Mmm coffee 😋 That chipper is OUTSTANDING and your little JD trailer is doing also a great job 💪💪👍👍👌👌😇😇 GP you will never ever believe what I did manage to carried in that trailer ( from children garden tractor tour, to heavy firewood, large rocks, steels and even myself for a afternoon nap 🤣👌) Drink water for sure 👍😉 Enjoy your week end Sir Cheers 🍻🍻
Get a hand coffee grinder and a French press coffee maker. A lovely morning ritual, can heat the water with electricity, gas or solid fuel. Diversification!
I noticed that your trailer has stake pockets. You could make some very light weight panels for the front and two sides and almost double the capacity of your trailer. And Gord...Dump and pull forward. And invest in a pitch fork! Proper tool for the job makes life easier! Trying to move mulch with a shovel is an exercise in frustration. LOL!
Nice video as usual. You are correct that RK dump cart is a little on the expensive side BUT its worth it ! You wouldn't have to go back and spread your chips. Just slowly dump the cart with your hydraulics. Its the same with dirt or any other material you put in there. It comes with the hoses to attach to your hydraulics and 2 different ways to attach to your tractor. There is nothing else to buy. i am doing similar to what you are. i have Woodmax 8800 full hydraulic chipper and a 43HP JD. I feed it right into the cart GREAT advice on the chipper. I almost broke my wrist twice with kick back from a gravity feed chipper. That's why i went hydraulic feed.
For a gravity fed chipper yours seems to do a good job pulling in the brush. Excellent safety tip to stand to the side when feeding the chipper. Job well done, keep up the good work and have a great day!
As others have suggested, adding extensions to your trailer would increase the volume. But it would cut down on your number of breaks! It's not always about getting the job done faster but enjoying what you're doing. Lol As far as trying to 'tailgate' the chips with a larger trailer. It doesn't work. I built my own for the atv, 4' x 6' with 14" sides, all aluminum box. The tailgate hinges from the top or bottom. I've tried dumping chips from it hinged both ways, even with a 13" opening they just ball up. I just take the gate off and haul a little less. And for the most part, I don't loose much because it all binds together. I just dump large piles near where I need them and spred with the tractor like you did. Keep up the great videos!
It looks like you could build wooden extensions on at least three sides, maybe even the tailgate if it was removable, for dumping. It would double the volume of the trailer.
Always enjoy spending a 20 minute day with you GP. Your videos are the fastest. You always seem to get so much accomplished in a days work and share it with us. Thank you for all the hard work and all the effort of filming it for us. Have a great week my friend.
Great video Gord. I use the same trailer occasionally for the exact same thing. You can increase the trailers capacity 30% more by adding some wooden sides to the top.
Thank you again for a nice video. When i spread those types of chips i always use a 4 tine pitch fork, it is much faster and easier to spread with. My 2 cents.
Hey Gord totally enjoying your videos... suggestion... you need to make your JD trailer powered... get your buddy to weld a2x2" flat steel to the sides and a deck (sized to hold a winch)to the top of the tongue of your JD trailer.... some square tubing fit between the 2x2 drill a hole so it swivels... tube length be a little longer than the distance of dumping the box (from flat to fully dumped)... pulleys fastened to the top of the tubing... fasten winch set up cable to a push/pull system.. boom dump trailer powered by your atv...
@@GPOutdoors a really good friend of mine did something like that to an atv trailer. I’m hoping to do the same. But for my lawn tractor. I don’t have an atv lol
Gord I purchased an ATV30 dual axle dump trailer made right here in Ontario. If I remember correctly Elmira. Holds a cubic metre and carries a ton and is a self dump. Best of all came in Kubota orange. It follows and atv or the bx23s with ease. Cost was just over $1200 a couple of years ago. It didn't break the bank.
You want to consider getting a portable coffee grinder instead of the coffee chopper that you used. Grinding coffee beans releases more of the flavour. We converted a few years back.
Hey Gordon, please try this suggestion with the next brush pile you have. Continue to feed the hopper as you have with the pieces brush that have multiple branches or leaves. But once you start chipping the rods or poles without any crown, please try feeding them, skinny end first! Let me know what you think. Some kickback can occur. But, I believe you'll like the way they work themselves in the chipper with much less craziness. Thanks
Good morning Gord, getting a lot cleaned up and ready for the trail repairs looks great. Stay safe up there and keep up the fun and great videos. Fred.
Nice job as usual! The only thing I would say is regarding coffee-- if you're grinding your own beans you have to go get a burr grinder! Makes a better cup of coffee! And you deserve it!
How's she goin'? That chipper is some nice GP. Really does a nice job on those limbs and it'll be nice mulch for your trials. Staying hydrated is very important. Good for you to take some breaks. Have a safe week my friend!!!
GP, you might want to get a mulit tine pitch fork if you keep chipping wood. It will go into a pile of chips much better than a shovel and easier to use....
From Queensland Australia, and live on 5 acres of bushland, I know what you're saying re smaller trailer, I tow a 10' x 5' twin axle tipper trailer behind the BX Kubota but it's very cumbersome and the little ride on mower trailer way too small and too low to tip effectively - Love your videos.
I drove by a couple of those hyd trailers today at a local Rural King. I have a recuring use for one but the price is more than I want to spend right now, besides I am out of covered space.
Hi GP, I have a Woodland Mills trailer and I use it all the time. They have redesigned the trailer recently and it looks even better than the original. It has similarities to the one Mike Morgan had. Like you I only recommend things that I have full confidence in. The price is quite reasonable, compared to anything tractor related.
Morning Joel. Thanks for the info - I checked their website a few weeks ago and i could not find any trailer there - I assumed they stopped making them. i'll check again - cheers!
A modification I have done to my 3 pt chipper is to add a hitch point to the wood chipper to bring a garden trailer to the chipping site and blow it directly into the trailer. Saves have to use two vehicles. It certainly adds length to the tractor and a level of maneuverability issues, but is handy for small cleanup jobs. A lot of brush fits into a small trailer. Hitch is a 3pt drawbar I already had, with a weld on 3 pt swivel end on one side of the chipper frame and a custom made quick release on the other from 1/2 x 3 flat bar notched for the opposing 3/4 “ drawbar pin with a clamshell locking gate on a bolt pivot. A welder , drill (press), hole saw matched to the pin size and small grinder with cut off blade is the tools you required. The utility trailer runs offset to one side to be directly behind the outlet shoot of the chipper and away from the brush funnel or angle trailer to the side for more room and rotate the shoot to match.
Another great one GP. I have that little red dump trailer! I use it every time I do firewood! It has a manual jack if you don't have it hooked to the tractor too.
Hwey threre GP. Man, those deer flies are bad. I have yellow pine flies that land and sting immediately upon latching onto your skin. Tender spot on the neck and back of head seem to be their target areas. I wear a screened net over my hat but some days (like today) are too scorching hot. Enjoyed a full-watch. Have a fine week. Don 👍🏽🙂 6/22/22
Hey so wonderful to hear from you Houndsman!! I hope you are keeping safe and well. Yup, same thing with he Deer flies - they go after ears, mouth, nose, back of the neck. LOL. geez - too many right now. :)) They keep diving underneath the back of my overalls and I can't reach them. LOL! Stay well!
I have the ABI Attachments dump trailer, has an electric box lift, big balloon 25" tires on torsion axles with brakes on one axle, tail light and wire harness to connect to your atv. Very well built and I'm very satisfied with it. Bosski ATV Wagon Trailer
Gord, always love your videos! I have a suggestion for a trailer with limited dump. I rebuilt a utility trailer frame, added a wooden bed and sides (removable) 6' x 4'. I got the frame from CTC 40 years ago for $250. I don't use a ball hitch but a pin to connect to a drawbar in my quick attach. When I want to "dump", I pull the rear side panel and lift the quick attach right to the top. Then you easily pull out the chips with a rack.
Morning GP... It looks like you have slots in the front and sides of that little green trailer to put side boards into. I did this to mine and tripled the volume. Cheers...
Good morning Gord, hey, on those trailers, I had one and sold it 'cause I had no use for it, at the time, now I wish I had it back! Ain't that always the way? Anyway, mine was built by and named Pronovost out of Quebec. It was / is, a dandy sized at 1.5 ton, for my ATV ( like yours ) and my tractor too. Oh yes, my trailer had a manual hand hydraulic pump and dumping system, that worked really well with no fuss with wiring or 'wet' hose connections. You might want to go check their website. Good luck.
It's nice to know you have to take breaks. We're the same age and I was starting to get a complex watching you work as much as you do with no breaks. I had a thought for you. Since you are such a coffee guy you ought to think about selling your own brand of coffee on your website. Just work an agreement with a current coffee company, such as Black Rifle, to repackage their coffee with GP Outdoors branding.
I need a trailer too. I bought a utility trailer from a neighbor and hope to build one but never find the time. I hope you do a video on what you find for trailers. A couple tractor stores around here have had a Normand trailer built in Quebec I believe. But that was quite a while ago.
Hi again Gord, I had a small trailer similar to yours. I simply added sides to it. I now have a dump trailer that works perfect. Contact RL equipment in Verner On. they have some in stock. It is surprising how much you use it once you have one. I use it to haul fill , gravel spreading, firewood, etc. I highly recommend getting one.
You mention getting attacked by flies in the bush. Have you tried the Thermocell units you can hang on your clothing or belt. My wife used to get eaten alive in her large garden. With the portable units she can stay in the garden now .
500 devil lbs dump should do, easiest way is a drive up on platform like a light weight dog house u move around to wear u r working, that way if not DIY log cabin good u can still in a day or two hve a platform like trailers use to unload to higher ^ ht or u can dump it safe on back out full or partial dump.
Good morning. Another option that I have found that works great for me is the Titan quick hitch dump box. I have the 30 cu ft one which is hydraulic dump. If I heap it and also fill my front bucket I can carry roughly a third of a cord of wood at a time. Also easy to backup cause it’s on your 3pt hitch. Check it out if you have a minute sometime. Love your channel. Thanks.
Morning Andy - it's a STIHL - did a review on it last summer along with some other chainsaw stuff. I am not very happy with it - it is kind of cheaply made and fits small. Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors check out chainsaw girl (out of Denmark), I just watched her review of helmets, the Protos (serious $) is her choice, my Stihl vs a Protos…what is my head worth?
If you didn’t have the tractor and thus the 3 pt hitch chipper (such as my case) would you still get a chipper? If so what hp would you recommend for soft wood of similar dimensions as yours? In a sense do you have the chipper for the trail improvement use?
Hey good day David. Yes, for sure I would - chips are great for so many things - paths, forest trails, gardens, landscaping etc and in fact Joe , at Ohio Wood Burners is now making money off of selling his hardwood chips to store ( for barbeques/smokers) - the alternative is to burn it. And we usually have a burn ban on for most of the year so very few opportunities to burn. Although this might sound a little nerdy, I feel good knowing that when we drop a tree, we use the whole tree - firewood, or mill wood and we chip the branches. That being said, I have only used two standalone chippers - one you never saw on the channel because it was so terrible, that I chose not to show you folks. The other was the Split Fire 4090 (several videos on it on the channel starting at video #306 and a few more thereafter). Awesome unit but commercial grade and price so it may be more than you might want on your property ( the unit and pricing is on their website). Towed great behind my small ATV, the tractor and can be towed on the road. It has about a 10 HP Honda engine on it. It was a 4" chipper but based on using it, and the other one with a smaller engine , I would for sure get something with around a 10 HP engine, that has a tow hitch for your ATV or whatever you use to pull it. It should have reversible blades. Preferably a unit that you know you will have easy access to parts such as the blades, engine etc, and should have some kind of slip clutch or sheer bolt type feature to protect the engine from the regular shock/energy caused by the larger size limbs contacting the rotor. Sorry I could not help further but hope this helps a little bit. Good luck!
@@GPOutdoors Hi and thanks, great answer. I have 24 acres with about 30% maple in Western Qc that is quite steep in parts so a tractor is not possible even if I could find the $. I have a Foreman atv so tow-behind is the way it will happen, I had looked at Wallenstein, but not Split Fire but now I will. Burning is such a time consuming hassle plus fire risk. Cheers.
I always enjoy watching your videos. It's like talking to my neighbor Over The Back Fence. Do the wood chips on the trail inhibit growth of weeds, or is it just a way of keeping your feet out of the mud?
Hi Gord, Great videos, I am new to the tractor world and in the market for a new woodchipper, I am looking at the Beco 5 inch chipper and the Woodlands WC 68. You have 2 great videos using these products which one would you buy between the two to go on a brand new B2601. I am concerned the woodlands seemed sometimes hard to load bigger branches with the self feeding .I will mostly will be chipping 4 to 5 inch .Thx Greg
Really enjoy your videos. I've been wondering if you are always at your property by yourself or if your family is with you, but prefer to remain out of view of the camera? Also, how far is it from your home to your property and how much time do you spend at your property on the average per month? If you prefer not to to respond, I'll understand.
Wow, Gord, that was quite a bit of debris. Was that from the big storm? Also, next time you and the boys are planning on doing a major logging event, let me know. I'll send you some medium roast from Death Wish Coffee. That stuff has so much caffeine you'll be up for days hehe :0).
Good morning GP I would so love to have a chipper. It would be so handy to have . I know I would use it a lot .. But it is just not in the budget right now.. some day. I do have a question. Do you think it chips fresh new cut limbs easier then the dried ones like in your video from your home.. And deer flies don’t stop for any type of spray.. They have one purpose in life BITE the crap out of you.. hahahah As always stay safe and always be kind. Cheers my friend..
LOL! I think you are right Gus! God question - I honestly can't answer it - a few folks have asked. I know it is harder to chainsaw dry wood but not sure if I have ever noticed a difference chipping it. Have a wonderful week Gus - say hi to Sally!

Hey Terry! Kind of like putting wood chips in your garden - helps to inhibit weed growth. And a little nicer to walk on. Cheers!
Hi Gord, Great videos, I am new to the tractor world and in the market for a new woodchipper, I am looking at the Beco 5 inch chipper and the Woodlands WC 68. You have 2 great videos using these products which one would you buy between the two to go on a brand new B2601. I am concerned the woodlands seemed sometimes hard to load bigger branches with the self feeding .I will mostly will be chipping 4 to 5 inch .Thx Greg
one again great video lovely property just how many acres are you on
Nice one GP.. Wondering if or when the flies are going to make their appearance….?
Really enjoy your videos. I've been wondering if you are always at your property by yourself or if your family is with you, but prefer to remain out of view of the camera? Also, how far is it from your home to your property and how much time do you spend at your property on the average per month? If you prefer not to to respond, I'll understand.
💥 Hey Gord, I was wondering if you still had the flail mower? They do such a great job of maintaining trails.
*Keep on tractoring!*
Hey Jon! I only had it on loan for a summer but yes, would be great for managing trails. :)) Hope you and your family are doing great!
@@GPOutdoors Just arrived at the cabin! Life doesn’t get any better than this! 😁
I always enjoy the time I spend hanging out with you GP! Would the trailer Courtney sells over at Good Works Tractors, work for what you want/need? 😁
Morning DA! I will check it out - I watch him regularly but not sure I saw it. Thanks!
Wow, Gord, that was quite a bit of debris. Was that from the big storm? Also, next time you and the boys are planning on doing a major logging event, let me know. I'll send you some medium roast from Death Wish Coffee. That stuff has so much caffeine you'll be up for days hehe :0).
LOL! Cheers Sonic!
Good morning GP
I would so love to have a chipper.
It would be so handy to have . I know I would use it a lot .. But it is just not in the budget right now.. some day.
I do have a question.
Do you think it chips fresh new cut limbs easier then the dried ones like in your video from your home..
And deer flies don’t stop for any type of spray.. They have one purpose in life BITE the crap out of you.. hahahah
As always stay safe and always be kind.
Cheers my friend..
LOL! I think you are right Gus! God question - I honestly can't answer it - a few folks have asked. I know it is harder to chainsaw dry wood but not sure if I have ever noticed a difference chipping it. Have a wonderful week Gus - say hi to Sally!
The coffee pour.....made me want to pee.
LOL! Cheers C2!
GP I’m disappointed, I thought you were a Tim Horton kind of guy. With the Tornado that came through our area I have a couple of days of chipping myself. Be careful.
LOL! I expected that comment from a Canadian. Cheers Tony!

LOL. Not at all Skeets! So much going on of late but let's stick to our guns, so to speak!
Black Rifle coffee is kind of over rated; however, their Prius is the best.
