This is soooo not true! Up to this point, Serbians who appreciate art just had no one to vote for, and Konstrakta, with her song, changed that. There were 36 songs. The audience was split between the experimental pop Sara Jo and beautiful balkan ballad Zorja, and then the performance happened, and Sara Jo was giving us the usual Serbia is just naked women, and Zorja was... well she was boring, and all of Serbia silently agreed that Konstrakta's cynical, dark song about the state of health is just what should represent us. This won both the jury and the televote by a landslide. We're more than well produced pop songs, Western imitations and porn stars. I understand where you're coming from, but give it a few listens, the song gets under your skin. I'm incredibly proud we decided to send something original and personal. This is Serbia!

Well respecting the owner of this channel, using English. I don`t watch Eurovision for ages, didn`t know that competition suppose to happen. I saw Brakuses status calling to support her posted Triptih video. Tomorrow after that I saw Njuz, Kesić etc. same thing and heard that it was twitter and FB rebellion.
Cause of ass and boobs sells and cause no one promoted other songs, were focussed on promoting on all TV stations just few acts?? Plus Sara Jo was booked with JK to embarras Belgrade with red lights performance in front Parlament(which suits current politicians that are in it) after which suppose to ask how much is one night for one quick SM. That led to fact that brain won without any kind of agents and PR˙s, and things bought on flea market for couple bucks as scenography and choreography.
But people don`t use songs to send some meaningfull message so other people start using their brain, it˙s just shallow la la fun. Just as she said in song it`s all about consumirism, wasting money and time on non important thing, taking things as they are with zero doubt in anything and physical appearance. Healthy body but empty or sick mind.

    Allow for a small debate:
-You said it is not creative - disagree. Regardless if someone likes it or not, it is art, a social commentary in a song form.
-Performance is on point. It follows the many layers of meaning in a song.
-Good music - this one is honestly subjective. It is a very minimalist melody, but many other thing happen in the background. It is not mainstream, but that is a matter of personal preference.
-I am so proud of sending something that is not ethno ballad, or a forgettable summer hit by women that are more plastic then flesh. I don`t care if we are dead last, to us this is a victory.

The meaning of the song is very deep: There are several messages:
    1. In the time of COVID everybody is brainwashed that they have to do this, that,to stay physically healthy…. And what about mental health after all that?
    2. She wears a medical uniform and washes her hands: this is how she describes medical person when someone without a health card comes for treatment ( they wash their hands of that person, it doesn’t exist)
    3. People who do not have free health care , and they do not have money , can die freely without a guilty conscience
    4. The people around her in back look like rippers, just waiting for those who can’t afford treatment. Or they can be priests cuz praying is the only left when u can’t afford medical insurance or treatment.
    5. The general opinion that one must be beautiful, and in order to be beautiful one must be physically healthy. No one cares about mental health anymore, which is also important
    6. She is also like a fortune teller looking at her hands trying to figure out why she is sick and what symptoms does she have cuz she can’t afford health care insurance
    7. Artists in Serbia don’t have Heath care insurance and her friend died of cancer because of that
    8. Obsession with a healthy body while the mind is desperate sick sad and frightened.

I mean, I'm not Serbian, but I always liked this. It is such a unique sound. Nothing else sounds like this, and it is so attention grabbing. Even when we just had the studio cuts with a picture of the artist's face for a visual, "In Corpore Sano" stood out to me. I didn't understand the performance at first when I was watching it live, but it was hard to look away even though she isn't doing that much. Looking up the lyrics and all the levels of commentary made it make a lot more sense to me. I actually think it has a pretty good chance of qualification if commentators can get the message across to people who won't understand the lyrics, or if she puts translations on the screen behind her (judging from her reaction as her points were announced, she was not expecting to win at all. So I doubt she will have time to revamp for broader accessibility before the cutoff date).

They had this semi final on Thursday and the final in Saturday and just imagine: only in these 2 days she came from "jjust another song in the selection" to the winner, overtaking 2 HUGE favourites (both Serbian and international) in the final, winning over them in both jury and televoting. I can definitely understand why people might react to this song in such a way - it's not specifically made for the Eurovision and hence does not follow the patterns of the music we are used to. Instead the entire song is the multi-layered statement which goes far beyond the fact that she's ridiculing the ways in which the Serbian health system sees artists as "invisible." She starts off by asking herself about the secret of the Meghan Markle's healthy hair only to make us all realize how absurd the things we often read in the newspapers/magazines are. There is the youtuber "Maps of Pablo" who has actually done a pretty decent analysis of the song so if you ever want to really know what has drawn so many people to this performance, check that video.
I assume that Konstrakta has received more than 44,000 votes last night because of this uniqueness and originality. She is the ARTIST and people just felt like sending the actual artist instead of pop divas this time. So, the song does not follow the rules of a pop song, but that's fine because this is not your typical Eurovision song. This is art, and as such, many cannot understand it or don't want to understand it, which is totally fine. I personally think this song is powerful because it's as complex as an artwork :)

For anyone interested here’s an explanation of the song:
1)The name of the song corpore sano is in latin and it’s short from the latin saying "Mens sana in corpore sano" meaning "A healthy mind in a healthy body"
2)”What's the secret behind Meghan Markles healhy hair?” part refers to mainstream media constantly bombing us with different health tips that are usually there just to promote products and/or make us more insecure.
3)The part saying that an enlarged spleen isn't pretty refers to people making assumptions about someone's health just based on their looks and emphasizing physical health while a person can look really good but have many mental health issues no one knows about.
4)Artists in Serbia aren't recognized as workers by law so they don't get free health insurance meaning they have to pay to be treated in private clinics which a lot of them can't afford including Konstrakta's former band member which died of leukemia cause he couldn't afford treatment. The first and second chorus are different. The first one says "An artist MUST be healthy" referring to international artists that get free healthcare, while the second one says "An artist CAN be healthy" referring to artists in serbia and the healthcare system not caring about their well-being.
5)The part where she prays to god for health and says she puts her trust in her heart beating refers to her having to rely on god and her own body to regulate her health cause that's her only option being an artist in Serbia.
6)The part where she says the artist is invisible and it’s like magic refers to artists not being recognized by the government and the healthcare system.
7)The last part of the song is in latin and it refers to people prioritizing physical health and outside looks over mental health which is also very important.
Now let’s talk about the staging:
1)The obsessive hand-washing refers to COVID 19 and the importance of keeping your hands clean again massively talked about in the mainstream media while neglecting the impact of the pandemic on people's mental health. It also can be paying homage to one of Marina Abramovic’s (internationally known Serbian performance artist) performances called “Art must be pretty, an artist must be pretty” where she sits for hours combing her hair while repeating that cause she realized people focused a lot on her looks and her hair being messy and prioritized that over her art.

You can literally say anything about this song, except from - it's not creative - from the lyrics to the staging, this is a pure art and ultimate artistic creativity. You just need to show a little bit of willingness to understand and accept various art forms because music is not just high notes, great pop production or expensive costumes. It 's absolutely not a standard Eurovision song, because we didn't get a chance to see conceptual art project so far. I am in absolute shock but in the same time I'm so proud that Serbia is the first one. :)

Eurovision, like so many other things in life, needs to constantly evolve or otherwise die. Eurovision deserves to be taken seriously. It needs to become sophisticated and forward thinking. If this entry does well, it would make a lot of people reassess the festival as a one of the most important cutting edge art events in the world. Hopefully this could be done while maintaining or increasing popular appeal also. I hope this entry does very well. For context I'm Spanish and a bit embarrassed we are sending frivolous and unoriginal SloMo, written and choreographed by faceless men that use poor victim Chanel to do the public performance. So good on you Serbia!!! You showed us you have balls (and ovaries) and for that I salute you!

The most important thing now is that she won! Queen! She showed how to win in a 1 day all those favorites. After Semifinal 1 She knocked down the UA-cam trending, TikTok, Twitter all over the region! Before semifinal (Songs were released a month ago) she was not in the center of public hype such as Sara, Zorja, Angelina and Aca Lukas, but then after Semifinal 1 she made crazy all of us. Finally something different! It happened for the first time that something like this won in Serbia. Many in Serbia still do not understand this type of music, but her charisma overcame everything and of course the lyircs of the song that talks about the liver, the spleen (of course the song have more deep meaning about mental health) hyped many people to see what it is about, what a joke it is. It created chaos on social networks and in less than 24 hours created such a fan base to beat big favorites with big fan bases. She had twice more votes than Sara Jo that was the second.

Yes, it is my opinion, and I stand firmly behind it.
I will analize song and staging in brief.
The songs starts with "mens sana in corpore sano" in REVERSE. Latin is known as language of secrets and here the artist wants to say that:
there are hidden messages throughout the song, staging and lyrics.
She also says that people are paying much more attention to less important things such as physical looks instead paying attention to mental health.
She says: I don't have health insurance as artists in Serbia are considered self-employed and do not have health insurance as other people both employed and unemployed.
She washes her hand to show global obsession with covid and people around her are probably priests who are praying for her health and waiting for her death if she does not manage to stay alive. They SURROUNDED her, she has no way out.
And she just wants simple normal life, to walk her dog during summer day....

      "Mens infirma in corpore sano
      Animus tristis in corpore sano
      Mens desperata in corpore sano
      Mens conterrita in corpore sano."
And says: "so, what do we do now?" with peak of her outstanding facial expressions. She is great actress, too.
She LOOKS STRAIGHT IN CAMERA because she is conveying her message to US, AUDIENCE. Pay attention that she with her facial expression conveys message that she does not know what to do. Last second of performance.

    1. The song opens with a headline from a beauty magazine that Konstrakta once saw: What is the secret to Meghan Markle's healthy hair? - This is a reference to modern society's obsession with beauty; That's what beauty magazines do - they create insecurities about your hair, skin, nails, weight etc. and then advertise products that promise to change that. That's what the second line of the song is about "I think that the secret is in deep hydration"
2.Then Konstrakta goes on talking about how our skin and hair often signal some inner health issues - for example liver and spleen problems - The reason she is thinking this is beacause she's worrying about her own health, she can't visit a doctor for a check up or get treatment because she doesn't have insurance. THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT because artists in Serbia still don't have health insurance. This is a paradox because Serbia, just like so many other countries has "universal healthcare" which in reality is not available to everyone.
    3. She then goes on saying how and artist must be healthy - a reference to Marina Abramovic (Art is beautiful, Artist must be beautiful), and the reason she needs to be healthty is again - because she can't afford to get treatment.
    4. Then comes the part about the autonomic nervous system and how we don't need to control our own heartbeats. She describes a beautiful summer day, she is waking her dog, her heart is beating and that's it - it doesn't need to get any better. She just puts her trust in her heart and lungs hoping they won't fail her (if they do fail her then that's it, the doctors won't help her and she made peace with that)
    5. She then explicitly states I DON'T HAVE THE CARD (meaning health insurance card)
    6. She wonders how will they help her then? While she's wondering that we can hear the backing vocals repeat the phrase Boze zdravlja - God grant us health. This is a reference to serbian culture where health is regarded as the most important part of life. God grant us health is a common saying, we use it all the time, and you will always hear people wishing other people good health (for their birthday, or really any holiday) because everything else (money, fame, love...) becomes meaningless if you are ill and in pain. This is again a paradox - in a society that nominally regards health as sacred she still doesn't have health insurance. She says - The (female) artist is invisible, you can't see me, it's magic.
    7. The final part is probably the most important one. It's basically a play on the old latin saying Mens sana in corpore sano (A healthy mind in a healthy body), exept that Konstrakta makes it clear that only the body is healthy - the soul inside is desperate which is a commentary on our own reality, we are all obsessed with improving our health - we try to eat better, be more active, take all those expensive drugs and supplements - but what about our mind? More often than not it is our mind that needs care, not the body.
And finally after making that clear she asks us - So what do we do now?
Now about the handwashing: She is dressed in white, she symbolizes the health care system (she reminds us of a nurse for example) and she is washing her hands. Why? Because of covid? NO! It is a metaphor about how health care workers need to "wash their hands" meaning clear their conscience when they refuse to treat you because you don't have insurance. Just like when Pontius Pilate washed his hands before the crucifixon of Jesus - he tried to clear his conscience and make it clear that he wasn't the one who killed Jesus - it was the Law. In the same way, a doctor refuses to treat you because of the law, and he needs to make peace with the fact that you may die even though he/her could (and would) help you.
The handwashing could also be seen as a reference to Marina Abramovic's performance Balkan Baroque in which she spent days trying to wash the blood and flesh off of cow bones - she failed of course and that was the point - no matter how hard you try they will still be bloody bones (in this context the blood on the bones symbolized the shame of the Yugoslav wars, and in Konatrakta's performance the health care system is trying to wash away it's responsibility for people literally dying because of some bullshit paperwork and administration - but it is of course doomed to fail because the shame and blood cannot be washed away).

If someone doesn't like your country's song, deal with it, not everyone has the same taste. Most of them start insulting people immediately, especially with their famous sentences: "You don't know what true art is" or "You are not smart enough to understand the point of this song". Grow up and learn to respect others so you can be respected back.

I hope this comment helped make things a bit more clear!

this is a brillant song... very clever and deep, however it needs some translation.... basically taks about health, lack of insurence and finally kills it with mental health... (it was written in a very artistry way ... after one of his friens die for lack of insurence.... is not covid related btw) the more you lisen to it, the more you like it and gets in your mind. is a grower..

And I am very proud to present a song like this at Eurovision. I am sure that Serbia is winning. Thank you for your honest opinion. A lot of people are not honest. And thank you for this even negative opinion and reaction. Because the goal is for opinions to be polarized, extremely positive, or extremely negative. The rest is not important, and the tastes are different, and we should take into account the second opinion, regardless of the fact that we do not agree.

After the first listening I thought the same! But the message of the song is very important and makes it all different. This song is a piece of art which I totally don't understand. Not my cup of tea.

The purpouse of art is to make reactions in people. Doesnt metter if you get it or not. The classical music or some performance art is something I dont always get but I admire the fact that people make such things which some people can relate to and understand complitely and some just cant. Art is supposed to be seen in 1000 ways and not seeing it is actually one if them as long as it catches your attention👍🏻

The song tells of how we all pay too much attention to physical appearance, even eventually talking about how healthy the body is, the corona has passed, but what about the mind? Mental hygiene!

Oh for god's sake... people really need to stop being toxic to these guys. Some people don't care about the deep meaning of a song especially if they don't understand language. They don't like it and neither do I. Get over yourselves.
    Another good review guys :)

🤦🏻‍♀️ just give these two a generic bop and tell them it’s a Eurovision song and they’ll be happy. Can’t see past that, obviously.

I guess yall are used to bwsic pop/balads. That is not the point if eurovision. Artist needs to push boundaries not be basic like other songs and other eurovision songs dont sound original at all.
    This is ART PIECE 🇷🇸❗
