This is a video about the new, big fashion trends that you can find in Tokyo in 2019. Time for some 2019 Spring Fashion (and Summer Fashion) trend-spotting!
I'm a massive fashion geek. And as fashion is such a big part of the culture in Tokyo, I've BARELY scratched the surface in this video. These are just the trends as I've observed them in Tokyo over the past 2 months - but there's many, many more subcultures that I couldn't even hope to cover!
I hope some of you are also fashion nerds like me and find this interesting :D

    Hi Friends,
Because of low engagement the youtube algorithm is kicking my butt lately :\
I've already been having trouble with notifications not being sent out; I'm genuinely scared that soon nobody will actually KNOW when a new video goes live.
And, I worked really dang hard on this.
So if you liked this video please leave a comment, and give it a thumbs up 👍 I don't usually plug that at the end of my videos, but it really actually does help the youtube algorithm into thinking "Hmm, well people liked this video, I should show it to more people".
    Thanks ya'll ☺️
    Much love ❤️

Its funny, after living in Paris for two years I have never seen anyone wear a beret here (I think its a old sterotype and not seen as fashionable by young people in France), but I saw loads in Tokyo, so I see it more as a Japanese fashion accessory now. The naturalistic/botanical look is very in style in Paris now from what I have seen, lots of prints with micro flowers and flowey shapes. The early 2000s athlesiure is also in - but its not for me.

I'm French and lived in Paris 16 years. Berets are almost always wore by tourists. The only French people wearing berets are actually old farmer in the countryside as it's part of the uniform. Beret are a symbol of simple rural life, maybe that's why you find it quite often in fashion magazine, to tone down the fancy aspect of the outfit. That's also why French city dweller don't wear berets, a bit too much grandfather in the countryside undertone.
It was maybe used before by women as a sign of emancipation as it's a headwear for men but not really at the moment

I like your new intro, less flashy (and less seizure inducing). I noticed very similar fashion in my town in nowhere, Poland, so I have my doubts about Japan being that forward xD We still have lots of 90s inspired clothes but florals and natural fabrics are all over the stores right now. Minus the berets, these are reserved for old ladies :P

I think it’s super cool to see where trends in Japan have evolved. I’d say Japan has been going really strong on the natural trend (green washing because a lot of it is still fast fashion/made to look sustainable) since 2013, although it now includes natural buttons, different cuts etc. I also think the Parisian look has been pretty strong as a trend since 2018 (reminds me of this store Comme Câ ism). The Instagram teen one is definitely new (I haven’t been back to Japan since 2018), but makes sense!

Love the new intro! And this is SUCH an interesting video as well, much like you I don't consider myself a trend-follower and try to shop sustanably (this year I added 2 pieces to my wardrobe). That said, my jaw DROPPED when you showed these trends... I totally dress like that. 1940s silhouettes, a mix of super-feminine tailored stuff and oversized masculine stuff, I got that "worker hat" (it's called a baker boy hat 'round my parts) and all my shoes are brogues! And all the button-downs! Plus I only buy natural fibre clothes! Just goes to show how you might think you're following your own nose but actually, nobody's taste exists in a vacuum. Amazing work on the trend-spotting.
