A Master of comedy, this man. We should all give him his due, and refer to him as "Master Bateman".
Just saw “Air” and it was great. No one delivers a line like Jason Bateman. He’s the best.
Smartless got me through so many Amazon delivery shifts. It was a rough job but it became a dream job with an amazing podcast in my ears. Love you all so much
Love that Podcast literally the moment that “Dundudadu dundunda” music starts I feel better. Just going to click the icon n see the guest I out loud say “Aw Yeah 🤙🏾🤟🏾”
Thank you for your service, Diana! And yes, Smartless is good when you have hours to fill.
Excellent banter with two funny humans.
OMG "are they moving dime bags out there" I almost died, thanks Jason.
No, sweetie, you most certainly did NOT ''almost die'' and you obviously have not been in the presence of death if you throw this word around so easily. How cringe.
OMGoodness. You have got to be kidding the saying is " I died laughing" You OBVIOUSLY have no idea what @dennisrush9179 has been through to have the balls to say that....How cringe.@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849lmfao omg, what a dramatic post. She’s just saying it’s funny, chill out ms close to death ☠️ 😂
Love the longer hair on him. I love this guy.
I love it when Jason calls me "listener." I feel so seen.
Pretty sure I’ll always love Jason Bateman. Such a cool guy
Do you curse around them?
No just at them! 😂
Jason bateman is such a great actor. He can be so funny and also so creepy and so mean in his roles
Actual legend.
Seth always thinking of us 🐾💙 correcting himself and saying he's BEEN TOLD it's bleeped.
Do you think it's the point now that when Seth makes a mistake in his personal life, even something small and inconsequential, he says to himself, "oh no... what would Jackals say?"
@@silverblue73 Oooh, I hope Seth sees/saw your comment and lets us know. If I go to the show, that would be my question.
"Seeeeeaaaaannnn..."
Justin Bateman has that quickwit and charm that's as deliciously attractive and timeless as that hair of his. Love the banter with these two.
Love Jason Bateman. Always have since first seeing him on TV in the eighties
100% with Jason Bateman on this one. It's so presumptuous that famous people want to stay in a theater after a 2 hour show. I was a stage actress for over a decade, and even I hated being there after the show 🤣🤣🤣 And noooo I didn't want anyone holding me up just to say something they could e-mail, or tell me over lunch. It's mortifying to sit there and have to act like you're not tired cus someone "graced you with their presence" anyway! Pleasantries are the worrrst.
Like, unless you got a job for me, why we wasting time? 😂 Accolades ain't never paid the bills boo! 😂😂
"Arrested Development" is one the greatest tv shows ever made, anyone remember the one where David Cross's character's hair caught on fire, and he was frantically trying to get into the pool that Gob had installed a clear shield over, and as the closing credits rolled, you could hear (from offscreen) a voice crying out, "Dear God, why can't I get UNDER the water?"
Love Bateman and have heard of arrested development but never seen and have no clue about it. Is it worth it?
@@Orrphan Oh yeah, it's friggin' hysterical. My comment got 30 likes so far, that means at least 30 peeps remembered AND took the extra step of thumbing up.
But if by "worth it" you mean having to sit through commercials, then still, yes.
(Btw, seasons 1, 2, and 3 are on Netflix AND Hulu, but 4 and 5 are only Netflix. So no ads there.)
@@reesetorwad8346 OK, thanks. I’m not so concerned with commercials I just want to know if it’s a good show. I seem to like everything Jason does, and was wondering if this was on par with his humor and delivery, or just good acting. Became even a bigger fan after the movie “bad words” even though it’s a lesser-known comedy. One of my favorite movies.
@@Orrphan It actually stuns me that you specifically mention "Bad Words" (one of my own favorites) because it's clear now to me that if you choose to watch "Arrested Development"...you are in for a treat, that's all...I envy you. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Just watch the first three eps, before you decide...please.
@@reesetorwad8346 Lol, ok will do. Thanks for the insight on this. I’m kinda excited now. “Uh, first of all, you’re welcome”
Every time I see Jason Bateman in anything he's great, but he's also always Jason Bateman
Years ago I was at IKEA in Burbank at the play area with my 2 year-old and Mr. Bateman was next to me with his kids. He was so good with his daughters. Didn't talk to him. Wish I did, but also wanted to give him space. One of the better non-interactive run-ins I've had here in LA.
the most sincere handshake on television in 20 years
I had no idea Bateman was so naturally funny. Amazing.
If you watch any of his (and Will Arnett's) interviews on Conan, they (Jason and Will) just roast one another the entire time. Those old interviews are great.
I’ve had a crush on him since I was a young person and will watch anything he is in .
Same! My sister and I watched Silver Spoons in the 80s even though it was a dumb show, just for him. Even in that he was funny.
Jason is just a charming guest. I never saw him give an interview until just recently
“We lost most of our stylists to a wage dispute so Jason, we got you the same hair and make-up person from the show you were on as a child!”
- Seth MacTonighters
Great interview, Bateman has such a sharp wit and really comes across as down to earth and self aware.
wow!..& love Jason & have since his very early days on tv!👍🙂 so, I was VERY happy he was going to be on Seth's show! but how did you not SEE?? how is THAT what you came away with after watching that absolute DISASTER of an interview?? nothing AT ALL struck you as being off and/or hugely different than Seth's other interviews or Jason's behavior re: interactions with those interviewing him?? and I mean INCLUDING environment differences & the different personalities he meets up with for interviews.
and yes, I have NO idea how long you've been aware of Jason's work [or Seth's body of work, for that matter]..but to not notice that was a very WEIRD & bizarre interaction would be to not be at ALL aware of the MINIMUM re: how strange it was.
@@DiandraStarShine I'm sorry are YOU aware of what was ''off'' in this interview? Because it seems like you don't even though you're going on and on and on and on about this... As if you are trolling in fact...
Again, I really need a Jason Bateman/Steve Zahn brother film, please.
Is the fountain of youth in his hair 😂😂😂 love me some Bateman
Two of the funniest men on earth. So quick-witted. 😂
I absolutely LOVE Seth Meyers!!
He’s so funny, and he’s a very nice guy!
❤😊
He is a nice guy! :)
I also think he's quite funny, but for some reason people hate him. I bet it's 'cause he's a democrat.
@@A.Briggs628 I don't care either, I just think it's odd that people don't like him.
@@RavenclawNimbus i’ve never heard that he is generally disliked. Everything I’ve heard about him leads me to believe he has a reputation as a nice guy and that most people think he is.
Jason still has a 1980s Micheal J. Fox hairstyle. It's Great.
Jason Bateman is a handsome, talented, consummate actor from the age of 10. He’s now 54 so that’s already 44 years at the top. Aging well he seems like a great down to earth guy in real life.
Hopefully Jason becomes the the next Henry Winkler in being the most delightful person in Hollywood. He's well on his way. Fun interview.
First of all: Jason, your hair looks fantastic.
Second of all: For the all-time greatest hollow praise after a show, I refer you to the immortal lines in Amadeus, when Mozart says to Salieri after the latter's premiere, "I never knew music like that was possible. [...] One hears such sounds and what can one say but, 'Salieri'?"
He was amazing in The Gift.
Fantastic interview of Seth Meyers by Jason Bateman.
what a lovely, lovely man that is Jason.
Love this guy! Listen to their podcast every week! Best!
That improv bit was hilarious!! I love little bits of acting like that!
Jason Bateman's skin looks amazing wow
Love Jason Bateman!
Love him! He is a brilliant artist ❤ Definitely ‘if 3 to have at a dinner table’ He is number 1
My 13 year old told us she flipped a kid off that made a rude comment to her……. Only because someone saw and she wanted to preemptively tell us about it. 😂
@Heather Shaw
Yes, mitigate damage.
Be sure _you're_ the one who introduces the topic to the authority figure(s) so you can put as positive a spin on it as possible.
Ha! “The eighties were tacky.” Spot on!
In the opening credits of Valerie/Valerie’s Family/The Hogan Family, Jason is wearing a discount Bulls jersey in the opening credits of Year 2 or 3 🤣🤣🤣
His current haircut looks so good on him! What is he talking about 😂
Bateman, always a favorite.
Stay humble Bateman😆 💕👍
Doesn't age. Friggin hilarious and awesome actor. xo
My favorite actor!
Great to see Jason know how to use the word "cringey"
Oooo myyyy gawd!!! Jason looks EXACTLY like he did on the cover of the Teen Beat magazine I still have (ummm... somewhere) from 40+ years ago!!! I was expecting short hair (like Ozark) and Levi's. Cute & soooo talented!!!
re ´80s: Yes we knew!!! 🤣
Fantastic! What a joy
Jason Bateman talented. Can't wait for Air.
I love SmartLess! Having it during lockdown was a great way to pass time.
Jason is the best!!!
Oh my God that snl clip at the end was litt
LOVE JASON
Jason is such a great dude
Jason Bateman: King of the Straight man who kills a "Yes And". Amazing.
So… when and who will invite Seth to be a guest on Smartless? I already imagine it will be a fun conversation!
You have to say : "Congratulations! So proud of you!"
We need more Ozark.
Not sure it can be resurrected without some major characters, but I miss it.
Yes. I loved that show! It could’ve gone on for a few more years. The cast was excellent!
Damn he’s lookin good for his age!
Bateman never ages. Is he a vampire?
The thing Jason didn't mention about his 21st century comeback was that it was a rebranding to pretty much polar opposite. In the '80's there isn't a role I can recall that wasn't the same sleazy, smart-mouth little hustler. He was basically Eddie Haskell on Silver Spoons and every role after was more of the same until Arrested Development. Kinda cool.
Being 35 days younger than Jason I can say, without being afraid to be argued against, that he looks in mint shape
Anyone remember Jason on 'The Hogan Family' starring Sandy Duncan?
Just for the record, I saw Good night Oscar 2nd night in Chicago. It’s a great show.
Sean Hayes in Goodbye Felix at the Tabasco Theater April 23rd and you should stand up and yell “Jack” when the curtain goes up. 😅
:) Nice interview
He’s exactly the same personality as he was in the 1980s!
We Jasons always stick together.:)
Dear lawd this made me happy
I don't think Seth has been on Smartless. That needs to happen!
I listened to this great podcast with Bateman, where he was saying how he thought his career was over in the 90’s. And how Arrested saved his career
LOVE Arrested Development
Jason Bateman and Rob Lowe are so young looking.. how is that. Lol😂😂😂😂
Seth... You failed to mention his Breakout role in "VALERIE"...
80s is my favorite decade
nice catch with the beeped / bleeped. Jackals living rent free in your head
How did Bateman's star turn as Teen Wolf 2 not enter into the Hollywood basketball discussion?
I love that the title is “Jason Bateman reprimands cursing…”. I’m betting “just the tip” was a fun conversation with Jason’s daughter… 😱
HEY…I loved Miami Vice turquoise!!
Jason knows it ain't easy bein' cheezy... 😎
"If you remember the 90'ies in their entirety, you didn't really experience them AT ALL."
-- German proverb
Love Jason Bateman and think he's hilarious.
That said, he plays one character. Every role he's ever played is the exact same person. You could have told me the scene here was a clip from Ozark and I would have said okay sure.
Jason Bateman is just 3 years older than Amy Poehler. I bet she was freaking out during that skit. She was the perfect age to have a poster of him in her bedroom.
Love, love, love Justin Bateman!
Perfect opining on the greatest decade #GenX love Jason! He's a long-timer
What “Sean” are they referring to??? Sean Hayes?? I’m lost…
Ok, I've had kind of a man crush on him since I was little. I've always thought he is a better actor than most of his roles provide - until only recently. Hard to believe he's 54
What are you talking about. The eighties were great…or a least for me. Finished college, met my wonderful wife, started a great career and made some lifelong friends.
this is a low key top tier interview for me, so many funny organic moments weaved between the pre-interview topics. it may seem a bit low-key but there's a lot going on here. Seth and Jason were being incredible scene partners here, both taking the lead over one another incredibly graciously. Jason has definitely refined this style of banter incredibly well on his podcast so it's really fun to see how both of these guys tackle this conversation, especially since Bateman wasn't really trying to promote one of his big projects like Ozark
The Gift FTW.
I miss Ozark!!!!
After all these years I still have a crush on Jason Bateman. His dry, witty humor is so adorable to me.
Me too since Silver Spoons
And as he stated before, "It wasn't easy growing up sexy..." 🥰
Same. I’m 55 (a year older than him) and always thought he was really sexy. I love his deadpan humor too. ❤️
@@calisongbird I'm 30 and find him ridiculously attractive. His sarcastic humor is brilliant
Same!
