    I upgraded the bearings and the shocks on my hornet and used special oil in the gearbox, it went like sh*i of a shovel!

      @@richardbradley2641 lol! I bet it did! 🤣 Mine on the grass with a flat 6.6v battery was probably the worst I’ve seen it go, not a good demo. The only decent battery I had went flat in the Hotshot. Up and down the drive with a 2s lipo it goes like stink and takes off over the slightest bump!

      @@jason.bochniak How long did/do your batteries last? The model shop told me 15-20 mins run time per charge, I got 40-45 mins per battery after the upgrades even if fast charged!

    • @jason.bochniak
      @jason.bochniak  3 місяці тому

      The 2S 3100 stick pack ran for about 18mins after a full balanced charge in then Hotshot. The 6.6V Tamiya Life battery only lasted about 2 mins but I’ve just realised, I swapped it into the hornet and I thought it was flat after another 30 seconds. The problem is the ESC is set to high cut off in the Hornet which is for Lipo. The life batteries have a low cut off setting so I think there would be more juice in it. I’m going to fully charge it and have another run test. I haven’t tried the new 2S lipo shorty yet other than on the bench. It does spin the wheels up a lot faster though!

      Thank you. Lots of time, patience and a lot of mistakes too. Each one is better than the last with practice. I started with the single colour ones like Buggy Champ and Fighting Buggy, then the Rangers with the extra black then attempted the mother of all paint jobs, the Sand Scorcher. Totally messed the red & yellow one up and had to start again. Annoying at the time but I learnt a lot from it. My top tips, if it’s any help are good preparation, sanding and priming with light sanding before top coats. Good neat masking with the right tapes, light coats of colour coats with one final heavier coat to finish. If you’re painting two tone, give the paint at least a week to harden before masking. Check the weather, make sure the humidity is low but warm enough and your paint is warm, I put mine in a bucket of hot water before painting and if you get any little bits in the paint, you can wet sand them out with 2-3000 grit sand paper then polish with either car body polish or use the proper Tamiya polishes and sponges, which I have just invested in and yet to try out. I’m planning to do a vintage blue and white version Buggy Champ with paint in the future. Good luck with your painting!

    Try putting your ESC in NiMH mode for LiFe batteries. 2S LiFe has lower peak and cutoff voltage comoared to LiPo, but similar cutoff voltage to 6 cell NiMH. Still not ideal for a race because the lower voltage means it will be slower than lipo!
