I bought a Husky 250 coming from 450 sport quads my entire life. After the first couple of rides I thought 'what have i gotten myself into'. Now about 6 months later I am so comfortable on that bike! So happy I got a 250 and not a 450.

Personally have to agree. I’m not even old, 28yrs old and I went from the 2017 kx450 to the 2021 kx250 and my riding has been drastically improving. I got the 250 all in the effort to make myself a better rider and told myself during the decision that I’d get a 450 again shortly after. After 6 months on the 250. I have no desire to buy a 450 again. The new 250s are so insanely good and fun these days. No regrets going back to the 250 class

I recently got back into riding and bought a KTM 350 XCF. I started back mainly racing harescrambles, but now want to get on the track more. I love my 350 in the woods, but I'll probably go for a 250 for my track bike. The Yamaha YZ250F looks strong too along with the Honda.

I just bought this bike. My previous bike was a 2007 Yamaha YZ450f that I bought new 15 years ago. The new 250 was butter smooth and easy to hold onto in comparison. The only thing that had me scratching my head was the gearing. What normally would be a 3rd gear jump on my old 450f is now 4th. It’s actually not a bad thing. As you will never use 1st gear, which eliminates accidentally shifting into neutral. If you carry your momentum well you can hold 3rd gear in turn.

I started riding again a couple of years ago after my youth 80ccm Enduro times. I am so hooked by this sport that I’ll make it my favorite hobby, beating golf, my favorite passtime up until know. I got myself a CRF 250 l dual type but mainly drive it through our Black Forest woods.- so I plan to get a true Enduro. Will do a Moto-Cross cross Training weekend next spring, the acadamy told me I will be training on this new CRF 250R model. Seing all that positive reviews, I can‘t wait for it to start. Although I am fascinated by the likes of Husqvarna and Beta, I feel this is what I need, having heard the pros for easy handling and power band. Could one of you briefly explain to me what ECU tunings are? Thanks to the guys who do this channel.

I totally agree my friend for his first bike got a 2014Kawasaki 450f it had all the mods so I got my self a 2002 Yz250f to go riding with him and at a local track we both had more fun and could ride my Yz250f faster on the track even for a older bike the 250f has just the right amount of power your average rider needs by the way I’m 56 years of age

As a Vet +50 racer , I had a 2019 YZ250F. Phenomenal bike , but , I was getting smoked on the starts against the 450s,350s. Most of my races are 5 laps so it's a sprint. Have a new Honda 450 and it's true what they say, a good start makes racing a lot better.

hi i agree with you and i also think that the 450 is too powerful. however, going fast with a 250 in my opinion is more difficult than with the 450. the 250 must always be driven on the limiter and you must always have an excellent curve mileage and always pull it to the maximum to finish the jumps while with the 450 you can have a guide pass me the term "relaxed" then obviously if you want to push the 450 hard the risk of pulling it in the head is very high. i am a Sunday amateur driver .. i tried to do some laps with my kawa 250 and then i got on a friend's husky 450 and the lap time was the same from the very first time i was driving the 450 but I repeat I am an amateur compared to you who give us this advice. I am really torn about my next purchase .. surely it will not be another kawa. thank you very much for all the advice .. many greetings from italy

I’m in a very similar situation to you Tyler. I’m 31, been riding for 20 years and on 450s for over 10 years. I can ride them and safely handle them but honestly I’m kinda over the 450. Even though I can ride it I still have to hang on for dear life with all the HP and def get tired a lot quicker. I think a 250f with a pipe and ECU will be more than enough to put a smile on my face and maybe get some more enjoyment out of riding. Honda killed it with this bike!

I see a lot of this videos saying buy a 250 over a 450, I wanna really stress that most of these recommendations are made at sea level, if you’re like myself and live at high elevation I’d recommend a 350 or 450. For being in Colorado and trying to ride a 250 at some of these tracks I legitimately cannot afford the maintenance. You will blow these engines up, you will smoke your clutches, owning a 450 allows me to be easier on the bike and makes up for the power loss that happens with a 250. I still wanna hit the bigger jumps on the track and being able to consistently do that on a stock 250 is near impossible but having the 450 allows that to work, so definitely consider where you will be riding before deciding on the 250. They are amazing bikes but power loss at elevation is a significant factor that I think gets overlooked

For me a 450 is way too fast. At 145 pounds and being a moderately fast vet rider I find a 250 fits me best, just with a little extra juice. I don’t race and purely ride for fun/love of the sport. Dropped in a cylinder works 270cc kit in my 2019 CRF250R and WOW! Along with a full PC exhaust system, vortex ignition and mapping to go along with it. Bike absolutely RIPS! Great bang for your buck and will be PLENTY of power for 90% of riders varying in weight, riding style, and ability. Makes great power while keeping reliability (in my experience thus far). Just my thoughts! On another note that new CRF 250R is amazing looking!

I wonder how much the cornering has improved on this one compared to the -08 crf 250 I have now, I hope a lot. The forks back at 2008 on Honda must have been the worst of all brands, and how to get enough weight on the frontwheel in corners only god knows, it's like sitting in an old rockingchair. The quality on the other hand must have been the best ever.

  • @cadencramer2747
    @cadencramer2747 2 роки тому

I think I would still buy a 450F for one reason: maintenance. I'm very comfortable on my 250 2T, which has slightly more power than the 250 4 strokes and a snappy powerband. It'd still take some adjustment to get on a 450 because they are definitely more powerful and heavier, but I could lug the 450 around more and get away with not rebuilding it as often as a 250F, which is huge for me. The caveat to all this being you have to have good form and great clutch and throttle control or you might get yourself in trouble.

It has the cornering characteristics of a 250, less fatiguing to ride,, less chance for ‘most’ of us to get into a catastrophic predicament. Great bike for intermediate and vet riders. I have friends that bought 450 moto bikes....then they get on my kx250xc and say “i should have bought a 250”. I try riding a 450 as a intermediate level rider and not enjoy it at all lol you dont need a big bike to go fast 😂

that’s one way to sell more 450’s lol, tell a moto guy/girl they aren’t skilled enough to ride on something powerful… that’s now the bike they have in their crosshairs. Great reverse psychology right there😁

I went from a 250 two stroke to a 250f and I couldn't be happier. While the two stroke is a ton of fun, the four stroke is just so much easier to ride and I'm faster too.

If you’re faster on the 4 stroke it’s because you don’t know how to ride the 2 stroke well enough, simple as.

99% of the people riding/owning 450’s should be nowhere near a 450. Almost everyone who has one has no business being on one. You just can’t tell some people though 🤷🏻‍♂️ they buy it for the clout of saying they own and ride a 450 and that’s it.

you dont need a 450 unless you're over 170 lbs (without gear) or very fast/experienced like Tyler..or you ride in the dunes/desert. a 250f is more than enough for 99% of the riding population

This video is a cope. sadly honda lost the motorcycle wars long ago… yamaha 2 strokes are the best, hands down. Don’t argue preference with me, the yama will smoke your shit.
