Dear Ben, I really like your humility in explainig your photography, the various problems, the reflected light, the clouds. Thank you, thank you so much!
The crunch of boots on gravel, wind whistling through the canyons, and the cheerful twangy guitar announces another Ben Horne adventure. 2:48 would have been totally my style, and I would have sworn 3:24 would have been yours. (And 4:03 looked like a Japanese stone garden, yet you took the kind grand landscape you hardly ever take at 10:48.) Now that I’m through with DV for the year, I’m going to need to follow in your footsteps yet again and get to Zion myself.
it must be said your uninterrupted commercial free videos are just so calming and gives me the sense of being there, I find that that's not easy to do but you always nail it, great video Ben!
I admire the light on the grand view image. For a second at 11:07, you might end up including hikers in your image. I also admire the video composition in your Moqui marble setup with the three sandstone pedestals in the background. At one angle, it appears the pedestals are ascending up the hill. Absolutely fantastic images. Thanks for sharing as always, Ben.
Great to have you back in Zion Ben. Shooting grand landscapes and high speed video...must be something in Zion air🤣 Love the images. This was another great series. Thanks for sharing. Till next time....safe travels.
being a former landscape photographer, watching you go about creating your grand vista was a rare old treat 🙂 I also stopped the film and said "wow" outl oud at the scene and light at 2:50.
Zion is so beautiful. I've only been there once (I'm UK based) but it was with my family and sadly I wasn't able to do it justice photographically. I'd love to return on day. I find it interesting watching your videos and seeing how totally different are our respective creative interests. On this video I spotted two or three compositions that may have interested me quite close to where you were shooting. However, I just loved your grand landscape shot - perfectly composed and captured. Keep up the good work Ben.
Wonderful video, Ben, with two beautiful images to show for it. And it’s always such a joy to see your fab b-roll compositions, they take your videos to another level 🙌🏻
Fantastic video and another fantastic series filled with inspiration and wonderful photography. Thanks so much for sharing your journeys and your art with us. It always makes such enjoyable viewing.
Always love your Zion trips , even though I’ve never been there and almost certainly never will I feel like I know the place Great to see the stormy conditions but shame you didn’t get the snow , thanks as always for taking me along
Thanks as always Mitch! Yeah, it was definitely a chilly one that morning, but by the time it was midday, it sure was nice. My hands didn't even get chilly while riding through the main canyon on my road bike.
Tell us that you are pranking us Ben. At 14:50, you have those 3 wild looking formations in front of you and you shoot the moqui marbles? I was sure you were going to break character and tell us, "Just kidding, I'm really photographing these three formations." I like the marbles, don't get me wrong. But those three pedestals? Was there no composition? Are they frequently photographed? Put my OCD mind at ease.
Those are indeed some interesting formations, but when it comes to landscape photography, you need 3 things to align: subject, composition & light. Just because you find an interesting subject doesn't mean it will make a compelling photo. I see potential for a closeup photo of the texture of those sandstone formations, but the light would be best when backlit on a sunny day so I could photograph them in localized reflected light, or perhaps just after sunset when they are lit by a glow on the horizon for dimensional light. Things get more difficult if one is considering photographing a wider view of them. Now you need to find a composition that balances the foreground and background while also considering when the light would be best. So in short, yes, they are interesting, but that alone doesn't make for a good photograph. It's only 1/3 of the puzzle. :-)
appreciate your efforts there in the field and the presentation.... the last image is nice, but i didnt find the comp nor light that flattering tbh. Im not sure any of those would be in your portfolio, such is your standard. Ansel shot only at the very precise moment where everything was perfect. Seems these days no one does that... requires such patience and total commitment to a standard many of us aspire to, but will never make.
You are a UA-camr, not a reel photographer!. You are not able to see whats around you. Talking aboat light as no othet is able to see the light. I would NEVER bought those pictures!
Love both images you captured Ben, with the wide scene being very nice indeed - the foreground rock is amazing.

Absolutely love the “grand” landscape image. The area is so different from what most of us experience. It is beautiful.
I really like that you've tried something new with the large wide landscape. Also one a the few times I've seen a person wonder through your video.

I really like all the photos but for me the big winner in this video is the grand landscape image. Really impressive, the light is so good.

A photo in Zion that includes sky! I never thought I’d see the day.

A wonderful 'bonus' and two beautiful images as a result. Also that amazing light at the beginning of the video across the valley was breathtaking.

@3:55... my favorite Ben Horne Poster !! :)
I love that large scene and that of the moqui marble. Brilliant as always!
17:45 That slide looks so good on the light table.
Always love your Zion trips , even though I’ve never been there and almost certainly never will I feel like I know the place
Great to see the stormy conditions but shame you didn’t get the snow , thanks as always for taking me along
more grand landscape shots in Zion please! They compliment your other shots and tell the full story.
Thanks for the video. I have a lot of respect for you film shooters, you really have to know what you are doing. Great images.
I always anticipate the grand landscapes photos more Ben. Indeed it is looking great.
The grand landscape one is a true winner!
Finally some wide spread landscape photography!
Great presentation, Ben . Love all the images. Thanks. KB
A pleasant surprise Ben Horn in Zion video. Thanks for sharing.
When Mr Horne starts shooting grand landscapes every other landscape photographer out there might as well throw their gear in the dumpster. ❤
Beautiful work, Ben. The lighting of the grand landscape was wonderfully captured.
I like the grand landscape too.
A nice little bonus after DV ending and I was waiting on the Image review, like these two 👍
Pretty sure I’ve photographed those exact moki marbles😂
That second image is superb, Ben.
I'm still watching the first minute of this video but I can already tell this is a good one as always!
Awesome videos as usual Ben, that marbel photo is amazing trying to visualize it upside down
Great work Ben. Looking forward to " next time "
Look so familiar! I was at the exact spot last October! It was super windy at the point! 😊
Lovely episode! And i find more grand landscape in recent videos!
always good watching you work your magic. On that last shot I could hear how cold it was in the roundness of the vowels as you talked.

Nice work! Two interesting subjects for sure.
Great video Ben! Awesome wide shot 💥
Thanks Kenny! I was pretty lucky to have a shooting position that was sheltered from the wind on that one.
