It's a rare and wonderful thing when a person can make a career out of stuff that people do when they're ten. I'm so jealous of the Paper Airplane Guy.
Always loved paper airplanes, took out books and have always made more than the average bear - which isn't that many. But this guy... he just blew my mind, especially the bit about the controversy over the nature of flight.
Wow, I actually didn't expect this to be this interesting. I'll definitely check out his website. Hopefully it will bring back some of the great childhood memories I had with paper airplanes. Thanks John!
I have an idea about the dihedral angle of the wings when they flop open, make 2 folds along the wing on the center so one down then back up so you have like a z shape sort of when you look at it front on, so when the wings "flop" due to the middle of the paper aeroplane opening up, this will avoid it and the second crease you make, you make the desired angle of the wings and they'll stay dihedral. He's probably thought of and made this obviously but that's a good idea still :)
When i heard him talking about the molecules over and under the wing having to get at the end at the same time, i was disappointed, but when he started saying the right theory, i was thinking "that man's awesome"
theyre on tour still. these guys are the original owners of the site so theyre are holding the fort till jamie and adam come back then they do more stuff together.
This guy is amazing it really makes me wish I was really interested in something like paper airplanes. It is really interesting, this guy makes things that would bore the heck out of me really interesting. Honestly the 2 other guys lift right out.
Am I only the person who was hugely surprised after seeing the preview picture when the paper airplane guy turned out to be well dressed older man and not the bearded nerd
I'm about 80% of the way though an aerospace engineering bachelors, and I was rather surprised to learn within the curriculum that even to this day the nature and cause of flight is highly contested, and has yet to be undoubtedly determined.
This is the most extremely awesome example of society allowing for specialization. 18th century blacksmith's and cobblers ain't got shit on paper airplane guy.
This was far more interesting than it has any right to be.

He is great, intelligent and knows how to explain it so it seems easy.
Agreed, this was far more interesting then i was expecting. The guy obviously loves what he does, shows in his presentation skill.

Jamie and Adam are on tour right now. The tour ends April 1st. We should hopefully see them in videos soon after.

This was a fantastic video. Keep it up guys!
As he stated, they have mathematical models that approximate the lift from the design.
XD me, too. We had an experiment at school a few months ago. The winner's plane flew 109 ft. I was so jealous...
This guy is awesome!
all the other booths probably hate this guy because he randomly throws paper airplanes all the time

"I like origami planes, most people use tape, my specialty is origami aircraft and-"
*uses tape for the world record*
the air goes under the wing in a very fast way like skipping on the tarmac
APAG - awesome paper airplane guy
I was so prepared for this guy to be a total joke....but hey, it's actually legit XD
Pretty cool.
He was awesome on Conan
Epic !
This is interesting yet the lack of metric and A4 is confusing
If you look closely you can sometimes see his walrus whiskers sneaking around the camera.
well.. it might just turbulence under the wing that makes an updraft
Guy in the middle needs to cheer up a bit and get more excited about the awesome stuff this guy is telling and showing him.
What was up with that lift "mystery"?
Is that what people used to be taught?!
