The problem with narcissists is that they are sooo sure that everyone will believe their lies. This ends up being a good thing because it's so easy to pick apart a narcissists story since they honestly don't put much thought into it the legitamacy of it. They rely solely on their belief that everyone likes them, they have a great personality that everyone will fall in love with, they are so smart that they can outsmart everyone.

Genius Ezra relies on her lawyer to pronounce words like 'altruistic' and 'albeit'. This philosopher/artist clearly tarnishes the perception that she is intelligent/deep. Using Alex's journals to paint him as an obsessed violent sex addict who craved only her is disgusting. Also the way she says 'YES' is annoyingly attention seeking behavior along with her saying 'YES' before the completion of the question posed to her by the state. She really believes she is ahead of everyone when she is so pathetically behind. She is where she belongs--- living her boring days with others who also believe they are smarter and exceptional.

I absolutely detest the perversion of truth that defense attorneys (and often prosecutors, too) put forward in courts. However, it's important to remember that it is their legal, professional duty to present their client's case, or the state's case, as emphatically as they can. It's tough to listen to.
I don't know how they live with themselves, though, even though I understand WHY they do this. I couldn't do it.

Besides Monica Karlin (I refuse to call that evil thing Ezra McCandless -- it's not her given name and she should not be permitted to give herself some exotic name), the only person worse than that defense attorney is the female defense attorney, whose name is Deja Vishney.
Vishney remains at the height of rudeness and unprofessionalism in a courtroom. Her abrupt gagging and coughing during the sentencing hearing, while continuously interrupting the judge was a performance that trumped even her partner's opening statements..... And speaking of LYING..... Vishney LIED when she said that Monica didn't write that Go Fund Me page. Anyone with a brain in their skull knows Monica wrote that stupid GoFundMe request. I think that "fire" in Ezra's eyes was the desire to erase the mistakes that took her from Mengel; John Hansen was lucky to have been out of town. Mengel told that cop "everything was okay" because Mengel saw Ezra in the act of tricking Alex, pretending everything was okay, so she would be able to get him to drive where the "attack" can occur. The defense tried to come across as literary sounding because Ezra's defense was just that- fiction.

This is why it is difficult to have an impartial jury. In order to be an effective jury member, one must try to eliminate the emotional response, or biased judgment, and look only at the facts. It's natural to look at someone who is accused of murder in a suspicious way, so it's understandable. But that's why these kinds of cases can be so difficult because we know, yes, she killed him, but the question is why and under what circumstances.

    • @lassesuurmunne8340
      @lassesuurmunne8340 2 роки тому +5

I’m no expert at all. But I get the feeling that Ezra is an actual psychopath, or at least somewhere on that scale. When you watch any interview with a diagnosed psychopath they often come off as very harmless, but charming (not always) and something is off about them. If they are also narcissistic (I used to think they always are but recently learnt that that’s not always true) they are often a little bit larger than life characters. They don’t act like anyone around them do, they are like cartoon characters or something, sort of unnatural. That’s probably also because when they try to act “normal” they’re wearing a mask. Trying to imitate people with empathy, but it rarely is believable. A lot of them smile a lot and often at inappropriate things or things you wouldn’t normally smile about. Ezra is incredibly calm and comfortable and seems to enjoy the attention she’s getting. You’d think she was somewhere other than in court being accused of first degree murder. Even when psychopaths are caught by the law, a normal person would be incredibly stressed and would panic. Psychopaths remain calm as if nothing serious has happened. Even when Ezra was sentenced she was incredibly calm and acted as if it was no big deal to go to prison for 50 year minimum, where as a normal person often faints or would be incredibly sad to know that they just ruined their entire life. Sure Ezra was crying, but that too looked like an act, like it wasn’t genuine at all. She didn’t actually look sad when she cried which was bizarre. To me everything about her seems to say that she might be a psychopath. Jodie Arias was also narcissistic I think, but in her case I’m not sure exactly what was going on. She didn’t seem quite like a classic psychopath. But Ezra to me is almost textbook. Of course there are also psychopaths who are just very dull personalities, like there’s just nobody home and they don’t seem to be narcissistic psychopaths but still very manipulative and harmful. I remember at least one psychopath who was diagnosed in an interview who didn’t come off as also being narcissistic, that guy was just incredibly dull and like he wasn’t there, he had those dead eyes. Ezra might not be like a full blown psychopath but I feel like she’s on that spectrum. Most psychopaths aren’t even violent, but obviously Ezra is. Again I’m just a normal stupid person, not an expert. So this is just my feeling based on what I’ve seen and read. I could easily be wrong. But that’s why I personally believe there’s no emotion, no real emotion. 🙏 sorry for such a long message

I am glad we can resort to petty insults instead of productive discussion.
I find it comical that you think I was referring to the theatrics.
I am however not so happy that this devolved into such a slugfest with someone like yourself.
In short, be a better person, don't throw insults, try to have productive discussions and gfys.

I’m guessing she is sitting in a prison cell, yelling out loud: “OKAY YOU GUYS jokes over, you can let me out now. Ha ha”

I think he threw her under the bus. This defence lawyer wasted a whole opening statement that correlates fantastic with the prosecutors argument.

Unless the defense can prove that he cut her cloths in the past or that they had a violent sexual past from anyone else then I might consider what he is saying. Fact is she lied before

Herm's defense story sounds so dumb. I scratch my legs harder than that over a bug bite. Shim is a monster. You coulda stopped at 1. Such a pathetic excuse.
Its like my dads murderer saying it was self defense. "Then why didn't you stop after you were free to get away? " cause you are LYING. YOU WANTED TO DO IT. YOU PLANNED THIS.
I hope she gets 1st degree so0o badly.

I can only say after I had a stalker break in my house and assault me while I was pregnant and my 2 young boys were there, after it happened I ran to my sisters house next door, I have no memory. She said I hid in her closet, I don’t remember, I talked to the police, I don’t remember anything I said at all. I went to the hospital and I don’t remember to this day (30yrs ago) going there. I have only pieces of memory of that. I lost all sense of time also. After this one would think I would go through and lock all my doors and windows when in reality I opened all doors and windows (because I knew locked doors and windows would not keep someone out if they were determined to get in, as it was in this case) but for me I had to have multiple exits so if “he” came back to get me as he said he would. Nobody understood this, neither did I until many yrs of therapy later because I was trapped and couldn’t get away when I woke up to a stranger standing in the doorway of my room. I was a mess. I was diagnosed with complex PTSD which destroyed my life, my marriage later on and many jobs. I was a broken person who could never feel safe again. My behaviors were at times absurd to others. This consumed my whole life. I died that day. Because I thought I was going to die, my soul did. I know this is against popular opinion but I am not so sure she is guilty. Had I not lived through trauma myself, I would not believe it either.

Killing somebody for real can be traumatic for the fantasy driven killer as well. I would think especially for a chronic liar and someone who lived in fantasy lala land most of thier life. Real life is not the romantic killing fantasy she had in her head. Probably did give her a ptsd in a different way...

The difference between her story and yours, as far as we know, is that her story is fiction. The defendant in this case is a manipulative liar, so your comparison here isn't applicable.

Very sorry for what happened to you, but there is proof in this instance. Listen to her story. It’s ridiculous. She stabbed him through the brain, she cut his throat, and then said she was going to help him go to the bathroom? Come on now.

If she had PTSD and she's not a literal, clinical psychopath, then it was a result of having murdered someone. Ridiculous to pretend it could only be because she was attacked.
