This song is such a jam! Makes me feel good every time I hear it. I love how Mary Davis stretches the word "I" twice on the song and makes it sound so melodic. And I have to give props to the writers and producers, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

Those laid back jams like this from the 80’s were the soundtrack of our lives, chilling with friends, after school, after work, getting with your significant other or meeting someone new, just created a whole chill type of vibe back then. And the song itself just made you want to get out and do something during the week instead of waiting until the weekend, go have a drink, go to the movies, go to the park, hang out, go for a drive , whatever. Grown folks music. You hear how the brotha was talking to the woman? That has become a rarity. Alot of what I see from generation is disrespect for women. Have someone that wants you as much as you want them and show that person how much you appreciate them daily. I teach my son's to treat their women right and to always be a gentleman. If you need to fuss at them, then you don't need them. A song like this would be as successful today be cause it conveys the right message. Old school for life!!!
