    After this race he came down and got in a black limo. I was riding my bicycle down by the Winston Tower. I was 14 years old with my STP hat on and he had them stop that car and no one in site but Richard Petty and this young boy. He rolled down the window and shook my little hand. Nobody ever saw this but he and I.
    Thank you Richard Petty, you still are my favorite driver. I have NEVER FORGOTTEN OUR MEETING.

      Here's something you need to know. Petty is the only reason I watched racing. This was his last win .petty was a big Republican. Guess who owned his car in his last two wins? The Lt governor of California . Your guy Reagan was governor of California. You think I'm stupid ? Your guy Reagan showed up in this race.But petty's 199 Dover Delaware win was under suspicion of a illegal motor again.Guess who started the engines on petty's 199 race.Reagans daughter. It's just too much to be a coincidence. And petty never won another race after this one

    • @dartmaster501
      @dartmaster501 3 роки тому +1

      They don't race to the yellow anymore so the safety vehicles can get on the track sooner. Imagine some of the wrecks we've seen the last few years happening back then and the safety workers having to wait for the pack to make another complete lap at Daytona or Talladega to get to the wreck. Too bad that a driver's wellbeing trumps your need to watch another lap of racing.
      Pit road speeds came about after a member of Bill Elliott's crew was killed. Again, safety overrides your need to see them going 150mph on pit road with almost 100 other people out there that aren't protected by a 3,000+ pound steel vehicle while cocooned in a carbon fiber seat.
