Green's gotten pretty sweet over the past couple years. Used to just be little mana dorks and hoofing people, maybe some lands synergies. Pretty linear, boring stuff for the most part, outclassed by all the blue, black, and red awesomeness. Now it's got great card selection in things like rumbling and oot, crazy UG value engines in oko and uro and nadu, and a much sweeter high-end in atraxa, worldspine, etali, and torsten. Green is no longer the meme color it once was. But white is still pretty boring :P
@@Jingoa RG is also so good now. The red mid range beaters are just crazy value and you get tons of redundance if you're in that color to make the draft and draws smoother, and all of them appreciate mana dorks. Getting to play any of the busted 3 drops a turn sooner can be game winning, and Gut and Broadside in particular get to then generate huge value from the dorks. Plus, Minsc and Boo is a house. The addition of malevolent rumble for really nice card selection, and Six for a nice addition to lands stuff, along with Shifting Woodlands to help beef up the mana cheating decks.
Spoilers below! Match 3 game 2 you could have left them with the portal, they couldn’t use the ancient tomb cause they were at two, and even if the could, you had corpse dance to get back archon on your turn to finish them.
"Trust me, I'm not complaining. That would be absurd." If following your Magic coverage for 14 years has taught me anything, it's how the greats can find creative ways to complain about anything. You practically invented Complaint Equity Theory. Don't sell yourself short.
19:01 look, if you're gonna produce a Torrent of cube content and you see the massive number of viewers you've got, you *have* to realize you're raising the overall quality of players joining the leagues. Everyone's picking lands closer to correct. Everyone is constructing more than 5 color piles. The decks are getting better and the very good decks are happening to other players more often.
This is a good point. There used to be a huge knowledge AND skill gap between LSV and most cube players, so his cube videos were mostly him dominating (and "getting away with it" when he had some sketchier keeps and manabases). That gap has gotten smaller over time as more players have studied the format thanks to the help of all this cube content, lots of it provided by LSV, so the margins are slimmer and the punishes more frequent. That's the downside of being an educator in a competitive field: you educate your edge (noting that there's a pun there somewhere but am not going to capitalize on it, to everyone's relief) away to some extent. It's ultimately always better to raise everyone up rather than hoard an advantage for yourself and it makes for more interesting games, so I'm glad that LSV is a Magic educator.
Phew good that last opponent didn't have anything to DT for to get them out of game 1. Or else LSV would have felt bad about fatesealing away the portal when the opponent was at 2 and couldnt cast it with an ancient tomb in play 😅
4:41 - In the beginning of cubes, maybe before you did any cubeing (Although I still remeber your first draft you recorded with Theas cube) - when every cube had Keldon Champion, Kamalh, Pit FIghter and Jeska Warrior Adept for the red deck, then it absolutly happened that survival didnt wheel.
Wonder when this was recorded because LSV passing a fetch for Malevolent Rumble when he has no other fetches seems insane given how aggressive he's become in taking fetches

in the solitude pack was there not even a consideration for grief? it's black and goes well in reanimator I would have slammed it personally but I guess LSV just doesn't think it's that good?
This deck can turn 1 kill with the right combination of cards. Here's an example: untapped basic + mox + lotus for RRR. Play Sneak attack and sneak in Griselbrand. Draw into petal + worldspine = GGs, turn 1 kill.

😂
hahahaha I was not ready for that one
But not exclusively 😮

Lsv….that bow masters read….🙇♂️
That was wild
Truly impressive
Luis becoming a green mage was not on my 2024 bingo sheet, but it's certainly happened lol.

@@Jingoa I love white! Granted, it has like one archetype in the cube, but I like that archetype, shoot me. It also has some cool control cards too.

47:03 That is the best board state of all time.
Hearing Luis sing Backstreet Boys was unexpected :D
Also, Shifting Woodland went up big-time for me with that last game
There is something really funny about MtGO's "Look at the card(s)" prompt. Look at the cards! Look at them!!
16:50 cracking up at the JTMS +2 ability resolution on MTGO. Definitely had the same thought before :D
“I have 15 lands and those 3 things” (note to new players, “those 3 things” are black lotus, mox pearl, and lotus petal)

Finding the smallest of ways to get out of round one is exactly why LSV is the best.

That was a fun deck, it's nice to see you getting back to your Vintage Cube roots.
Haha i laughed at the part about Jace and the +2 ability with Magic Online. It's so horrible the way they have made that it's just funny.
No triplicate titan. I don't want it messing up my oath. Trip Titan Tears 😢
Some nice plays there. Draft very solid as always
Wtf why did you concede against a Pyrogoyf and 1 card in hand!? You wild for that one

My favourite UA-camr! Love you LSV!
Really sweet deck, thats 3-0 for flavor in my books

I love show and tell looking forward to this!
That finish!! 😂😂😂
Hell of a read on the bow master
56:31 They had 8 mana (not 9) because they were at 2 life 😅
Yavimaya.
8 includes yavimaya, otherwise it would be 7
@@Hoopr32 Yes, Yavimaya is why they have 8 mana not 7 but neither of those numbers casts Portal.

“the exception to the stip is power which includes things like library and jace”
Is Jace the Mind Sculptor the new Library of Alexandria?
I liked when he took the Jace he was like “I guess Jace is better than Paradise Druid.”
56:50 They didn't have enough mana to cast the portal. If they tap the ancient tomb they die
It never mattered but u can tap shifting woodland for mana the ability doesn’t cause it to tap!
Excellent
I just loved the first game
I would have walked right into that bowmasters ngl

You are a good man
On that turn you jace +2ed the portal they couldn't cast it because they would die to ancient tomb. Shoulda just left it there.
I'm surprised LSV could take channel after that weekend video. Full PTSD 😂
That deck was good, he just made a misplay. Or is that what you're talking about?
should have let him keep portal. they were at 2 and had tomb theyd have to tap to cast
No views 59 seconds ago earliest ever for me!!!
LSV feels like he's still got some lingering ptsd around pyrogoygf lol
in the solitude pack was there not even a consideration for grief? it's black and goes well in reanimator I would have slammed it personally but I guess LSV just doesn't think it's that good?
I don’t think grief is very good, no
