I’m in my 40s, I’m an elementary school teacher, and I love living alone! I actually have 2 fur babies and they are great company, but I definitely prefer the quiet time to myself. I am very neat & particular, and like things a certain way. I like not having to share my things, having a more flexible schedule, and just doing my own thing. Spending time with friends, family, co-workers, and students is great; but once I come home, I really enjoy time for myself without any disruptions. I highly recommend living alone! 😊

Had several anxiety attacks during my first month of living alone but happy to report that at the 6 month mark I’m doing pretty well. Will not be renewing my lease or continuing to furnish the place due to noise issues from the surrounding areas which kinda sucks but I’m ok with waiting to go all out when I move this fall! Pray for me y’all. xo!

Being in my 20’s, living alone has been the BEST decision I have made. I am very proud I was able to achieve this milestone while living in NYC because rent is ridiculously high here. I can relate with EVERY. SINGLE. POINT you discussed. You had me at the first pro, which was the reason I decided to live alone, to begin with.
I worked as a nanny for 8 years in Manhattan and was around kids, their parents, their friends, their household, their staff, and everything that entails for hours on end. I wanted the ability not to socialize after I got home and just do me. A lot of people don’t realize how consuming a full time nanny job can be in the city. I am also very clean, neat and organized, so I love the ability to keep my space looking spotless if I can help it. Ironically, I can also be lazy, so if I don’t feel like worrying about my apartment for a few days or week(s), I just don’t.
So far what I’ve enjoyed the most has been my privacy and the ability to bring guests over, without having to coordinate with a housemate about it.

I'm single have always lived alone aside from when I lived with my parents until I was 23 and I'm 42 now. I think because I've always been alone so long, I kinda prefer it honestly and when I go on trips or vacations with friends, I always want my own room because I most comfortable that way I'm a loner anyway. I also don't have to worry about someone else's habits and lifestyle that might conflict with mine and that can really be a big adjustment. I had someone stay with me for six months to help her out she paid half the rent and utilities but she was always there which was hard especially if I wanted to bring a date home or watch TV in my living room she was watching TV so a adjustment for me but I was able to save alot of money with her there and I felt more secure with someone there especially at night.

I love living alone mainly for your first pro… when I come home from work I need to unwind/decompress and literally just not speak. There’s something about just coming home to your own space with your home heated or cooled to your liking. There’s something people don’t mention when your used to cooking for a certain number of people it’s almost hard to reduce it. I cook way too much food (that I never finish). *Also you can buy a zipper helper on Amazon

I love living alone and I like it tidy. I never get lonely but I’m older so there’s that. I do have a cat I love and he keeps me company. So would recommend having a kitty. No need to walk him or listen to barking, just meowing. The down side is I have no one to go on vacation with. But I’m going to venture out and maybe go to Mexico.

Hi Kirsten! 👋🏼 What a thoughtful, endearing, candid review of pros and cons! This was a truly enjoyable video and I applaud your transparency. I believe many of us share your views. Having lived alone, with roommates and with a spouse, I can say that I gained very beneficial life skills living alone. In fact, though you have sole responsibility for everything, learning your capabilities can become useful in later life. When I married, only God knew my spouse would one day become disabled. But because I learned independence, money management, ingenuity and resilience living alone, I was able to draw on that experience when suddenly facing crises in my married life. You are WINNING, sweet Kirsten❣️ Here's a tip for things that go bump in the night or hallway: invest in really good earplugs on Amazon. I used to use the drugstore foam plugs for years, but the rubbery earplugs are the best! They reduce that concerning ambient noise, while allowing you to hear something that matters. They're washable, come in a case and will change your life! I just love your vlogs, Kirsten. Keep being wonderful YOU❣️

Hi Kirsten!🕊 Enjoyed your video! Your transparency is appreciated!😉 I think it’s a good thing that you are learning yourself and what you like and don’t like about living alone. You mature in a lot of ways and learn responsibilities needed for ALL things.
I personally loved it! I now live with my child and we are so happy! He is the sweetest! I teach him lots of things as he is growing. He too is learning a lot being independent and self sufficient. He enjoys his alone time as well.👍

Kirsten, I think there is a tool you can buy to zip up your dresses (not a hanger, literally a tool that is sold for that purpose). I don’t think I like living alone. the only time I lived alone (sort of) was when my daughter was young. I got married when whe was 11 and haven’t been alone since but my home is big enough that my husband and I can have our separate spaces when we want.

buKirsten, some of us married people still have those options. My diet is a little different than my husband’s but I still cook things that he likes. But the great thing is, he cooks too. So, if I can’t eat it or am not feeling it, he can cook things for himself. But a lot of things come over time and being with someone for a few years.

But when you live alone... there is no compromise. I love having my own space and it's always my choice to invite people over or not. My home never smells weird and if it does, that's my own fault. I have a cat though, so idk if I technically live alone, but she can't call 911 if I do get hurt. I find way more pros than cons. I sometimes dream of living in nyc 😁 Buuuuuut not with a roommate. You make an interesting point. I am in my 20’s and decided to live alone mostly because I wanted my alone time when I got home from work - my previous job was consuming and I felt I needed a break from socializing every night. However, my decision to take on paying rent was 100% based on my personality, preferences and wish for privacy. I am inherently somewhat of a loner who was forced to be this social butterfly due to her job.
Most importantly, the privacy aspect was huge for me as I lived with my family and had to conform to their household. Living alone gives one so much flexibility, specially while being so young, in my 20’s.
