Let's see how this Napoleonic game ackshully plays. It says fast and easy on the cover, which incidentally is how I like my women.

When Empires Fall: The First Four Years
Enjoyed your review. Was consulting my copy as you spoke
They would have made for a couple of good miniature games. Thete is hope for a crumbling empire yet.
That campaign generation method is awesome! This is really inspiring me to make one too!
very enjoyable - who make are the camp set (fire pit and arms stack)?
@@regwirth3004 Alternative has a whole suite of accoutrements in 15mm, in their dungeon dressing line.
@@TheJoyofWargaming thanks
Another great play through 😊
For the love of all things holy, build/buy a gate! Completely blew my sense of disbelief! 😉🤣
Excellent play through! I believe that the NCO and Commander bonuses are not cumulative (the NCO is affected by the Commander bonus though.)
Awesome series. I have been making my way through the playlist over the last few weeks.
@@bigbattleslittleworlds your game will never be the same. A word of caution though, in our experience while implementing these things, it can feel completely wrong and awful at the time. But then you talk to the players and they enthusiastically demand more. This stuff is weird, but it works.
@@TheJoyofWargaming Sounds great, did I remember right in one of your older campaign videos you talked about having small adventureing parties off ahead of the main armies, seems like it was a few years back but seems like this would work well. I am a wargamer first but making great leaps towards getting the role playing style mixed into it.Thanks again mate.
This was a LOT of fun to watch! Victory teetered between both sides... but in the end, Lieutenant Fromage and his Parisian rabble won... while Petite d'Noble and his armed peasants slunk off back into the night! No doubt, the Sons Of The Revolution, will slaughter one of the cows... and eat well tonight. After all, they can always blame those Knaves, Louts, and Tillers Of Soil!!!!!
1 hour and 10 minutes! We are blessed with an abundance of wargame today. Thank you sir.
I agree! Alternating activations makes for a much more engaging game. One of the things I hate about GW games is that I can walk away from the table while my opponent runs his turn and he still might not be done when I get back. But I'd rather stand over the table and watch to what he is doing in real time while I'm trying to figure out my next step.
You are able to correct and rewind parts if it gets bits wrong. If you have your war rosters in a separate document, cut and paste onto chat, should speed things up.
All glory be to God!
I'm using paragraph AI for my games but it's not as smart as what you have
8:20 I don't think that's correct. There is nothing in the rules preventing you from shooting a unit that moved into contact. That is why the author says you should not charge cavalry into infantry that is not disrupted, because they will not be able to shoot you on contact and get a huge bonus for shooting cavalry. Otherwise charging heavy cavalry head on into infantry would be a winning move because of the melee bonus. Thats an elegant way to simulate stuff with fewer rules rather than more.
Recently found your channel and just finished up the playlist! Love your work. Any news on a season 2?

Amen brother, pray for me. It's a struggle everyday. God bless all
commenting as I go, the dwarves would be a nice dungeon faction
I love that there is a "no delves on Sundays" rule. God bless you all
So did you get any answers from Jim Webster as his replies here didn't address any of your comments.
I found the perfect channel, catholic homesteader playing aD&D love you guy
mate big hug from Brazil, you are so funny, I laughed so much, I am really enjoying your videos
I really enjoyed this, you have a lot of character lol
I'm late to comment on this video, but I am now just getting into Chainmail. Something I discovered is that part of the vagueness of ths document is that it has the Tony Bath rules for Peltast and Pila in the background. If you check thoserules for how they handle formation and all that, it clicks with what the folks publishing chainmail were doing.
We in the 70s at our group we read continued melee as immediate.
@@Thunorwine1 I have been convinced that this is so. It makes the fatigue rules make a lot more sense when you do it this way.
@@TheJoyofWargaming We also made archery a little less effective by removing the unarmored section of the chart (assuming everyone had some form of armor even if is was just padding)
Excellent video!! Enjoy seeing the Song of game system in action. It's a great game overall! Thanks.
Most excellent as always. Thanks for the vids n the motivation. Be well n be safe. 😊🎄
Love seeing more of this game!
Really like the ideas in Drums and Shakos. I was fantasizing about running this game as a convention multiplayer game with each team having one player playing the line linfantry, second player running the light infantry, this playing the cavalry and two moderators playing as artillery teams.
Everything derived off of song of blades heroes is Rock solid. Have you thought about playing either deep wars or mutants and death Ray guns?
@@death2all79zx Looking at the French and Indian Wars set, but didn't care for Mutants. The rules just don't create a fun or interesting experience once the big guns come out to play.
@@TheJoyofWargaming Hello Mr Wargaming picked up the French and Indian war set not long ago. looks interesting. Also picked up 1/72 French, Indian, British, and Highlanders for a test drive in the near future. Praying for you.
Good game. Love the song of rule sets
Man this hits hard. The philosophy about how things like Christmas being imbued into the game world is so simple but man you're right. The analogy about watching a Christmas show during the season vs any random other month. It's really good stuff man. I can't emphasize enough how helpful all of this is beyond the pure entertainment value of what I'm getting here. Im going to give some back as soon as I'm able. Thank you, you and people like you make this world a better place.
If you were doing some kind of campaign , say skeletons ,now they don’t hold territory you would assume , how would you incorporate that. I could only imagine them riding from tombs
Medieval rock paper scissors... I think I'll drop this into my campaign at some point....
Looking good boss.
amen GB
Love these imaginations
Looking forward to it.
Shuffling of various imperial military powers leads to rebels taking Damascus. Huh.
@@tagg1080 I really need to be more careful with these things. Or maybe I need to do a retaking of Constantinople video.
I'm surprised how such a simple form a mechanical point of view game gives something that even complex napoleonic games lack- arriving of reserves on the battlefield from every direction- most napoleonic rulesets I've seen each player advencecd foreward, which is OK if you are playing a brigade level games, but then you go for corps or army level games all hell should be let loose and the attacker units should be pouring left, right and center, like at Leipzig or Borodino. Also I like how consequential is the commitment of troops. Absolute Emperor had the whole Elan system to make generals not change orders to often. Here you just pinn guys when they shoot or get shot. That makes reserves even more important, because if you commit everything you have on the main push, the troops will not be albe to react when the enemy brings some reienforcements on the flank. Love the idea. I will need to buy some 3mm minis and try using this for historical battles. The only thing that may be a con for me is that the ruls feel a bit undercooked. Some things should be elaborated on more like interpenetration, some rules that are hinted on but never stated as written (like being able to shoot a charging enemy), I also feel it could use some more units like irregular cavalry, the distinction between heavy corps foot artillery, and lower caliber foot artillery companies on the division level. But those are things that I think should be easy to house-rule into the game.
Joy! A return to paper and dice 🎲
@16:52 1,1,2,6. Not 1,2,6,6. Hope this message helps your past self.
I have question regarding this rule: "47. A unit may shoot only ONCE during its turn. This means if a unit is charged by two attackers only one can be shot at. However, if both charging units are touching or closing to contact from the same aspect, they are considered 1 unit for target purposes.". In the rules movement has a longer distance than shooting, and shooting takes place after movement. But this paragraph suggests that you could shoot a unit charging you but there is no elebaration further on this. Anybody know how this should be interpreted?
I think I figured it out. I have brain tainted by other rulesets. Nothing in the rules prohibits you from shooting when you are in base to base contact. So even if an enemy chages and contacts you, the melee will take place after you shoot.
Your point about changing circumstances gets even deeper when playing for victory points from drawing objectives each turn (if you like that game mode).
So somewhere in this world is a faction of religious fanatic elves who fight with two handed swords.
Awesome video. I may have to look into it. Thanks for the video.
Holy cow, playing KotBL as a faction/wargame thing sounds awesome.
Zweihander Elves are extra pissed off at all times, Pointy eared menace for sure.
We're going need more dwarves.
