (which was nothing) was basically total bullshit. And I'm fine with that. Let us kindly dispel every stereotype and misconception there is and enjoy the music being made.
man that New Slaves performance is legendary! The insane aggression on it but he barely moves, and the eyes on the back... Genius
Probably the greatest SNL performance
No thats rage against the machine
His live performance of ONLY ONE is magical. So is any live performance of Runaway.
If you continue his discog in order I really think you'll like his 2nd album Late Registration. Defenition of a classic. amazingly paced/ structered album
I plan on doing his albums in order from here out. Yeezus was done simply out of outrageous demand.
Sounds great. Makes sense tho the video took off
@@bobthepoppop If you like rock, react to the weeknd at coachella in 2018 with the song house of balloons / glass table girls, the video of the full concert is on youtube you just have to move to the set list for that song. There is the exact minute in the description of the video
I'm sure he'll like reg, but not more than many of the other albums in his discography. If Yeezus is more his style, then it's much more likely that he'll like songs off of MBDTF, as well as Donda more.
@@danielgomez1703 ehh
Love these reacts! So refreshing to see someone from a non hiphop background appreciate Kanye for his music and art.
more ye reactions i love these. btw this era was basically when his ego was massive at least more so than all the other eras. really confident ye
I have to admit that I like Kanye with a massive ego. He hammers with a massive ego. One thing that has somewhat surprised me during this hip-hop journey is that hip-hop artists haven't been screaming their lungs out like they should be. Hip-hop could learn a wee bit from hard rock. Fuckin' yell, man. Yell and scream and yell some more. Scream until the sky falls and the world is forced to listen.
@@bobthepoppop If you like yelling and want to check out some REALLY aggressive HipHop you should listen to Death Grips.
Ye had this massive ego back in 2005 lol its just that he was talking a lot more without backing it up during the early 2010's. If you rewatch some of these interviews a lot of the shit people laughed about became facts in the last years.
@@bobthepoppop I second the Death Grips rec! Thats some screaming if I've ever heard it
@@DoBTF2 death grips, jpegmafia, Denzel Curry, Zillakami, Ghostemane, just a few of my favorite screamo rappers
your son crawling out of the video haha, cute!
lol... the poor guy gets so nervous sometimes. He loves to say hi, but ya know... camera shyness still springs on him from time to time
@@bobthepoppop we need his thoughts on bound 2
@@323096685 not so sure thats such a good idea 💡 😂
The UA-cam algorithm started showing me your stuff, I’ve been loving the yeezus videos! An album suggestion I have is Whole Lotta Red by Playboi Carti. It’s a very strange almost punk trap kind of album that I think you’d either love or hate. At the very least, there’s a really good Kanye feature on it. Keep up the great videos!
that Budapest always hits
Respect but I want to hear madvillainy first
Yup, this guy’s amazing!!
I also think you would rly like more experimental hip hop artists. Like i think death grips’ The Money Store is right up your alley if you loved yeezus
love your takes on these things
You’re a legend! I love this channel
i have begun my decent down the rabbit hole! love these videos man.
Btw the song “new slaves” first release was on different 66 buildings around the world 🌎
Kid Cudi man on the moon is one of the most renowned and emotional rap experiences. Try it out.
Bono said this performance was one of the songs that "saved his life"
New sub. Loving these reactions! Very well thought out and unbiased opinions on the music. Need a Travis Scott reaction soon
The Travis recommendations have been coming in hot and heavy lately. I think I may do an album come Friday. I'm curious. So far, those making music suggestions have not led me wrong.
@@bobthepoppop You need to listen to Rodeo
@@bobthepoppop do Rodeo specifically
@@bobthepoppop DO MORE KANYE PLEASE DO HIS ALBUM “MBDTF”
Also the Yeezus tour as a whole (amazing story behind) was great check one show if you can
Loving your content
You are my favorite react channel right now. You bring a lot of insight and knowledge to music I've heard a million times already. Keep up the great work and the consistency is amazing despite UA-cam robbing you. Eventually, and no rush, I recommend To Pimp A Butterfly (Album) by Kendrick Lamar from start to finish. Maybe even a 3 part series just for that album alone, seeing as I know you like to dive deep in the meaning of the lyrics. It is my #1 album of all time. I started listening to rap at age 6 (now 27) when my uncle gave me a radio and a cassette with Dr Dre, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. It is an amazing piece of art despite the majority of Kendrick's fan base disliking it. It was the first time Kendrick Lamar gave listeners a different sound while portraying a deep message.
PS: Sorry for the 'essay sized' comment.
Essay comments are always welcome, sir. Always.
I'm really looking forward to doing more Kendrick Lamar. I felt like Section 80 was really strong, and that was his first major album (as far as I understand). I've heard from friends at work that Kendrick is a hell of a writer, which is something I really appreciate.
@@bobthepoppop yes, thank you for the reply. Going in chronological order is best I think to see his evolution as an artist and as a man (I won't spoil further). I just think that To Pimp A Butterfly is an album where your eyes will open up in shock of where Hip Hop as a genre can go.
the majority of kendrick's fanbase definitely doesn't dislike TPAB lol it's his most critically acclaimed album by far
@@kyele8501 You are mistaken. Originally upon the albums release fans had a disliking to it saying it had too much jazz and that he wasn't rapping enough. Don't forget TPAB came out after Good Kid Mad City. It was a twist for what we got from Kendrick. Fans didn't start enjoying it until way later and even then there are people to this day that claim it's his lowest album for them.
This channel is a new gem
Loved this video.
This is way better than the album version. I wish he used this one on the album
Gotta say I'm glad youtube algorythm recommended your channel I love your videos.
Check out Denzel Curry! You’d love his super aggressive sound! He even did a cover of RATM and it’s probably the best cover of bulls in parade! Seriously though his album imperial is a classic. Super in your face and distorted
YAAAAS
Yeah, that sounds like my kind of jam
Imperial is so fucking underrated man
I wish the screams on the studio version of Black Skinhead were more like the SNL performance
It would be really cool to see you react to The Powers That B by Death Grips. Many rock elements in that album, especially in the second half.
react to All Day (Live At The 2015 BRIT Awards)
awesome reactions, Bob! i esp. loved when you caught yourself during the college dropout video re: duality of human behavior (not letting a trite song take anything away from the emotional messages in other songs).
couple things you might find interesting: 1. there was a "guerilla" style promotion of yeezus via projection of his video (new slaves) onto the facades of luxury stores, globally.
2. the song "i am a god" was a response to a fashion designer trying to force kanye not to attend anyone's show but his...
i might be slightly off, but just wanted to throw that out there because YEEZUS is such a great album...
I love that promotion idea. That's awesome!
you have to react to ‘all day’ live performance at the BRIT awards 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The self censoring is hilarious in juxtaposition with the subject matter of New Slaves.
Yeah... there's some irony involved here, for sure :)
As another comment said, All Day is a must
Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown
His new slaves performance for BBC is much better in my opinion. But great video as always!
Travis Scott: Rodeo for next album reaction. Some background on Travis, he is Kanye's protege and has been really close with kanye ever since they meet and in 2013, he opened up for Kanye's Yeezus tour along side Kendrick Lamar, but over the past few years has become a superstar and a house hold name in the rap/trap game mostly because of his sound with auto tune, his amazing production and his amazing live performances. His real blow up and what brought him to that superstar/rockstar status came from when he dropped his album rodeo in 2015 and is argued to be one of and if not the best trap album ever and since then hasn't stopped and only has gotten bigger.
Rodeo keeps coming up... probably doing that next. Or not. I'm drunk rn. No promises :D
@@bobthepoppop I think you would like Rodeo. Theres a song with Kanye on the album that is very yeezus esqe because It was actually originally meant for yeezus. The album as a whole isn't AS rock influenced as Yeezus but it's definitely got the distortion and gritter vibes that you like.
I think you would really like Run The Jewels.
To go along with the mythological themes of yeezus I think the dog is supposed to be Cerberus
It's still funny how in New Slaves he's talking about fuck the corporations trying to control him all while controlling his lyrics. Censorship. Man fuck them if they wouldn't allow it. I'm sure plenty of shows would've loved him on and uncensored. It is what it is. Bigger reach I guess.
The grunt censorships are so amazing
They really are.
Black skinhead will get you hyped for ANYTHING
If you are the only channel to react to Kanye's live versions you will blow up very quick because I have only ever seen music videos reactions. 2 amazing songs that define that era of Kanye.
Kanye gotta be the greatest rap music performer in history
I can’t wait for you to react to death grips
You gotta do his full all day performance at the Brit awards.
Yes definitely one of his best performances. Glad they captured T Swift’s reaction too lol.
@@VeryLovingCat haha!! I know right, was pretty funny
Love your reactions dude, I have a suggestion for some more chill boombap style rap, 1999 by Joey Bada$$ with the Genius lyrics up and Amerikkan Korruption by Capital STEEZ. Critically acclaimed mixtapes and just amazing projects. Hope u react to em one day.
I commented on the last vid, but u GOTTA do the bound 2 video 😂
I can do that. Is it a music video or live performance?
@@bobthepoppop music vid :)
@@bobthepoppop Music video
Music vid. easily one of the most iconic vids of the 2010s imo
Sounds legit! I'm 3 beers in... if I remember tomorrow, I'll do it :D
Definitely ‘All Day’ on Brit awards next.
Please react to the BBC Zane Lowe interview that Kanye did during the release of this album. Explains a lot. Please also react to the breakfast club interview he did also during this era.
God this version is better than the cd version
Whole lotta red punk trap
You should really react to MF DOOM mm food or mad villainy, he is a semi indie artist that got big from the 2000s. And also they consider him your rapper favorite rappers because a lot of big rappers consider him to be there favorite rappers.
Could you post your reaction to his performance of Pinocchio Story at the Hollywood bowl that you referenced before?
Please watch Kanye West - Pinocchio Story (Hollywood Bowl 2015). It is my favourite Kanye performance.
LETS GOOOO
Common, Finding Forever album.
This songs are supreme and it's a middle finger to the system.
WE NEED DENZEL CURRY
First time his name has been brought up. Added to the list!
Rodeo or Death Grips. I think you'll really like them
Check out new slaves snl live version
You should check out Exmilitary by Death Grips
If you're gonna do the bound 2 music video, I'd recommend you go back and watch the Jools Holland performance of bound 2, 2!
please do All Day at the Brit Awards
Travis Scott.
I cannot wait.
Sad he didnt play the climax of the song
You have got to do Whole Lotta Red by Playboi Carti. The sound on it is really gritty.
Yo you should listen to by the time I get to Phoenix by injury reserve it’ll blow your mind
pls react to frank ocean's blonde
I think he's gotta go straight to Donda, Pablo, or Watch the Throne. Or Travis - Days Before Rodeo
React to Iridescence by Brockhampton
I highly recommend All day nigga feature Paul McCartney live performance. You will like that performance a lot
Good
Please do travis scott rodeo you gonna like it
man react to my beautiful dark twisted fantasy
react to all day at the brit awards and power at coachella 2011
ALSO MAN YOUR CHANNEL IS GROWING glad to have been here before 1k
OG!
You might have gotten this reccomendation before but, City Morgue is a "Trap-metal" duo meaning they make rap music with some metal mixed in, super cool!
You should absolutely react to Jay-Z's "The Story of OJ" sometime after you finish the rest of Kanye's Discography
if you want more aggression in hip hop watch denzel curry cover of bulls on parade by rage against the machine or listen to his original stuff you'll absolutely love it
Ooooo.... I kinda wanna do that right now. Great song.
*YOU GOTTA DO HOUSE OF BALLOONS BY THE WEEKND IT WILL GET A LOT OF VIEWS AS WELL*
I was today years old when I realized Kanye stole the outro part of new slaves :D
it’s a sample lol
@@owenmenne827 i don't know if we can call a whole outro part of a song Just "sample". But I saw people being blown away how good that part was including the guitar. People were giving credit to him for this outro when it is clearly not his art,but someone elses song.
@@kriszm2224 even then he paid for the sample so he didnt "steal" the song 🤦♂️

Can you do a video reacting to “Disco”! By MIKE reading the lyrics? I would really appreciate it i just watched the Yeezus reaction and I loved it and I liked how you read the lyrics not a lot of UA-cam reactors do that
do a reaction to Veteran by JPEGMAFIA!
Please react to "Chiraq" by Montana of 300. I heard you say you like aggression. This is pure aggression, bars, and metaphors for 5 straight minutes. No hook. You will be AMAZED. He's independent and probably the best rapper I've ever heard 🔥
100 likes on this comment and he reacts to “all day” by Kanye West live performance at the BRIT Awards!!!! GO!!!!!
censorship is awful, literally ruins songs and the impact of the message. its supposed to be vulgar and its supposed to get your attention. i really think these live versions are terrible because of that.
A rap artist that is known for screaming and being very emotional with his music is XXXTENTACION. He past away a few years ago but has a lot of good music. However, if you react to his music be prepared for a whole nother fan base to swarm in. XXXTENTACION's fan base is very strong similar to Kanye's
Please no
People are going to request a lot of boring underground nerd rap heroes. Stick to the mainstream bro
Get away from Kanye??
