Finding a Sufficient Statistic for a Uniform Distribution on [0, theta]

Here's a slightly quirky example using the Factorization Theorem.
We have to use an indicator function to make it work.

I think there is a typo , the largest observation must be less than theta , not 0 , but otherwise great explanation

What if an Xi is less than 0?

It can't be by assumption. The lower bound is given, known to be zero. Since Xi means a data point, you can't get a negative one.
