  • Walkthrough of the RTTC I picked up in NC this weekend that I ordered last July.
    I did a lot of research to find the camper that would work best for me and the pups, at the right weight to tow with the Jeep, and at the right price since I didn't want to finance it. I really appreciate working with the folks at Rustic Trail, and look forward to getting out and using it as much as possible!
    Dry weight is about 1750 lbs

    Hey there! We ordered an adventure addition last year as well! Ours will also be towed with a black Jeep jk! Just curious when you ordered your kodiak and how the Jeep handles the trailer? Our Jeep is a manual on 35s regeared to 4.56s.

      Hi Rob! Yay, I LOVE the adventure edition!! I ordered in July and picked it up the first of March. It was originally scheduled for mid to the end of December, but with COVID there were some parts delays. In the end, it worked out better for me anyway with some things that came up. The Jeep handles it so well, no problems at all! You can definitely feel it's there at certain times, and I just take things super easy, especially since I have the dogs with me, but with the electric brakes and low weight, it's a piece of cake! Mine is lifted 2.5" on 35s, not regeared, hope that helps!

      @@421k9sar Exact same for us! We ordered in July and actually just picked ours up on 3/31. Our picture is on the Facebook page now(it’s the Jeep with the white rotopax on the spare tire). You are right the Jeep handles it well as if they were made for each other. Towed ours all the way back to PA. Good luck with everything!

      Hi Michael! No, that is definitely one of the unfortunate things, so I'm working on coming up with an outdoor alternative that will keep it safe from the Florida weather that is REALLY hard on stuff, outside of building a whole garage for it. lol

    Have you used a solar panel yet? I have the regular Kodiak Stealth and am wondering if I can plug the panel straight in or if I need a controller.

    • @421k9sar

      I just used my Renogy flexible solar panels last weekend too charge it up. You can plug it directly into the port on the side with an adapter. I'll find the link and post it.

      @@brettg9013 So, I am REALLY glad you asked the question because I assumed the NOCO charger was a charge controller as well. I really hope I didn't ruin the battery. I guess if I did, it won't be the end of the world since I had plans to upgrade to the SOK batteries as soon as they come back in stock, but nonetheless, I hate to ruin a perfectly good battery. I guess I'll be purchasing that charge controller now.

    I have been considering buying a rustic trail. I have followed them on Facebook for a good while. I have been in the owners group to read and listen, I have not posted. I have called, and asked the company questions.
    This morning I politely asked them on a Facebook post if they have considered making a composite version of the Kodiak off-road. They responded with a long post dismissing me as a potential customer simply since I asked a polite question. I asked more direct questions, and said I didn’t appreciate being dismissed as a customer simply bc I asked a polite question. They deleted all of the discussion, and blocked me on Facebook.
    This is clearly a company who does not deal with at least some customers in a way I want a company I buy from to respond to customers. Buyer beware! And have screen shots of the entire discussion if anyone wants to see them.

      I can only imagine, especially with the price of supplies and shipping going up. When I was shopping for mine, what they offered was still about $10K less than the closest competitor, new. Not sure what the comps are now. Good luck, it was well worth the wait!
      Oh, there are also used ones coming up for sale now and then on the FB page.

    Very nice walk thru. I've been there a few times and they seem to have a good following. Did you get an awning?

    • @421k9sar
      @421k9sar  3 роки тому

      Thanks! I did get the awning and LOVE it! I'm so glad I opted for it, it makes all the difference in the world. Not just on a practical side, to provide protection from sun and rain, but also on a comfort side. It creates a sense of "space" outside the camper, which is good for a teardrop since you have to find ways to extend the living area to the outside. I didn't know the newer awnings came with a light, and that just added to the "worth it" factor tremendously.

    Nice, I pick up my Kodiak in a few months. Your bed layout looks custom. Did you work with RTT to make this customization? Also, how’s the garage clearance?

    • @421k9sar
      @421k9sar  3 роки тому

      Yay! It's so hard to wait, but so worth it! Yep, RTTC is really good about working with you on customizations if you ask. The box up front was a suggestion they had when I said I wanted a box but was worried about jack knifing. No go on the garage, at least mine anyway. I think both the fan and roof rack, along with the full size wheels put it over.

    Hi! I have my eye on the Kodiak but have a big doggo. I'm waffling between the queen bed and single bed options. I was just wondering if you had any thoughts about which might be a better option. I'd like to think that if I put a dog bed in the same location as yours, he would sleep there but I'm not so sure ...

    • @421k9sar
      @421k9sar  2 роки тому

      Where does he sleep now? How big of a dog? Why don't you think he'd sleep there? I like the smaller bed because it's easier to manage changing the sheets and reaching the corners. I like having more floor space.

    • @kajohnson39
      @kajohnson39 2 роки тому

      @@421k9sar he's a Labrador. He sleeps in my queen sized bed so I'm concerned that he would try and squeeze into the people bed instead of staying in his dog bed even though it would be right there! I'd also like more floor space.
