    These two people are doers.
The kind you want on your team.
The laughter alone is telling of their resiliency.
And especially a couple working together, nice!

That is how it is done.Been doing that in Alaska for years.10mm static line is the most efficient.Put some weight on one side of the rope.Your coverage will increase dramatically.Cheers

For the amount of snow people are dealing with, this is the best I’ve seen. The other challenges are individuals being fit and extension ladder to get the line on. Personally, I would hire for this service. There are telescoping paddle wand units friendly for the operator. The easiest time to do it is right after it stops snowing, the pack is light. The trouble with this blizzard was facing a wall of snow to go anywhere. Once the snow packs down this line is like a harmless saw. Good to know!!!

Funny you mention Alaska, that’s what these storms dropped. I’m telling people looks like Alaska.

I don't have a mountain home any more, but I watched the Amazon gadget video for clearing snow. The only thing to check, does it have enough reach for you without a 2 story ladder. Tip: when buying a home, a high pitch roof is best for snow weight and getting it off

That is why we Canandians have slanted roofs so the snow just slides off.

You're already past the danger point of snow load on your roof. You really should get ahead of the curve and be clearing it off before it becomes 4 ft tall

much better than standing in your driveway WHINING ABOUT how nobody iz there to save you.. NOT COUNTING THE ELDERLY OR DISABLED. Just the arrogant selfish whinerz that think you are there to save them so they can trash the less fortunate FIRST CHANCE THEY GET

We used our place as a getaway. We heeded the advice of the full time residents. Keep the propane tank no less than half full, store a cord or more of firewood, keep the place well stocked, expect to lose electricity and expect water pipe to break and buy the stuff to stock the place from stores before coming up the mountain. In a bad storm you can’t get to the store. We went through a blizzard not as bad as this and other than missing a few days of work, we sheltered in place having to wait for the plow made a trough. Once that’s done we dug lane to get to it, dug the cars out and slowly watching for the poles marking the edge of the road because the pavement is buried, drove in the most beautiful winter wonderland. Those poles were the only way to know we were on a road, we were driving on snow. The report deemed it safe to get off the mountain. Close as I’ll get to a sleigh ride. Early morning start the ice glistening on the trees was magical display of light. No worries about watching the road, you only go 20 mph in those conditions. Ending my write, we enjoyed ourselves, stayed well fed and cozy and made it off the mountain as soon as there was a trough called the road.Planning for it works. But there was a lot of structural damage, so I don’t understand why military didn’t get involved sooner.

Why would they have waited so long?
That bottom ice melt layer alone would collapse many a roof.

Yes it’s a creative way of doing it but it’s the way it’s supposed to be done. It’s not anything that they have made up on their own.

They should have started to saw at the front to the back first. Then maybe it wouldn't have fell on their cord. They know better now! Lol.

I know. What changed was the Polar Vortex. It controls the weather on the planet. It collapsed October of 2022 shifting us into a wetter pattern. The Polar freeze that ice aged 26 States was the first event kicking off the changes. As scientists following it predicted, beginning of winter west coast would be dry and second half of winter wetter. I didn’t know it was a thing to know but people are getting on board and it’s starting to be mentioned in weather casts.
