Blowing Snow with a 3-Point Snow Blower on a Case 830 Tractor/Digging Out from Another Snowstorm!

  • The Dairy Farm was hit by another snowstorm leaving behind a foot of snow. With the feed truck coming, Alan had to at least get the one driveway opened up for him to get through. To do that, Alan put our 3-point snowblower onto the 830 Case Tractor with the loader. Alan started moving some snow using the blower and the loader bucket. While Alan was clearing the driveway, Jen started shoveling snow off the roof of the dairy barn. The one side of the barn tends to drift, so the snow really accumulated quickly. The next day, we were back at it. Alan cleared a path to the dairy cow pasture in case the cows needed hay. The Dairy cows got let out to stretch their legs after staying in the barn during the storm. Jen worked on more of the roofs around the farm with a roof rake. Soon enough, it was chore time again. The cows get let back in and started getting milked.

    God Bless you on your farm as I was born 1940 and yes I can remember storms like you just got as I got older.
    When i was maybe 10 or eleven I was turned out on a Farmall M or a H with a V Plow to clean out drive ways and ours and neighbours.
    Used to get many storms like you are showing. No snow blowers back then and I can remember many storms like you are showing.
    Thanks for showing as it brings back many memories for sure.😊

    Alan and Jen, boy the picture of the 830 case blowing snow would have made a beautiful Christmas card. But it was nice watching Alan deal with the snow, with the dim lights on the tractor it was beautiful. And then Jens over there pulling down snow with some type of a rake. You have so much more snow than what we have in Western PA. Please be safe. Skip, Western PA

    I know the snow you are blowing was heavy, but I'm pretty sure your blower has a situation like mine, the paddles on the fan have a bit too much of a gap to the band. Weld something on to the ends of the paddles and you will see a remarkable difference :)

  • @bruceprentice6441
    @bruceprentice6441 Рік тому

    You get a lot of work out of your 30series Case tractors. We had a foot of snow right at Christmas, but it’s all gone now, and rained again today. The addition on my barn has a 4/12 pitch, and as you say, the wind can deliver snow off of the main barn, and make a pile 6 feet deep where it drops on the additions roof. So to allow for the extra snow load, the roof trusses in the addition are spaced at 8 inches apart for the first 10 feet, then 12 for the next 10 feet then increase gradually by 2 inch increments until they reach 3 feet apart at the end of the 60 foot long addition to accommodate the extra snow loading. We often get snow loads like you have this year, and we rarely see a roof with less than a 4/12 pitch. Most are much steeper. Many times barns with a truss roof collapse under snow load’s because the steel plates that hold the truss together rust and fall apart

      So far, this is the 2nd snowiest December on record. Duluth, just north of us, almost beat their record. Typically, by February or March, we'll have a lot of snow on the ground.
