I got my Pulsar a couple days ago and I’m officially a fan of Kunwu knives. It’s my first Kunwu and the first time I’ve held one. So we’ll done and that plunge grind is excellent. Maximum life of the blade for sure. Thanks for the video!
I couldn’t have done that without you. It was such a pain and not for a novice like myself. That little torx wrench Kunwu included was garbage and stripped my screws. They sent me a new set so I watched this video and followed closely. At the last moment before putting the closing scale on, the little collar that the spring attaches to launched downstairs from my spot upstairs and it landed in my kids mountain of paper, junk and toys. Made me want to cry. Found it an hour later and finished up. Much better and thanks again
Good! I’m so glad it was helpful. I had a hell of a time getting it back together my first time, I figured someone would be grateful for a walkthrough. 😉
Really makes you appreciate the drop bear’s simplicity in changing out the omega springs! Looks like a real PITA to work on but it’s a nice looking knife!
I’m so happy for you dood!! I wanted you to get that knife so bad haha Hope it arrives quick! They might already be in the states, in fact I’d bet they are. I think it will be fast shipping
Thanks for the video. I put in the strong springs. Relatively easy to do. Some of my screws were heavily lock tighted. I had a struggle with the thumb tab on the show side. It had a ton of lock tight on it. Crazy good knife. Took a very high polish on the edge. Ridiculously sharp now. Out of the box was still sharp. Now it can whittle hair. Love the diamond pattern. Smooth but still offers good grip. Action with the strong spring still softer then a Manix 2 but does take a nice flick to reverse flick open. Probably going to jump on the kickstarter for the Chad thats up right now.
Awesome! Yeah I really love the knife too. I haven’t put my own edge on it yet, but hearing you talk about it makes me want to. It did come very sharp out of box as well! Super good cutting geometry too! I did a cut test video with it if you’re interested. I’m sure you already know how well it cuts though 😉
I watched your cut test video also. My knife took almost a month to ship to me. So I consumed about every video I could find on the knife as I waited patiently to get it in my hands.
thanks for this I was having a hard time until I watched you video. I do know that I like the strong springs better. The normal springs were to weak for me.
Thanks for the video!! I normally take a couple photos for the first disassembly but after I hod mine all apart and did not remember how that little spring holder for the round end was positioned. The strong springs are much better and loving the Ti Pulsar.
I'd be thinking about taking those steel liners down to my friendly neighborhood machine shop, and getting a couple extra holes knocked in that liner on either side of the omega spring hole, so you could tune the detent like a Kizer Drop Bear.
@@doodysdaggers no idea. But I do know I love my Drop Bear. Something about that swedge. I've never played with mine, but maybe I should try and stiffen it a bit.
Nice helpful vid! I did it way less dramatic. One scale/spring at a time. No need for total disassembly. Just hold the blade in place when you do the “main pivot” side. Tight tolerances makes the pivot a bit challenging to push back in, but just wiggle the blade and look thru the hole. I find the stronger springs just a tad too strong, hoping they will wear in. One of each was perfect, but I guess that might cause the bar to stick over time.
I bought the Ti Pulsar from KunWu's website right after watching your unboxing/disassembly video. I'm going to take your advice and live with the knife for a while before screwing it up. The hardest part is waiting for it to be shipped from China to France. Cheers.
Awesome man, I’m glad you were able to get one!! That’s smart, leaving the stock springs in for a while. You don’t want to have to take apart the knife more times than you have to 😉 thanks for watching!
Since you have to take out the liners and take everything apart to get the springs out, there’s no point in trying to told everything together because it’s all apart. Maybe it could help a little in the reassembly, I’ll try it next time! If there is a next time haha Hopefully this was the last time I take apart this knife 😉
@@doodysdaggers I hope so too! Maybe I'll try it. Still debating if I wanna try the strong springs. Maybe I'll try stretching the regular springs, since there's a spare set of them in case I break them 😅 I really appreciate their extra springs
@@davec3651 haha yeah curiosity will get the best of you, you’ll probably end up trying the stiff ones I bet. Let me know what you think when you get it!
I just got the Django and I changed springs as well to make the detent stiffer. Holy hell was it a nightmare. I hope these springs last, because I don’t think I want to have to do that again. The omega springs kept popping off. If they would have put torx screws on both sides of the pivot it would’ve been tons easier swapping springs.
Ya I did the same didn't even give the og springs a chance lol now im gonna put the og springs back on.... do you think its worth trying to put in skiff bearings just curious?
Yr the first video I saw on the pulsar, I found kunwu knives a bit ago. But too late for the preorder. I bought one the day they went on the site! So thanks!
@Doody's Daggers in the video you say you recommend something like this to put into the pivot whole once you remove the pivot like on the whole gekka to keep everything aligned up. The problem is you never mention what it is, or put in the link to purchase it. I tried to put in the numbers that were on the item, I freeze framed the screen but that didn't work. I just tossed mine in the trash. The screws for the bar lock came out easy on one side but the other took a lot of patience and finally came out but would not go back in. It’s not worth the time and effort. Junk
