Thank you for your comment and kind words. I do try my best to review interesting and exciting guns. It is great that you are enjoying the channel. Kind regards, Matthew
A very prestigious and striking looking shotgun. Yes, it would be a shame if Beretta discontinued the SO5. Luckily there are still a few affluent souls around willing to buy them and to keep the tradition alive. Thanks so much for sharing!
I have to say Matt sounds like you are fluent in Italian, very impressive, obviously your knowledge of the subject is second to none, excellent video again ,you still keep finding exquisite guns congratulations
Hi Matt, Marcus here again, i just found out through another Beretta dealer that the lenght of grip is not 85 mm as stated in my reaction of yesterday, but even worse , the lenght of grip is 80 mm , so that make’s holding these guns even more difficult .
Hi Matt! I have opportunity to buying a used one Beretta SO5 . With Beretta choke barels Böhler antinit Steel nr C15898B. Is this Steel shot approved? Regards Mattias
Thank you for your comment. I would imagine that the gun is circa 2010/11 so it is unlikely to be proofed for steel. It should however be fine with standard performance (not HP) cartridges with the correct chokes fitted. I hope this helps. Kind regards, Matthew
Thank you for your comment. I have always found the customer service from Beretta (GMK) here in the UK excellent. I am sorry that you have not had the same experience. Kind regards, Matthew
Hi Matt, a serious fault/complaint on all the SO models is that the length of grip due to the triggerguard which go’s down in to the grip is only 85 mm, ( correct me if i am wrong ) which means people with large or extra large hands can not hold these guns properly , for small italian men of around 1.75 mtr. with small or medium hands it is fine , but for men around 1.85 mtr. with large or x large hands it is not possible to hold these guns properly, it realy amaze’s me that they do not produce these guns with two grip sizes of 85 or the most commen 96 mm . I am anxious to hear from you or from other people what they think of this issue , bye for now , Marcus from the Netherlands
Thank you for your comment. I have handled dozens of S05's in my time and this is certainly not something that has been obvious to me. In many cases the sporters I have held feel very much like the grip of a DT10/11. I know that Beretta offer a custom fit option on this model and also that they only produce very small numbers of these guns nowadays. I am however not sure what the rationale behind the smaller/shorter grip is. Kind regards, Matthew
Another great video, I must search one out...would you consider showing a Boss London shotgun, as they are they British original manufacturer? Cheers Russ
Does anyone actually shoot one of these as their dedicated skeet, trap, or sporting gun? I acknowledge how well made they are and how cool true sidekicks are but once you start to get into the price range of an SO you have exceeded the cost of a K-80 or a Perazzi which are built for and will hold up to higher round counts. I guess what I’m asking is does anyone use an SO as a daily driver or is more of a weekend sports car?
Thank you for your comment. From my experience these guns are owned and used as 'high days and holidays guns'. Usually owned by shotgun enthusiasts who have a cabinet full and therefore alternate between them. Kind regards, Matthew
Always a superb review, short, sweet, to the point and no waffle...keep them going..best on the tube!

I owned an SO5 and the best thing about it was the trigger. Sublime. I can't believe you didn't talk about the leaf spring trigger!

A grail level gun. Just watched this video again , would I choose a SO5 or a SL2 ? An easier question please. SO5 a classic.
