Stella Creasy, the Labour MP for Walthamstow, takes us on a tour of her north-east London constituency and shows us how gentrification is affecting the local community. One of the most culturally diverse parts of London, Walthamstow has seen a slow trickle of middle-class newcomers and a somewhat sharper rise in house prices

@@Zeczam you sound like one of those people from a brough in London that has some kind or right over it, like it owes you. People travel in and out of the borough for decades.. In fact humans migrated around this world for hundreds of years.
If you call a place your home then your a local.

MP's claim for their houses/flats and WE pick up the bill. Just a few soundbites and buzzwords about community. We all know that property prices are way too high and there is a housing crises.The last labour government failed to adress the problem started by Maggie and now this government is carrying on much the same.If your happy with the way things are in your part of the country then just carry on voting for the same.If not,THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE.

These yuppies and rich have replaced the local born and bred Londoners who are all moved out to Essex long time ago, London has become unaffordable it's unfair for many .
Yes - the rental prices are high in Walthamstow, but they are just as high everywhere else. London town is full of estate agents and landlords ripping people off. A lot of Londoners are spending one third or two thirds of their monthly salaries on rent.
Rich white middle classes move in shut the rds n have their own little towns

Why are so may areas in London being gentrified? These gentrifiers keep talking about diversty and the area being friendly but the new people moving in are ruining things.

as of 2018 the population of Walthamstow is/was 276,700and they all DON'T live in the village (I absolutely hate that phrase)

I had to leave London. Wasn't safe any longer. Could not go out without being sexually assaulted or harrased. By her beloved imports. I miss a English London. What's been done is so wrong. It breaks my heart.

Other UK cities are not safe and very segregated and racist today like Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool there cities are also riddled with crime .

Having met her as a Walthamstow Resident my whole life I can clearly say she really understands Walthamstow and she cares hugely about the communities in Walthamstow, I think she is doing an absolutely amazing job.
She hasn't done anything for Walthamstow. She's a politician, an upper class toff one at that.

Good luck to Ms Creasy in her role as advocate for Walthamstow, although her view here is more than a little 'village-centric', so to speak. I'm not sure if it applies to the badlands of Higham Hill or to the other suburbs of Warsaw and Vilnius to be found on her constituency's fringes. I've been doing my best,to lower the tone in and around some of the key tourist destinations, but it's an uphill struggle. Anyway, to business: I haven't eaten for three days, so do you have any spare change?
