We're still not quite up for the shooting. One of the great things about solo wargaming is savoring the set-up and decision making processes. So let's savor for another video...
@@toddcarlson5324 there's an interesting parallel with real life, isn't there. You spend all this time getting everything situated just right, and then the battle itself goes by in an eye blink.
Watching these videos is making the wait before I can move into my new place (the place is being fully renovated and then it needs to be approved by the city so... that's gonna take a while >.>) so I'll have the space and quiet I need to get back into this kind of stuff. My current living situation isn't... ideal.

The table cloth nostalgia as a backdrop is wild. The juxtaposition of artillery chess is intriguing 🤔 Eager to see how this battle shapes up. How could AD&D and Delve "magitech" reshape this scenario for Braunstein scale "intelligence gathering" from the townsfolk? Could they offer any assistance for a special forces scale pre-dawn strike on the 120mm boom boom position?
Great Video, loving the campaign. For the movement of infantry on foot, in my experience, tie into what the books suggest.. Infantry is usually trained to march at around 15min per mile depending on the nation and regiment while carrying full gear 66-80ibs sometimes more and sometimes less. They can also speed march with fighting order (weapons, webbing etc) 33ibs at 10min per mile.
Very useful info. I am wanting to do a pre battle operation like this for an ACW scenario. Deciding where to fight is so critical to results. the typical set up and fight type of game really does not fulfill the needs of the commanders as they jockey for what they feel is a favorable position. Also, working at this scale you can introduce intelligence, good or bad. Seems like an ideal fun game.
Interesting, as you go through your thought process and apply this to the situation. Given the position you are probably right to make an effort against the junction and hill, but given the advantage of heavy armour, I would probaly make the main effort against the hill, hopefully splitting and isolating the defenders. Some thoughts about scaling, I still think its too large for what you are attempting, I would be more comfortable with one inch representing a kilometre (or 2cms). This means that you can easily transfer your maps to graph paper (or grid it yourself) to make manouvre etc much easier and more tightly regulated - little bit boardgamey, but hey you are not using minis, so using counters seems to make sense as well. Look forward to the next part
@@ffilcnikrud8975 FOBbits ain't that bad usually (the bad ones usually transmutate into FOBgoblins). Annoying, yeah, but they also usually got the hook up when it comes to some dank FOBbit leaf.
Has Anyone here heard of David Heading and his book Joy of Six (mm wargaming book)? He has a new one coming out at the end of September. Looks very tempting. At least to me. Thriftbooks is carrying it and hopefully a decent discounted preorder price.
Interesting discussion and set up for the coming skirmish/battle.

Looking most excellent sir.
Can't wait to see how this battle plays out - and how the rules manage things.

Accurate, minus the strength.
