"Get very angry at your scissors" as a step in the process, is such a mood! I've been there so often, whether it's sewing thread, embroidery floss or yarn. 🤣
I’m an advanced tablet weaver and I return to these easier patterns all of the time because they’re “audiobook” friendly and give such lovely “instant” gratification. Any time I do complex ones, especially skip-hole ones…. I can listen to music only but anything more would mess my focus up. Hope you are well!
That seems like a really good pattern for a beginner, since you just continuously turn all the cards in the same direction It gives you a chance to familiarize yourself with the other aspects of the process before getting to complicated card turning.
I have just warped a borrowed inkle loom with this design. So excited to start weaving. My mind is blown by how people created these designs in the first place! Thank you for sharing ❤
Precioso patrón, y parece fácil con la paciencia, amor y tranquilidad que transmites, muchas gracias por tanto arte que aportas y maestria para las principiantes, maravilloso! Gracias 😍🧶☺️
I'd just like to thank you for all your videos, I've been binge watching them lately and they've been such a great help in advancing my tablet weaving skills and learning new patterns :) the way you teach is concise and easy to follow, and your videos are all-round a joy to watch. I hope you're doing well and I look forward see where you take us in future uploads!
Always love your tutorials. I would get mad at the scissors too! I love watching the leaves grow as you progressed. Many thanks. Take care of yourself.
I can't believe I missed this was for the Sounders when I first watched this. Now I'm getting to rewatch to actually make a first tablet weave for realsies!
Thank you Elewys. I am on my third weaving band now and I have learnt so much from each time. All the best to you and yours from down under (the lovely apple isle of Tasmania!) You are awesome for sharing your skill with so many of us.
Love your videos and often hate my scissors but found some simple fixes on you tube vids to sharpen them. Never realized it could be so simple. Thanks so much for your easy to understand and follow instructions.
It's good to see you again. I'm sorry about your friend. I hope this next year is a better one for you. And thank you for the pattern! It is so pretty for something so simple.
This is great! I love watching your videos. This is exactly the kinda thing I have been wanting to make!! The idea of making a belt with a pattern like this is really encouraging me to start tablet weaving, and the timing of this video is like the perfect final catalyst for me to start
Thank you for this videos. I tried the laurel leaves pattern you did a bit ago it resulted in lots of learning experience and then enough band for a tote bag. I'm excited to try this one with some nice yarn I got recently. Thank you for all the work you do teaching this!
Blunt tools are very annoying and can be dangerous (when you throw them Ha ha). I think you’ve invented a wonderful idea with using the mesh table to hold tools! Doggie breaks are mandatory 🐶 Such a pretty design and looks so easy to do. Hopefully next year will be the Sounders year.
This is the first card weaving pattern I ever did. I didn't chose my colors very well so there wasn't a nice contrast, but I did think "Hey, maybe I can do this thing!" when it was done. 😂 I'm sorry 2022 has not been kind to you.
I was looking for something simple as a button band for a knitted cardigan....I laughed at the rogue green spool popping up like some Monty Python sketch...."And now for something *slightly* different".
Thank you for the reply. I recognized the basic Oseberg, but this interpretation making vines is really clever and gives a completely different look. I think I’ll give it a shot. Again, thanks for the reply
Started to binge watch your vids! I’m a noob about to start on my first weave, but it just dawned on me… does the shuttle thread need to match the borders of your pattern?
Thanks for highlighting the ending, as a UA-cam taught weaver, those few seconds were absolute gold! Am I right in thinking you are reversing direction to compensate for over twist?
@@elewysoffinchingefeld3066 Thanks for the prompt response, Elewys. Edit, and now I read the video description and see that you included the information I sought.
Thank you for this video! I purchased an inkle loom a few years ago and have not attempted anything on it yet, I’ll have to try this pattern! Is there a type of yarn (fingering, wool? Or cotton thread) you recommend?
I saw on the internet that you made patterns for all sCA kingdoms. I can’t find the tutorials. I am with the Outlands. How can I find your patterns. I am new to card weaving and enjoying and sharing this new hobby with my friends.
You found my UA-cam channel, so you're in the right place! If you look in the description of the videos, you will find a link to my blog where I have all the patterns. This is the one I chose for the Outlands, a 10th century pattern from Lithuania! ladyelewys.carpevinumpdx.com/2021/03/05/weave-along-with-elewys-ep-15-zaltys-10th-century-lithuanian/
I have a question about threading the cards. i Understand threading the right colour in the tight hole according to the pattern and I understand s threading vs. Z but are their examples where the threads cross each other as they thread through the card? As for example in card 7 where there are three white threads in a, c and d and a blue in b? Thanks for your help
The threads "crossing" before they go through the hole will not be impactful. If there is a knot, yes, or if two threads are twisted a couple times and the other two aren't, sure. But usually there isn't any difference in performance.
something I've been wondering, maybe you could answer for me, Good Lady: can you convert a pattern from pickup/handweaving to card/tablet weaving or does that drastically change how it comes out? I've seen that they can both be done on inkle looms, but I see Baltic-style weaving involves picking up pattern threads and I was wondering if you could just create selvages using cards instead of doing it by hand every time. It'd be a lot easier for me, that's for sure.
How do you know when there is too much twist? How do you fix it? Do you start turning the cards towards you or do you flip each card so all your Z become S and vice versa and keep going forwards?
"Too much twist" is up to the weaver's interpretation. If there are some threads that are soft and others that can be played like a guitar string, it's time to change direction. I usually flip the cards because the muscle memory is strong with this one...but whatever is most comfortable to you.
The link for your Amazon store says “not found”. Also, I know you have mentioned it before, but could you please repeat the manufacturer, type and size of your loom?
After weaving a foot or two, you will find the yarns getting over-twisted. To untwist, simply turn the cards in the opposite direction as you weave. The pattern will be *upside down* -- although I think of it as a design element. Continue weaving until the cards are over-twisted in the opposite direction, then resume turning the cards in the original direction.

Exactly!

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, but very happy to see yet another of your awesome videos.

I've made this pattern already once, but still excited to see the video! You always know more about it 😄
Love your videos and often hate my scissors but found some simple fixes on you tube vids to sharpen them. Never realized it could be so simple. Thanks so much for your easy to understand and follow instructions.
Sometimes simple patterns are the prettiest!
Well, I definitely know what my next project will be!! Thank you!
*edit: I'm sorry it's been such a rough year...
Thank you for the wonderful teaching for ending a length of weaving. And for the cute dog assistant!😊
It's good to see you again. I'm sorry about your friend. I hope this next year is a better one for you.
And thank you for the pattern! It is so pretty for something so simple.
Love your videos! Thank you so so much. Laughed at the scissors and how they stuck upright in the hole of the table!!

That finishing technique is brilliant! I love all of your video tutorials.
I have watched this video several times. Thank you.
Best part of weaving: “sproing!” And now we’re playing 52 card pickup 😂
Your channel is amazing. You are so talented!!!!
Thank you for sharing this video. Great detail and explanation for securing the end thread. Always seem to have problems with that.
Thank you for this videos. I tried the laurel leaves pattern you did a bit ago it resulted in lots of learning experience and then enough band for a tote bag. I'm excited to try this one with some nice yarn I got recently. Thank you for all the work you do teaching this!
After watching three videos I'm trying to convince myself that I don't need another hobby, but it's probably a losing battle...
Hey! This is the pattern I am using for my friend's mandolin strap! Cool!
Such a pretty pattern.
Beautiful pattern, next project
This was really excellent - I will try this pattern for sure. Thanks for the video!

Doggie breaks are mandatory 🐶
Such a pretty design and looks so easy to do. Hopefully next year will be the Sounders year.
We're still mid-season...there's still hope! The final regular season games are in early October.
QUE TRABAJOS HERMOSOS HACE !!! GRACIASSSSS !! DESDE ARGENTINA. BENDICIONES.
Ooooo! Fancy new lazy Kate. Swanky!
Such a beautiful pattern!

I'm currently working on Ossberg Roses. Which I believe is a 4 color version of this pattern. I'm using hand spun micro fine Merino and it's so soft.
Maravilhoso! Assisto pelo prazer de contemplar sua competência em fazer esse belo trabalho!
Love the finishing technique
How are your bands just so, so beautiful!? 😊🤩😍
Yay, a new video!! 🥰
Beautiful ! Thank you
Brilliant! Thank you ☺️
Beautiful.
Beautiful craftswomanship! How long did it take you to weave this 2+ yard/meter strap?
It was about 4 days.
I was looking for something simple as a button band for a knitted cardigan....I laughed at the rogue green spool popping up like some Monty Python sketch...."And now for something *slightly* different".
ooooh!! im so excited!
you cant run
That is beautiful. Do you know if it’s and original pattern design or based on a historic find? Your color choices were perfect
It's an original design from Catherine Weaver using some of the motif from the Oseberg 12L1 find.
Thank you for the reply. I recognized the basic Oseberg, but this interpretation making vines is really clever and gives a completely different look. I think I’ll give it a shot. Again, thanks for the reply
Wouw! The threads get shorter while weaving, don´t they?
Yes they do, by about 25%
Started to binge watch your vids!
I’m a noob about to start on my first weave, but it just dawned on me… does the shuttle thread need to match the borders of your pattern?
It doesn't need to but it blends in better if it does.
Thanks for highlighting the ending, as a UA-cam taught weaver, those few seconds were absolute gold! Am I right in thinking you are reversing direction to compensate for over twist?
Yes--I wove a foot or more before the threads were over-twisted, then reversed directions
@@elewysoffinchingefeld3066 Thanks for the prompt response, Elewys. Edit, and now I read the video description and see that you included the information I sought.
so pretty!
the link to the pattern is dead but i think i can easily recreate it from the video (easily for my first actualy project lol)
Thank you for this video! I purchased an inkle loom a few years ago and have not attempted anything on it yet, I’ll have to try this pattern! Is there a type of yarn (fingering, wool? Or cotton thread) you recommend?
To start learning, I recommend crochet cotton. It's cheap, readily available, and strong enough for the job.

I think just about any pattern can be created with doubleface tablet weaving.

I'll check the link. It's a Schacht inkle loom
Hi I'm new to this and I want to start weaving, can u please tell me what do I need to buy to start . Thank you
Sure! I will put together a blog post today, so check there for updates. :D
So, beginners question but: I've tried this pattern, but everything got tangled and over twisted. How did you deal with that here?

The pattern will be *upside down* -- although I think of it as a design element. Continue weaving until the cards are over-twisted in the opposite direction, then resume turning the cards in the original direction.
some of the links are not working
Thanks... I'll check that as soon as I can get the laptop to connect to wifi again....
😮❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
OK
PS - Sorry there's nowhere to add a private message, but I hope your hubby and children are doing well.
Thank you, yes. Everyone is well, or at least on the road to wellness.
