This is still in the ever expanding backlog of games I haven't gotten to you yet. It totally looks like my kind of thing though so it's just a matter of when. Do you think you'll be doing a ranking of the P3R bosses?
Yeah, eventually. I recorded them all and stuff so the footage exists. Probably will be uploaded during one of the “gap weeks” between our major uploads whenever I can find the time
1:07 That guy genuinely looks like someone who self inserts his personal fantasies into philosophical bullshit to make himself feel justified of his actions.
The song Grandma (Destruction) is a remixed version of a song from NieR: Gestalt/Replicant called Grandma, it makes a lot of sense there but I don't really understand its significance in Automata apart from just being a cool reference. Maybe there's some lore reason but I don't know it.
About that Hagel fight. I actually like it. Been a couple of years since I played the game. There is a pod ability that pulls you toward enemies. Including airborne ones. I used that to melee him while in the air. Makes the fight more enjoyable.
Great video, Alex! NieR: Automata is a phenomenal game and has one of my favorite stories in gaming, probably only behind Planescape: Torment, Disco Elysium, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Final Fantasy Tactics. I also love RPGs that cover events from multiple perspectives, and NieR: Automata is one of the best in that regard, too, alongside Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (another title with an incredible endgame), Ys Origin, and 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. My favorite boss is actually Ko-Shi & Ro-Shi. It's such an outstanding climactic fight that seamlessly switches back and forth between the two perspectives before merging the two battles at the end. Beauvoir is a close second for me, though. Also, I absolutely agree with Hegel being the worst. That battle was incredibly tedious and the low-point of the entire game for me. Anyway, I'm enjoying your content as always and look forward to your future uploads!
@@Cytonox Yeah, FF Tactics was only ever released for PS1 (where the dialogue was poorly translated) and the PSP (the definite version imo). It's also not to be confused with the Tactics Advance games, which are completely separate and have stories more geared towards kids.
@@Cytonox Also, if you're interested in trying out the Ys series, Ys Origin is a good place to start. It was my introduction to the franchise and is still one of the best in my opinion. I know it's at least available on the PlayStation Store, as well as Steam. That game probably has the overall best dungeon and boss rosters of the series, and the entire game takes place in one giant dungeon with different thematic tiers (water, fire, desert, etc.). It is a game that requires you to play through three different routes (each with a different character) in order to get the whole story, but it's definitely a great Action JRPG with an absolute banger OST. Highly recommended if you get the chance.
Imo So-Shi should be way higher up. Like waay higher up. Imo he's even better than Beauvoir(Simone) but ok I guess Grun, while a decent spectacle, is pretty terrible from a gameplay standpoint as it's just repeating the same thing over and over again Ko-Shi and Ro-Shi are cool but the fight drags on for way too long even in Easy. They're way too tanky, so I'd lower them quite a bit, but fair enough Eve should be #1. No contest there. Also the gameplay of the fight is awesome it's almost like a 3D AbsRad I love it
NieR Automata is a masterpiece that meshes either larger than life bosses, or pretty men/women(Adam & Eve, A2), and tragic stories surrounding the cast's insanity, suffering, bonds, and questions about a broken world being restored after it was further damaged by machines(androids in Route D & E). Remains one of my favorite games of all time next to DMC3, DMC5, Bayo 1, 2, & 3, the Xenoblade saga, Zelda Breath of the Wild, KH1 and KH2, FFVII/Remake/Rebirth, among others.
It wouldn’t be nearly as offensive if it wasn’t undoing all the things that the old rocksteady had built in the form of arkham batman being an absolute pushover.
It's disappointing that so many think Nier Automata is about hot android cheeks and dismiss it as some horny game. Very few games had me so invested in the story. MGS1&2, Spec Ops The Line, Metro series etc. Getting ending (spoiler) blind just left me in tears of relief/sadness. Only game I think I bought the soundtrack to as well.
I played about 70% of it then randomly stopped playing it for some reason. That was around 2/3 years ago maybe. I didnt hate it (other than that super long cathedral area, lol) but it didnt really speak to me either
NieR: Automata is one of those rare games that is excellent at everything it tries to do
Until you get to Hegel boss fight
THIS GUYS COMMENTARY IS FUCIKING PEAK.
Now that I think about it I don't think I've ever seen a boss rnaking for this game. Nicely done Alex

That's the extent of my knowledge also, and probably the correct answer. Before I knew anything about replicant it made absolutely no sense though
it’s about Kaine’s grandmother in Replicant it has no relevance in automata it’s just a good song
The only songs that were referencing Replicant’s story were Song of Ancients and Emil’s theme
For some reason Hegel uses Emil's theme I noticed which is kinda funny@@SpinnyTard
Thank you for rankig Hegel in the place he deserves.
Absolutely the worst boss fight in the entire game.

Well, to Arkham Asylum you go, I suppose.
Since you did nier automata, are you going to rank nier replicant bosses too?
Yep! Playing through it for the first time right now, really liking it so far
@@Cytonoxawesome, both are some of my favourites games, good to see you like them too

I ought to play some of those, I’d be interested in trying ff tactics especially. I hear it’s rather inaccessible these days, though

Are you gonna be ranking the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League bosses at some point?
no, to even spend money on that would make me weep. looks to be a contender for worst game ever made lmao
@@Cytonox Kinda expected that answer TBH. I’m certainly not spending and cash on that unholy abomination, thank the Lord. ✝️
