I've started eating veggies for breakfast, too, and it really helps! I have a food processor so I shred a bunch of cabbage and carrots (cheap!), saute them, and put just a bit of fish sauce on for salt and umami. Weird but delicious!
Love this. This video was eye opening for me. The 1lb of veggies - so specific & simple & more meaningful than the 50/50 plate method, since different veggies weigh different amounts per volume. Wasn't sure if I would be filled up enough with that method, but this i think I can do & I can see how it would be satisfying, getting all that bulk. What a great idea. And I love that you talk about increased veggie consumption as being the one common denominator of people who lost weight. And how veggies are the least calorie dense food of all. So much clarity & inspiration about this, thank you, Chelsea for this awesome tool! I'm excited to get started on this.
I love cooked shredded cabbage! It's so delicious with some coconut aminos, ginger and vinegar. Thank you for this wonderful video! This was so well thought out and explained very clearly. That visual plate drawing with the calories and the fact that we only eat about 3-5 lbs of food daily blew my mind. Wonderful advice as always! Thank you Chelsea! 🙏🙏🙏
Plus, what's in the Broccoli is WAY better for you than the processed "junk" in the Oreos. I don't think it's just calories we should be thinking about but what's "in" the food we're eating.
100%! The ultra-processed junk food is engineered to keep you addicted so you keep buying it. The more you eat, the more money they make. They deliberately made it tasty, but never satisfying so you keep eating and eating. I’ve lost SO much weight since finally breaking my 10,000 empty calorie per day addiction!
Yes!! I love this method! I used to struggle to keep my calories down to 1800-2000/day eating "healthy" (what I used to think was healthy lol) but still had a ton of cravings and felt hungry 24/7. Now that I focus on the daily dozen it's so much easier. I eat a lot of volume and I'm rarely hungry. And I calculated my calories for funsies for a few days and literally - it's 1800 max on days where I eat more refined flours/breads. On a regular basis I'm at about 1600 calories - but most imporantly: It's way easier!!!!
I love this idea and am heading to the store to buy some of my favorites, but as I do this, I was wondering your ideas on fruit? I'm trying to eat berries, watermelon and cantalope in lieu of sweets. Do you have a fruit goal for every day? Also, did you build up to say a pound of vegetables a day?
Another awesome video Chelsea and even though the naughty side of me would prefer the Oreo biscuits broccoli is healthy and better for me. My favourite non starchy vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower and greens. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Chelsea.
Great video. I am inspired to do the 1 pound of vegetables per day. I did 8 ounces tonight. I was thinking of dividing the pound into thirds. Lunch, dinner and then maybe doing a vegetable juice in the afternoon break. Would juicing destroy the benefit?
Hi Chelsea. I have IBS and tried so many times to be vegan/ vegetarian but I was unsuccessful. I can’t have as many vegetables and I get bloated and my stomach feels so uncomfortable! Is there any other way to help me to follow vegan diet? Thanks for your great videos
Dr. E the NP with a Phd Is a great UA-cam Dr that discusses IBS. Scroll through her videos to find the IBS ones. Then you can apply Chelsea's methods. I hope this helps.
I eat around 2 lbs of non starchy veggies and 1.5 lbs of fruit daily....along with protein sources, legumes, and starches....most days, I feel like this is too much food, but not sure.
Replace half your plate with non starchy veggies and you cut your calories almost in half. For example, if you filled your plate up full of pasta, and then cut that in half and replaced it with steamed broccoli, you are eating the same SIZE plate so same volume/amount of food, however the broccoli is half the calories so you feel just as full but with lower calories consumption
I 100% get this and agree. But I think you should also consider fats because they're much higher in calories per gram and a lot of people eat a lot more calories than they realise because of fat in food preparation and condiments. Like if you take 2 pounds of broccoli, deep fry it and cover it in melted cheese and butter, it's a lot more calories and not much more volume.
What is your favourite non starchy vegetable?
Broccoli 🥦
Red Cabbage!
Broccoli
Broccoli
Eggplant and Zucchini

Thanks for this tip!
Thanks, that sounds great!

What I really appreciate about your videos are how you simplify everything. Thanks so much for this.
Potentially hot take, but brussel sprouts are easily the best non starchy!

Just found your channel, are you still in New Zealand
❤
Zuchinni!
I love zucchini 😊
Don’t forget to eat a little of protein! Calorie deficit lowers your metabolism! But protein is super important!
All protein starts in plants ;)
Sometimes I miss the feeling of biting into bread/ cookie- AFTER my big veggies, just 2 bites …usually right before going to bed…you have a recipe?
I have 2 not one fav green veg. They are brocolli and green beans.
Carrots
How much fats % do you eat to keep hormones healthy? I lost the weight with this method but now lost my period so idk what I did wrong 😢
You can use a tablespoon of fat with each of your meals.
tomatos
Unfortunately, I don’t like any broccoli.
There’s plenty others to choose from 😉
My favorite non starchy vegetables are fiddleheads. Anyone else eat them?
Never had them! Sounds delish!
Can someone help? I just don’t understand the maths on this am I being really dense..? ❤ Chelsea Mae

She has so many videos mentioning that. That’s a given for sure, 100%!
Vegan cheese? Oh nooooo!
