Had NO Idea at first that Joel was Australian...but JEEZ Rebecca is British??? Wow...gotta give it to them for their American Accents in movies...

I only remember Rebecca from the prestige which she had a British accent but Joel threw me off because I only saw him in warrior. When I checked out his films prior to warrior it hit me that he was in the Australian film animal kingdom and it blew my mind lol.

Ye Brit actor seem to be doing good at nailing American accents these days... (and australians) I remember when because Hugh Laurie done such a good job doing the American accent in House he got HUGE praise for it, now it seems to be generally expected

He’s dinky dy Aussie! And If you enjoyed Joel Edgerton and his style of writing please don’t miss “Felony” also on Stan. it’s a very truthful movie and I think it’s quite difficult for many to watch for this reason rather because some of us have driven while under the influence or because we would have done as Joel’s character. As it happens the term Felony is not actually used in the Australian Police Force. Just saying. There’s so many of us who have been guilty of the crime over the years. “The incident (accident) scene I at the beginning was filmed on Bunnerong Rd Matraville near the site of a real Police accident where a Police car came over the crest of the hill at speed, getting airborne, losing control and hitting a child killing the child instantly. This incident occurred in the 1990's from memory.” Anyone living in the Sydney basin will check this out, I know I would if still living in the Rabbit warren. Another reason I completely love Joel’s writing.

Rebecca Hall is the daughter of Sir Peter Hall one of the UK’s most famous directors. He ran the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre in London. She comes from theatrical royalty.

Finding out it was “Gordo” who made the film was literally as shocking as the ending. Mind blown 🤯
    Not even joking.

Jason Bateman is so good in this movie that I can watch it over and over again and never get sick of it.

I’m always blown away by the craft of acting. It’s just amazing to me how they can transform (believably) into a character that is completely different than their own natural self.

Re: Aussie and British actors being so good at nailing American accents, apparently they’re often taught that in acting classes, as being able to pull that off afford them MANY more opportunities.
In The Gift, you can hear a very little bit of Rebecca’s natural accent coming through at times. But all three of them were amazing in this film.

Excellent movie! Congrats to everyone, actors and Joel Edgerton. This is my take: (SPOILER) Well, Gordo was tormented all these years for what Simon did to him. He was willing to let go when he wrote the phrase " Simon, after all these years I was willing to let bygone be bygone" but by Simon tracking him down and messing him up, fueled that sense of revenge ("you are done w/ the past, but the past is not done w/ you"). With the sling, He was playing off Robyn's sympathies but never tells her Simon was responsible, deep down he is not a bad guy. Robyn starts hating Simon because she finally has the truth about Simon, a deceptive individual. Taking the sling off at the end means, "Done and over w/ Simon". and last but not least, Simon is a character who uses deceptions as well and does not give a damn about damaging other's people's life, whereas, Simon is a little bit off and weird but he ain't evil, he did not rape Robyn.

Just watched this movie again tonight and was just as powerful as when I first saw it. It's so rare that we get a grounded thriller which doesn't rely on cliche genre troupes, though it uses them in a unique and authentic way. No "conventional movie villain" and it relays each character's point of view with authenticity. Great film. Kinda need to revisit The Stranger again now.

Where is Joel Edgertons head, that’s what I want to know.😂 Well I know actually because I’ve met many socially awkward people in my life. Usually trying to hit onto my girlfriend over dinner.
