It’s my favorite system. Many things on the 3DS are still not found on the Switch. Like the Mic, two cameras, the stylus, the dual screens. All those features made gaming unique in the 3DS. I wish the Switch had all of those considering it was an upgrade.
I just ordered the “new” 3DS, can’t wait to play with it! I was hesitant because i have a switch lite but I think it’ll be worth it :). I used to have a DSI but it died ages ago.

@@izzetert1794 You could try back market. This website is amazing, they might have a refurbished "new" nintendo 3ds that is actually better than a brand new nintendo 3ds xl like they upgrade small stuff in the 3ds like more battery power and when I got mine it literally looked brand new and it was cheap too, I absolutely love it! So alternately you could also buy from Mercari, they are similar to Ebay but a lot better.
I have been on a 3DS fever these past few weeks and I have playing a bunch of new games I was never able to buy before and I absolutely agree with all of this.. it's my 2nd favorite console. Just looking at it makes me wanna play it, it's kind of magical and nostalgic somehow, as the Super Nintendo was for me. I cannot glance at it without feeling the urge to turin it on and play. And since it has SO MANY good RPGs, there is tons and tons and tons of hours to be had. It really is one of the best library of games ever, there's so much variety and well crafted games. The New 3DS XL version is a god-send, I actually enjoy playing almost all of my games in 3D at all times, and that new eye-tracking is revolutionary. I completely agree with you, the 3D is not gimmicky at all, it really elevates the experience. I was lucky to find the Hyrule Edition to buy, which has a 100% chance of coming with the top quality IPS screens on BOTH top and bottom screens. I researched this a lot before buying the New 3DS XL, and there really is a BIG difference. The colors pop, the screen is bright and has perfect viewing angles, I love it. If you haven't played Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon yet, that's considered a federal crime.
There were SOOO many 3ds game that I had on my Amazon wish list years ago that were $20-30 that I never got. I got back and check them now and many of them are $60-70+ used. Thankfully most 3ds games can also be picked up on the Eshop.
@@SamsMangaReviews They shouldn't get too much worse, based on the DS prices. They shoot up then stay stable once they get to around $60ish for most games. Only a few should hit the $100+ range
Streetpass alone was one of my favorite features of all time. Over the course of the system's lifetime I carried it with me everywhere and gathered almost 12K Streetpass tags with 3000+ Miis. I even got 100% Mii representation from my home country of Canada. The only bummer for 3DS was that it was region locked, so I 'had to' buy a separate system to play all those exclusive Japanese games. ;)
I do miss Street Pass. I regret that I didn't discover, look into, or bother with that feature until years down the line in my 3DS ownership. I also live in a small, shitty town. So, I could never come close to the kind of numbers you got, even if I tried. But after I caught on to the feature, whenever I traveled out of state, I'd take my 3DS. Picked up tons Miis at airports and cities and whatnot.
At 21 years old I got a new 3ds xl and played Orcarina of time for the first time. I fell in love with the game and it’s one of my favourites. No nostalgia
"Nintendo really has this ability to take a person in whatever stage in life they are, and bring them back to the true meaning of being a kid and having fun... On the outside Mario, Pokemon, etc. all look like children's games, but when you put them on your hands you do feel like a kid again, and that's the true meaning of gaming." Dear Sam, I ran into your channel by accident, but I'm very glad I did. This is one of the most thoughtful things I've heard about videogames on UA-cam in a while. Cheers!
I absolutely love the switch but... something is missing compared to the 3ds, I think it was the loss of iwata but no matter how good of a console the switch is the nintendo magic I grew up with has diminished
Wii U was a great system. It just didn't sell well. Believe me. Had one of the best first pary libraries. This is why you see so many of their games being ported to the Switch.
Recently purchased a 128 GB SDXC card for my New 3DS XL, and it's arriving tomorrow! At long last, it's time to download all the games I never got to play!
Low key wanna get the ‘new’ 2ds for fire emblem and ocarina of time lol. I remember having such a good time with the 3ds, playing kingdom hearts, Mario 3D land, pokemon X/Omega Ruby and more. The 3ds definitely is one of my favorites! Also that chainsaw man volume 👀
Bro you totally should, FE awakening and Ocarina of Time 3D are some of my favorite games of the past decade, and the 2ds XLs are amazing (I personally love the hylian shield one)! And I'm glad you noticed;)
Good, informative video. Just ordered mine today even though we have a PS4 and switch at home. Games look intriguing and fun enough in the 3ds. Nice shirt btw! Go Mavs and Luka!
Hey brother thanks for the video i just ordered a 'new' 3DS XL from ebay loaded up with a bunch of games for my step daughters 8th birthday in a few weeks and i was hesitant for awhile worried that she wouldn't be excited for an old system but you've made some solid points that my purchase was a great investment and she should be able to get a lot out of it, definitely more than anything she can find on her tablet. I might steal it back sometimes to play it myself!
Nice video. I’m like the system of choice and some of them games really hit home. Mega props for Ever Oasis such a great game that deserves more recognition.
Awesome video. I just busted my 3ds out to beat Bravely Default and Bravely Second before Bravely 2 comes out. Its such a great console. It gives you the entire DS and 3DS libraries which is just amazing. So many epic rpgs.
I've just bought a 3ds xl and I am just loving it....to be sincere I have playing it more than my Switch...My only problem is the pain since my hands are large for the console...I wish we could attach a controller like those made by hori (split pad).
Love the video Sam, really well put together and thought through! I’ve had a 3DS since it’s launch in 2011 and it’s one of my favourite systems to this date, fantastic games too.
Great video :) You're so right about the crazy prices, I only got a N3DS XL a few days ago and some people sell used games as if they were brand-new new generation games!
My love for the 3ds made me end up getting a New Nintendo 3DS Xl devkit. I love the system and really want to learn how to make games for it, even if the system is no longer in production.
Great video! I never has a DS system and I always envied those who had it in when I was a kid. Now I got one. Mint condition that’s not modded and I’m really loving the experience. I wish I had a DS during Street Pass peak. What a cool feature it is.
Another reason to buy a 3DS is for CFW. Especially the newer models. You can do so much more with a 3DS once you install CFW. For example, there is a fully working port of Super Mario 64 and there's a Halo game for 3DS (though, it's not the best...). You can also use the 3DS as a controller for PC and you can install GBA games right to the home menu. You can make your own custom themes and add custom splashes. I modded mine two years ago and I am so glad that I did. The 3DS will always be my favorite console ever.
I also LOVE the 3ds. Like, you can play it's games AND DS GAMES?! It's amazing! I first got my own blue 2ds with Mario kart 7 downloaded in 2016 when i was 7. It was so cool for me and my experiencewith it for years was great! (I still have it but the problem with it is that it won't charge easilyand overall doesn't work that well.) I can't even count how many thousands and thousands of hour's i have put into this. i had it for a while and i got a New Nintendo 2ds XL Just about 10 month's ago and i really like it! The experience i had with it [And am still having] Is just outstanding! Nintendo Did an amazing job on this handheld. It make's me really sad that they recently discontinued it. But i feel like every good thing has an end. Anyways, This handheld was just amazing and had such a great library of game's and so much more! I could go on for hour's about this system! This system played a HUGE part in my early childhood and im still in my childhood enjoying it! :D So, i'm very happy with this handheld, and i HIGHLY recommend it. Thank you 3ds for all your good time's. R.I.P. 3ds 2010-2020 ¦)
I got my 3DS 8 years ago and it's still my main console. So many great games. But it sucks because there are still a lot of games I want to get and you said the prices are going to go up, so I'm going to have trouble getting them.
No offense but you can get an used system and hack it, that's what I did with my last 2DS XL, it took me less than 20 minutes and right now I have the entire library in a 128 micro SD card.
I have bought many games from online stores that sell used games. The only thing is that they aren't brand new, but they are spruced up and look new. And they're much cheaper.
Unfortunately I never had the experience of using the Street Pass. In my opinion, I don't think seeing people with a 3DS (at least where I lived) was that common, esp just being out and about. It was a hit or miss, depending on if you actually knew someone else with a 3DS or not. It was something cool they implemented and like he said in the video, it may never be a thing that will come back. I don't think enough people would use it anyway, so maybe that's why they dropped it.
I grew up on the Game Boy Color. Most of my experience with Mario 1 was the Deluxe cartage. I have a GBA, Super Game Boy (which is basically the switch of the 90s sort of), DS Lite for GBA titles in the dark and The New 3DS XL. I bought one last year right before the shutdowns. It continues it be worth it. Right now I’m mostly focused on classic titles particularly ones with 3D and some of those look the best they ever have. The Game Boy Advanced with the controller feel is usually played by a body of water on hot days if I’m surrounded by people talking or my mind doesn’t want to read.
I love my 3ds and ds more than the Switch. They really missed a lot with the Switch. Where is the themes, the catalouges, the ability to orginize stuff.. STREETPASS.. where is it? They threw away Mii's which for me was a huge miss. I think people would travel more with their switch if they still had that feature. I remember having a lot of green flashes on my 3ds when getting home from work or just the town.. OR just from other neighbours in my resident. It was good times. I will love my 3ds to death. Sorry Nintendo.. but I choose the 3ds way over the Switch :) great video, keep it up :)
My GF at the time Bought me a 3DS first day at launch. Loved that thing...it went everywhere with me since I was on the bus..I was always playing..Sinnoh...Johto...and the ever immortal Unova..and how can we forget animal crossing..I never branched out to some of the other titles..but maybe I will now..since I have quite a few DS laying around
I'd say go for it, if you're considering picking up a member of the 3DS family. It's already happening, but now that the system is discontinued, the games and such are only gonna go up in price. Now's the time to pick up the games you've been interested in. I was lucky enough to pick up my system right before it was discontinued. Note I got the Hylian Shield Edition, not the $100 Mario Kart 7 Bundle. To be honest, I'm playing it more than my Switch at this point. Mostly because it's more portable for me. I got girl pockets, so I need something that can fit in there. Not to mention the Virtual Console! Nintendo has made it clear that they're not bringing it over to the Switch, so the 3DS is my only access to these games.
Nintendo 3ds is my favorite Nintendo console besides a Nintendo switch and there’s some Nintendo 3ds that I don’t have but I do want to play even though the 3ds is dead
Hey man. I found the exact same nintendo 3ds samus edition for insane cheap price in one shop. It was cheaper because its an older* device. I love it! My 3rd ds...(1 3ds xl, 1 ds lite and this samus edition one) 3ds xl is still my favourite device :)
Absolutely! Thank you for watching. That's a great question, I would say it is, just because there are alot of great and unique games that can only be played on the 3DS (Link between worlds, FE awakening, Pokemon X&Y) but it really comes down to, if those games look fun and interesting to you!
Hell yeah, it is! The 3DS outperforms the switch in a lot of ways. It's worth every penny in my opinion. Also, games are cheap so you can get 3 first-party 3DS games for the price of one switch game. O recommend getting one of the new models if you get one though because it can play more games and load them faster.
You can have both of them, even when a lot of people says that the Switch Lite is a portable system the problem is that it won't fit at your pockets as well that it got the drift problem which the 3DS doesn't have.
@@GSpider first time I ever read that, no offense but how the hell did you used that poor thing ? I got five consoles and two of them are being used by my kids and they don't even had 10 years and we haven't experiencied any issue.
Man I wish we were able to get Gameboy advance games besides the ones from the ambassador program. After Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal were released on the 3ds I hyped myself up thinking about Ruby, Saphire, etc. other than that though the 3ds is an awesome console to have
I don’t think the 3D is gimmicky because there were times in some games where you do need it. like link between worlds to help me distinguish what I’m looking at on some 3D puzzle effects.
In 2019 I battled with myself.. N3DS that has tone of game I will like (JRPG) or Switch that is new and will get better games for sure... Now I have both, droped Switch, playing N3DS all the time now.

Great collection! I have new2dsxl lavander, 3dsxl, new3dsxl and now waiting for new2dsxl animal crossing edition which I ordered on eBay. So i understand your passion for DS :)
If you're interested in any of the later games in the system's life, get them now because they're the games that are going to get crazy expensive in the future
I have a 3DS and it feels like a wii in my pocket which both are charming with them being my favorite consoles! The switch feels soulless but it's still a great console.... I would like a a DS like consoles that can be compatible with ds 3ds and switch games with a charming menu :)

I bought the “New” 3DS Black Friday black edition because I wanted to play Pokémon/Mario again plus I be out a lot so I want something portable now I won’t have just a ps5
Personally I think the tiles for the DSi are better than the titles on the 3DS. You've just got more variety, like Metroid Prime, Age of Empires, Theme Park, Capcom vs SNK Card Fighters, etc. But you can play them on the 3DS.
I just picked up a "new" 2ds xl second hand in perfect condition. Yes, I'm in love with it. Unfortunately some games I'd like to obtain are too pricey for me.
Better get them now. Just bought a limited edition unopened galaxy one for $750 on eBay. Pre owned ones are much much cheaper, but unopened ones are getting more expensive. I think the 3ds is still worth it because of the games but more, importantly the ability to play retro games from the nes, snes, gameboy, etc. You cant, really play these games on the switch cause for some reason Nintendo didn't add that feature. Also the 3ds actually has a web Browser, can play music and take pictures. I think they discontinued Netflix a while ago but theoretically you could access Netflix through the web browser, right?
I’m bout to start my collection. I’m have the new 3ds and I’m getting 3ds xl tomorrow. Just need a 2ds and new 3ds xl for me to be cool with my collection.
One fact that is wrong: about DS games on 3DS. Zelda Minish Cap cannot be played on 3DS since it's a GBA game and not a DS game. You can play these DS Zelda games on 3DS: Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. And to make it clear about the 3D effect: the difference between 3DS and New 3DS is this... 3DS: sweetspot 3D projection New 3DS: eye tracking 3D projection (thanks to the built-in camera system) So that's the technical background why New 3DS got great 3D. You can always turn the 3D projection off so it's like you're using a 2DS. New 3DS can play 12 Zelda games! VC: Zelda 1, 2, 3, Link's Awakening DX and both Oracle games DS: Spirit Tracks & Phantom Hourglass 3DS: Ocarina, Majora, A Link Between Worlds and TriForce Heroes Don't forget Hyrule Warriors and Super Smash Bros where you also find Link! And I think you got some fractions from Zelda games in Ultimate NES Remix and WarioWare that are mini games and micro games compilations. Also soooo many Mario games for 3DS. It's insane how many Mario games there are. And especially if you count games like Yoshi's Island (DS) and New Island (3DS) and games like that. Plus Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 (games 1-6 from NES) and so much from VC. New 3DS XL and New 2DS XL are soooo great handheld consoles. The biggest con is that Nintendo focused almost nothing on online features. One good example is that you cannot share the courses from Super Mario Maker 3DS online like you can on Wii U. Just so stupid and silly. And you cannot browse and pick courses like you can on the Wii U version. But you can play kind of randomly choosen courses. SMM 3DS is still a good game but could have been so great! Personally I don't care so much - I also got a Switch and I can buy SMM2 when I want. I really really wish that Zelda Minish Cap was available on the eShop/VC for 3DS. Really want that game!

Yeee I’m so excited 😆
I haven’t used 3ds for the last 4 years cause my old 3ds died
Heck yea! Get ready for some awesome gaming:)
Omg. Thanks
@@JulianFlaco85 nice bro wished I had one too
@@vidsiwatch1721 it’s not that expensive, in Facebook they sell it for 90-150 bucks, so go for it
Your comment is 3 months old now so how is your 3DS and what games do you have and enjoy
Homebrew makes it insane too. The far best handheld emulator. I got a 2DS XL for $100 and a 128 GB microsd for like $30, and am able to run every handheld nintendo game I’ve ever owned on there.
I got myself a normal 2ds I modded recently and has a massive library of games installed on it. Plus the fact that you can use hshop to install games from a qr code is amazing.
It’s my favorite system. Many things on the 3DS are still not found on the Switch. Like the Mic, two cameras, the stylus, the dual screens. All those features made gaming unique in the 3DS. I wish the Switch had all of those considering it was an upgrade.
Can't forget about street pass, Folders, eshop(in the 3DS the eshop is far better), And DS compatibility
My 3DS died in 2018 on the same day I lost my charger I never found it so this video hit me right in the feels 😂

I just ordered the “new” 3DS, can’t wait to play with it! I was hesitant because i have a switch lite but I think it’ll be worth it :). I used to have a DSI but it died ages ago.
I have switch lite but still game on my new 3ds. Such a great system. You will be very happy to have it. Just check guy call sthetix on UA-cam if you would like to mod it.
I have a switch as well, but am glad I have both consoles! They rock!
Im having problems finding a new nintendo 3ds, where did you order yours?
@@izzetert1794 The are getting ridiculously expensive and prices are insane, the new 2Ds is also a lot more expensive than a half year ago, if you can find one get it now!!
It paaaains me how expensive 3DS games already are! I can't even imagine how bad it'll be in 2-3 years
@@SamsMangaReviews They shouldn't get too much worse, based on the DS prices. They shoot up then stay stable once they get to around $60ish for most games. Only a few should hit the $100+ range
Install CFW, and download them for free. It's super easy, but if you're not comfortable with it, don't. That's what I'm doing though.
Persona Q2 is really expensive now. I'm hoping to find it used.
@@holymanbob9491 still too much for used games
The music will stay with u forever
"Nintendo really has this ability to take a person in whatever stage in life they are, and bring them back to the true meaning of being a kid and having fun... On the outside Mario, Pokemon, etc. all look like children's games, but when you put them on your hands you do feel like a kid again, and that's the true meaning of gaming."
Dear Sam, I ran into your channel by accident, but I'm very glad I did.
I agree. I can't put my finger on it as far as the switch...it doesn't spark the same joy that the 3DS brings.
Wii U was a great system. It just didn't sell well. Believe me. Had one of the best first pary libraries. This is why you see so many of their games being ported to the Switch.
I always wanted a Wii u but 6 years later and I realized that I don't need it because the 3ds had good games that the Wii u had
Recently purchased a 128 GB SDXC card for my New 3DS XL, and it's arriving tomorrow! At long last, it's time to download all the games I never got to play!
You've got a crazy amount of great games coming your way!
Randomly stumbled upon this video in my algorithm and I loved your take. TY for uploading!
Thank you! I still need to play and beat Bravely Default:)

I’m thinking about getting a 3DS in 2021.
Still playing it today and catching up all the great games I missed and FE Awakening is also one of them!
Great video. The passion you have for gaming really shines through.

Hey there, great 3DS review of really good games that I adore too bro!!! Love it. Keep it up...
Yeah, being a 3DS collector is rough right now/: Facebook marketplace and eBay are probably your best bets!
I have bought many games from online stores that sell used games. The only thing is that they aren't brand new, but they are spruced up and look new. And they're much cheaper.
@@plumdutchess if you can import games try Mercado Libre, purchased Yokai Watch 3 for only 20 bucks.
@2:14 lolll imagine being that one lady without the glasses trying to watch the movie.
I found as a game collector the games most worth collecting are and always have been Nintendo Games.
I agree, I'm getting a 2ds soon so I can play Majora's mask again, I love that game.
I picked up Animal Crossing New Leaf months after I got AC New Horizons, and honestly NL on the 3DS is a better game
Nintendo has made it clear that they're not bringing it over to the Switch, so the 3DS is my only access to these games.
girl pockets lol

The new 3ds is stil my favorite console by a mile in 2021.
I recently bought a new 2ds xl and homebrew'd it and boy is it the best handheld I've ever had
Hey man. I found the exact same nintendo 3ds samus edition for insane cheap price in one shop. It was cheaper because its an older* device. I love it! My 3rd ds...(1 3ds xl, 1 ds lite and this samus edition one) 3ds xl is still my favourite device :)
Thanks for the video. Is it worth even if I already have Nintendo Switch? Are there still any new games released for 3DS?
@@doafan455 the 3DS had a drift problem but not to that extreme. I’ve had one system that got drift. But, yes both are great to own.

Bravely devault, Pokémon X, and Mario 3D land are stil amazing games on the 3 ds.

Street Fighter 4 on 3ds was a good game though, it was mind blowing actually and Pilotwings still has the most impressive 3d effect
Personally I think the tiles for the DSi are better than the titles on the 3DS. You've just got more variety, like Metroid Prime, Age of Empires, Theme Park, Capcom vs SNK Card Fighters, etc. But you can play them on the 3DS.
Hey really enjoyed your video! Could you do a video on must buy/your favourite 3ds games? Thanks so much!
I just picked up a "new" 2ds xl second hand in perfect condition. Yes, I'm in love with it. Unfortunately some games I'd like to obtain are too pricey for me.
Homebrew is an option
Everyone says the price drop was unprecedented, but they did the exact same thing with the N64.
Wow, I had no idea! Nintendo is smart with the price cuts, worked for the N64 and 3DS!
The 3ds was really good to the point of some what replacing the Wii u in sales
Great vid bro
Better get them now. Just bought a limited edition unopened galaxy one for $750 on eBay. Pre owned ones are much much cheaper, but unopened ones are getting more expensive. I think the 3ds is still worth it because of the games but more, importantly the ability to play retro games from the nes, snes, gameboy, etc. You cant, really play these games on the switch cause for some reason Nintendo didn't add that feature. Also the 3ds actually has a web Browser, can play music and take pictures. I think they discontinued Netflix a while ago but theoretically you could access Netflix through the web browser, right?
I love my 3DS I always take it with me for street pass and I love 3D technology.
I have the original 3DS and just brought the new nintendo 3DSxl.
I’m bout to start my collection. I’m have the new 3ds and I’m getting 3ds xl tomorrow. Just need a 2ds and new 3ds xl for me to be cool with my collection.

But I'm really tempted to get the 3x model
I have dsi Lite, DS xl,3ds,3dsxl,2ds xl brand New
My 3ds taught me how to be a 3ds/2ds hacking master
One fact that is wrong: about DS games on 3DS. Zelda Minish Cap cannot be played on 3DS since it's a GBA game and not a DS game. You can play these DS Zelda games on 3DS: Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.
And to make it clear about the 3D effect: the difference between 3DS and New 3DS is this...
3DS: sweetspot 3D projection
New 3DS: eye tracking 3D projection (thanks to the built-in camera system)
So that's the technical background why New 3DS got great 3D. You can always turn the 3D projection off so it's like you're using a 2DS.
New 3DS can play 12 Zelda games!
VC: Zelda 1, 2, 3, Link's Awakening DX and both Oracle games
DS: Spirit Tracks & Phantom Hourglass
3DS: Ocarina, Majora, A Link Between Worlds and TriForce Heroes
Don't forget Hyrule Warriors and Super Smash Bros where you also find Link!
