Would much rather have a 69 coronet or satellite, with a 440, 6spd manual. Take it out and pound on it and have fun. And that’s becoming a lot more common.

Vintage cars do vary in price over the years to a certain extent. People buy cars that they remember in their youth and connect with. Not many people around today owned or remember driving in a Model-T which is why they sell for less than a Charger. Of course there will always be exceptions.
I remember seeing Challengers and ‘Cudas on used car lots for $1,200.
But I also remember in the 90’s thinking the V8 was a thing of the past too.
    Nice report. 👍🏻👍🏻

I own a 1967 Dodge Charger Hemi 4 speed, Dana 60 ,one of 58 made in 1967. The color is ZZ1- Gold metallic with a gold interio. I was told by Galen Govier that there were only 3 ZZI Hemi Chargers made in 1967 and 2 of thise cars had black interior and one had Gold Interior. I have the Gold interior. I have spent 3 years refresing the car, complete engine rebuild, front end, new driveshaft, new brakes, power steering and so many small items that my spreadsheet of parts bought is three pages. Finding OEM parts for the 1967 Charger Hemi is so hard and so expensive had I known that ahead of my purchase of the car, I may have passed. But now that I finished the car, I'm glad I stuck it out and have finished the car. I have been a long time muscle car Owner of every muscle car from Chevelles, GTO, Cutlass, Datsun 280ZX, Roadrunner, Corvettes and even just sold my 1936 Packard 120B this year. If the car is a good running and maintained car, it will bring more money than one pays for it. I don't flip cars, I drive them for 5-15 years depending on how much I enjoy the car. A few years back I was trying to retire and I sold 6 cars, so I am down to 3 and 2 daily drivers. Cars are a great hobby and not nmeant to make money on them but it helps if you come out on the upside. Great show, enjoy watching.

It has a TBI 454 with 4L80E auto transmission. 1991 was the only year a 1-ton square body ever came with an overdrive transmission. It also has 1-ton 4X4 drivetrain with a NP205 transfer case, Dana-60 front axle, and a 14-Bolt full floater rear axle. It is a rust free truck that spent it's whole life in the dry dessert of Las Vegas.

I have been watching the values of cars in general much more closely since 2020 there was definitely a bubble which has popped and cars are definitely sitting much longer before being sold after the craze that happened post Pandemic. There are exceptions of course but in general cars are sitting longer and when they do finally sell they usually are discounted multiple times before they finally sell when during the post Pandemic boom people could ask CRAZY prices and get them without hesitation. 🤔

I owned a 1970 B4 blue Dodge Charger R/T that I bought new in October 1970. 440 Magnum 375 HP, Hurst 4 speed pistol grip shifter Dana 3.55 with Sure-Grip. Super Trac Pak.
It was almost undrivable. The clutch was more than difficult, particularly in heavy traffic. No sound insulation. It was a pure automobile. No options, no power anything. Very heavy steering. Manual drum brakes. When I got down on the brakes, the car would swerve 3 ways at once.
Only because I am a master driver and drag racer could the beast "Blue Flame" be safely driven on public roads.
Based on my 7 years experience with Blue Flame, my opinion is that Dodge Daytona's, especially those with 4 speed tranny are essentially worthless as far as being a driveable car. As rare collectible cars and visually unique cars, they should be valuable.
PS: I sold Blue Flame to raise the money to buy the Dodge Daytona in Columbus GA.

You are correct. I have a 93 gmc typhoon and I'm getting a complete rewire of the car. Its getting a maxxecu to control the car. The problem i had was hard starts and the distributor and old ICM was barely up to control it back in the day but after years the electronics are toast. The custom harness and the maxxecu with some upgrades in the injectors and fuel system is costing me 15k. The guy who had it before me rebuilt the engine and transmission with forged internals and arp hardware. Rebuilt the transmission. Only 4k in mileage was put on it after he built it. My thinking is he probably couldn't keep it running because of the failure of the ignition system which the typhoon and syclone are known to be hard on in stock form. Also have an 87 grandnational with 74k miles and i wanted to upgrade it a little my slightly better than stock build which my grandnational still has stock engine, transmission, and rotation assembly now hos 500hp/600tq. It's as fast as a camaro zl1. All this for the low price of 20k. The wiring was crusty and worn out. My other car is a cutlass supreme 72 442 tribute. It has a mondello built 455 425hp/ 518tq monster engine. Very fun to drive. Keep the oil changed, tune it, buy a battery every couple of years, put gas in it and its good to go.

My 71 dart everything works great on it electronically but like all cars it needs care to stay on the road. When people can't buy the parts they need to keep things going, that is the means to an end.

Obviously, prices on musclecars, and NOT just MOPARS are soooo out of wack for the average muscle car enthusiast, it's insane. But the trend is not new. Ever since 'Wall Street' decided musclecars were great "investments" it took the hobby away for those who have owned them when new, or anyone elese who just wanted a fun weekend toy. Look at today. 70% are living paycheck to paycheck, yet classic musclecars are still pulling in stupid money. When you see clapped out gen 2 Chargers pulling in $30k you just have to think a huge correction is in the making. Hopefully soon.

I think people are talking about lower end cars when they say prices are coming down. Driver quality cars which I think are and will come down because people are tighter on money right now due to the economy and many need cash and I think that will continue and even escalate. I believe that higher end cars are going up because wealthy people are looking for places to put their money. Places they feel are safe whether it be classic cars, real estate, art, gold, etc. I think they are worried about the direction of the economy and the stability of the banks and they want to feel like their money is safe. In the past they would look offshore but the problems in the system today are world wide so they are seeking other options. I follow politics closely and this is what I think I’m seeing.

I have been buying cars since the mid 1980s and i can tell you the prices have gone wayyyy up in 35 yrs - you could find a nice Nova or early 70s camaro for 4 k in 1987 Now those cars are going for 18 to 30k the 67 to 69 camaros are selling for even more- a rusty one w no engine 8-10k - that bonkers - anything w a factory Hemi is now out of reach of the average gear head - corvettes are also big money - heck even the pinto and Vega are fetching big money and they were junk when new - rusted out fast and iron duke 4 was a turd. In just the last 4 years all classic cars have jumped in price as compared to the last 15 yrs - Its s shame because there is a ton of car guys that are priced out of the market - I understand times change and cars gain in value but its out of hand now - I think the 1960s to 1980s 80 muscle cars are a great investment- they will really go up in value if they outlaw the ICE - times they are a changin

There will always be certain makes and models from every generation that will be highly sought after. Granted there will always be plain-jane run of the mill cars that wont be worth anything but thats true for all generations. Not every car from the 60s is desirable/collectable same is true now theres cars being produced right now that someone 20+ years from now will want for their collection or for nostalgic purposes.

The specific cars you showcase here are the exception as extremely rare cars usually are. There is always some person willing to over pay for something that nobody else has. Interesting that the folks who lost money in your example after paying buyer premium and seller fees. What is the net gain or loss?
My AZ friend 69 Mach 1 is one of many that isn’t really rare but it’s still very in demand, keeping its value high. My 72 429 LTD convertible is one of only 588 built with the BBF in 72 according to Marti, but it has never been or will ever be as desirable as the mass produced 69 Mach 1.

Will make a 2nd video regarding the cars your talking about. Remember they are based off of the stability at the top of the market.

Just think the 20 year old are saying it’s not fast it don’t handle it don’t stop oh and it’s ugly it must be a boomer car give me a reliable Tesla and I agree

The boomer enthusiasts who are interested in these cars are aging out and the younger crowd isn't interested in these things. Values on these cars will crash in the next decade.

Keep telling yourself that. Very few 90s cars have the draw a muscle car has. Ever watch any of the fast and furious movies? Mopars as far as the eye can see. In 20 years are people going to go to mediums to bid on a Honda? A few maybe but the muscle cars are the last cars not made in Italy that have personality.

Oh that's where you're half right, the young generation are VERY interested in these cars, it's just hard to relate to them when they are so priced out of range we look towards more affordable stuff be it oddball or 4 door versions which the boomers get confused by when they've priced the market where it's at

@@somerandomness4285 You nailed it. I'm 25 and have no hope in Hell right now of even touching one of these vehicles. I understand legacy and all of that but, that can't be the only value driver. When these cars hammer for the astronomical price I remember they paid for all that comes with late 60s early 70s UAW build quality. The car is still made from plain screws, hard plastic, and cheap vinyl slapped together. The only thing that drives value for me is the analog nature of these cars making them infinitely serviceable.

Blue Chip investment cars are just that folks sell them when they want to make money. Individuals who have the money to buy said cars know when to sell their investments.

you can build a 60s mustang FB from new stamped steel parts essentially a retromod kitcar and it is stronger, lighter, better built and has all the modern mods and upgrades for well under 100k or as cheap as you are willing to go with proper parts... no loss or damage to the museum pieces but 1000x the fun and joy and a .01 percent of the cost... win win win.. they can have these old milliondollar buckets... everyday cars are now faster safe quieter(clunks/rattles) sound as good or better, handle better and look just as good albeit different ... this over priced mopar market will die when the last of the greatest generation is in wheelchairs.. its just not sustainable.. everything is becoming throwaway.. grandmas silver/china and grampas mopar are just things to sell and cash out of. the world has changed.. it is what it is.

It's cool if you have millions of dollars to spend on the best of the best, but, what good are they if you don't drive them?, the cars you've listed are museum pieces!, if I had this kind of coin I'd buy these and drive the snot out of them just to piss off all of the purists! 😃😃😃
