What if his purported Will is a Product of FRAUD, Undue Influence etc … ie. LKY’s Will was never Formally Challenged in Court but We know LHY & Wife is under Probe…🤔
As a Singaporean, trying to understand my late PM.Lee I believe he was a very incredible man, from the time we Singaporeans knew our great leader yes he was a great leader but also extremely humble simple in his own right, look he didn’t even try to cling on to power for one day… I guess he was so great he didn’t even think of reminding people how great he was by turning his once home into a museum, because I’m sure what he did and accomplished during his lifetime we and all our future decades Singaporeans will remember all his all his greatest achievements. So I hope my fellow Singaporeans would concur with me with his wishes “ let Oxley be torn down!! and his legacy be left in peace forever…..thank you. Or give all Singaporeans a chance help our beloved leader “Rest in Peace” a vote to the outcome? I hope whatever the result we and the government must listen to their people’s voices?
True! Let him live in peace! What do difficult to demolish the house as requested by our father MR Lee Kuan Yew. It is not telling you to come out a million. It is just so simple to obey the request by all Singaporean Father. I hope there is no more hesitation or motive as not following our beloved father instruction. We remember Father Lee in our heart but not looking at the building as it serve no purpose. Please don’t ever go against his will 🙏🙏🙏
One of the ways to show our respect towards a loved one is to abide by his/her wishes, imagine you had written your wishes in your will explicitly but ended up not being honoured or carried out accordingly??!! I don't understand why is it so difficult to honour the wishes of the deceased? None of us can avoid death, we will be gone one day, would we not want our own wishes (if any) be honoured upon our death?
I m a Malaysian in my mid seventies n l remember quite vividly that LKY once said he would prefer hundreds of people living in his small compound rather him occupying ‘ alone ‘ : very unselfish. What a great ‘ STATESMAN ‘
All options are nonsense except to fullfil the last will of the estate owner. Anything out of the will of deceased is not respectful n unlawful as well. This got nothing to do w good or bad, rather, it's the last will n what the soul wanted per se.
Yes, I heard Mr LKY said " He'll wake/jump up from his grave" if anything not right for Sg. He and his cabinet were great architects and builders of Majulah Singapura. Pray/Hope they rest in peace. Tks.
As much as i think the house should be retained for historical purposes, but since it is expressed clearly by the deceased person that the house is to be demolished, we should honour the deceased person's wish.
Mr LKY and Mrs LKY turning in their graves when they start to fight over this issue again. Now, it will be interesting to see how our dear Mr Lawrence Wong going to handle this. Probably he will listen to his predecessor and preserve the whole house and place.
Mr Loo is very simple let Singaporean vote and decide for them. SM try to keep it for what? I love and respect our father LKY in my heart for he done for Singapore . And since LHY and sister already said their dad and mum asked them to demolish, just do it. It shouldn’t made it till so big issues and let all Singapore uneasy and wasted all the precious time. 一间屋子搞到大家都不得安宁 让全新加坡🇸🇬人也都在谈论 浪费时间 应该放的就放下 海阔天空😎😎😎😎😎
Who is the legally registered owner(s). If it's private & personal I.e. not paid by Gov than it shall be decided by the owners or children that inherited it. The Gov should not interfere with the wishes of the legally registered owners or its inheritors.
I feel that Mr. LKY wishes should be honoured and no one should interfere. This conflict would not have happened if it had been carried out. Yes, all Singaporean will forever remember him in our hearts n mind. Good idea, name our airport after Mr. LKY.
This is an internal family's affair. Non of our business even though he was the founding leader of the country. After serving Singapore till he died, you still want to violate his wishes? There many ways to remember someone. Marking his birthday as a national holiday, keeping his photo, books etc in the national library etc. Let LKY have some room for his personal and family wellbeing. It the least Singaporean can do la.
The audacity to make 38 Oxley Road a national issue using national resources to battle possession of the house when LKY did not bequeath it to a single child. The asset should be distributed equally among LKY children and have the land redeveloped. LKY being a controversial figure had the wisdom to prevent his house to be retained as a symbol of his legacy to avoid stirring emotions and unwarranted sentiments. Sadly LKY sins befall his children to suffer his bad karma.
Those carry bladders ministers caused the Lee Family feud. Those carry bladders ministers do bad things in the Grey areas of the law. But the final decision has to be LHL. Hope this is a lesson for future PM.
Very good idea to honor the man with airport. And I think it's also the best way to honor the passing's will to demolish the house and let that location continue to progress. As I remember I read it somewhere in one of the book by the late Mr LKY. He will be remembered by those who truly respect and loved him in our heart not the old house. It's just my thoughts. And Mr Loo, I like 99% of your youtube contents. Thank u and keep it going.
Bible the Lord's Word - Mark 8.36 : for what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 2) Hope for the restoration according to Mr/Mrs LKY wishes the Last Will. Tks❤️🙏
The house now belongs to LHY. It’s his call. My own opinion is to respect LKY’s wish that he didn’t want to be immortalized in anyway. He already his memoirs. It’s best to take photos of the house externally & internally, keep some small artifacts & display these at Founders’ Memorial which is being built. Also our Sg history books should record the phases of Singapore past eras ( pre colonial, colonial, join Msia, independence, nation building since 1965 ) till the passing of LKY. This part of Sg history should be mandatory to be taught in our schools in upper primary & secondary schools.
Why would a government comprising of highly educated and learned people not understand simple English expressed by their leader whom they profess to respect and honour? Given that it is a family matter as mentioned, why should the government being an outsider put their leg in and lead the country to global shame? What kind of government is this? If they simply kick the can down the road hoping that future generations would find it less contentious, then the present government deserves no respect.
Law conservation law applies to every building in Singapore regardless of whether it’s owned by who or left by whoever’s will. Parliament is supreme and I’m sure LKY would die for this statement too. Here, his children are challenging the institutions that he had spent his entire life building it.
Mr Lee once said, this is the place where i bring foreign gov.officials to, when they want to borrow money from singapore n to borrow from richer countries when we needed, it works both ways, the frugality our then PM built Singapore from a third world to first, holds many lessons for our future generations. Its a classroom that can never be replicated. Many countries struggle to find n build wt their founding fathers left behind, we hv one real deal here, demolishing it will forever be gone. Mr Lee Kuan Yew also said, all MPs are public figures non private, whatever u do hv a responsibility and impact to Singapore and Singaporeans, i hope for a wise outcome.
While I respect that everyone has an opinion, it's a family matter. It's not our business nor the politicians. I saw LKY before he became Sg PM. The Late LKY didn't want a memorial in his name. Period.
Honestly, why should this even discuss here ? Many people are well aware about the controversy. Seems like everything under the sky need to be reported ? focus, Man. Let discuss best Satay in JB next.
There's already a memorial being built for LKY. It costs something like 330+ million dollars. Why then, is there a further need to preserve 38 Oxley Road? It should have been either one or the other.
It none of our business. They should discuss how to bring down the cost living n help the poor and old folks medical costs. Is the house is more important than our living n survive. ?? Why you so.karvpoh???
No big deal…Simple solution..build a 3D house , living room and replica at Museum or Memorial …no creative solution…need to hire a consultant ? Look no further 😅
The idea of calling changi airport as LKY airport would be much better in terms of branding values and rebrand the name f rom *changi* which zero value to *LKY* would definitely create values 100x. Look at how F1 night racing promoted singapore island. And 2018, Singapore for the meeting place for Trump , north korea Kim talks, spent $1m for this occasion created 100x of promotion values for this island. The Parliament should start to table this proposal asap.
Actually it was his sis and his father in law's funeral! There was never a stop just a pause! And it didn't merely cause Sporeans grief but also embarrassment. I could be wrong but as far as I remember, lky had always said he didn't want a statue of himself n for oxley Rd to be demolished as it was too expensive to maintain...so in his wisdom, he didnt want to burden the nation. However you are right to say from the house, we can tell the character of our founding fathers
Map out 38 Oxley Rd and allow visitors to use AR to visit it at The Founder’s Memorial. Move the dining rm there too. What a bad idea to name T5 after LKY. He was a person who loathed hero worship. Remember LKY for his love for his countrymen, his intellect and great deeds. Naming T5 as LKY Airport cheapens the great work of our founding prime minister.
In my opinion, keeping the unit will incur recurring maintenance costs, and likely not many people will visit. Better respect the family's wish and the land to better use. Mapping out the room in AR is a great idea to preserve it's historical value.
I am a person whom usually don’t agree much with PAP policies. However, I concur with Ex PM LHL on this matter that the house should not be demolished. This is a house of HUGH HISTORICAL VALUE for a young country like Singapore. In fact, It should be kept as a TIME CAPSULE where FUTURE generations could L👀K back and physically sense how this pioneer leader of theirs could live in such frugal conditions and YET, had the VISION to transform Singapore in to a MODERN country which we are all in. That said, this house should also not be made to idolise LKY but give the younger generation A SENSE OF PERSPECTIVE.
It is ironic that people want to keep his house, to remember that he was our great pioneer leader, who built up singapore, and yet we doubt the wisdom of his wish to demolish it. It is like respecting him, by not respecting his wish.
Future generations will tell you their time and his time is different. To us, it was frugal. To the future generations, they may tell you it was a luxury to live like that during that time. Don't turn it into a museum. Visitors will look for toilet and you don't want people all over the world to come and pee in 38 Oxley. 1, demolish. 2, Name Airport 5 as LKY Airport and rebuild 38 Oxley as a monument so that everyone around the world can come visit and appreciate what LKY has been through. Free admission. 3, Lee the Lee's family reunited. For all that LKY has done for Singaporeans, the least Singaporean can do is to see his future generations continue to enjoy the fruits of his hardwork. 4, Welcome LHY, wife and his son ShengWu return back to SG. They are talents which SG should retain. United we stand.
LKY 60’s. There are many memorial houses and buildings e.g. Studio Jalan Ampas (Malay Film Production & SB) S'pore, King’s Studio PJ aka Abbey Rd Studio, P Ramlee House George Town, P Ramlee Memorial House KL. Some are well kept and archieved and others look dilapidated.
Dear Mr Loo, I have 3 comments to make: 1) I can appreciate the merits of preserving 38 Oxley Road. It holds valuable memories of the early founding years of Singapore. 2) Having said that, 38 Oxley Road is a private family issue & the 2 brothers should sit down at the table & resolve it amicably, for the sake of their family. 3) Everything is important. But at the end of the day, nothing really matters....
Seems off topic for this channel. I agree no one can resolve this for them. It’s internal family affairs. I don’t care what they do with their own inheritance land
actually, this is a very petty issue. is 38 oxley road the elixir of youth? gateway to paradise? surrender of SG to Japan? Circuit Breaker of 2021? so how exactly (demolish or keep) does it affect the wellbeing of SG?
We should build it up the entire place into memorial building with the dining area encased in glass house inside a modern structure as LKY is widely know world wide. Will be a nice tourist attraction. Other floors wil becomes exhibition of singapore with our fouding father and his team. How they manage riots, communist etc
this site should be kept like a museum. Evn in the UK, houses where even poets were born or lived in are kept as national heritage. LKY was the father of singapore. this house must be a national heritage site.
Why have such comparison? Did those poets make a will like LKY did? It was in his will and he had even explained his reasons for doing so when he was alive. You are disrespecting him.
38 Oxley is a fenced, private property, so what happens there remains there, thank you very much, though it’s really beyond the control of every stakeholder, private, public or government, for bystanders to whip out their mobile phone cameras, point here and comment there… after some time, no matter how turbulent the water churns, it will finally settle in the lowest realm, calm and well… period
It should not be demolished. It should be turned into a museum. Many locals n foreigners will want to visit. All proceeds from entree fee should go to charity. I am sure Mr Lee Kuan Yew would want to help our charity organisations.
It is actually a private owner house, not a public house. And if the owner had written in his will to demolish it, even giving his reasons for doing so, his wish should be respected. LKY was a practical man and obviously will not approve of ppl remembering him bec of the house. Don't value a person's house but his values. This should be the right way to go for Sg.
Wah piang! museum is a tourist place right ? So sure got toilet right ? Can't imagine people all over the world come and pee at 38 Oxley then happily say, ' i helped to contribute to SG charity organisations'. 😭
Mr Loo, pls excuse me but, I wish you didn't post this video. There is already enough of bad vibes over this matter. No need to add oil into the fire. There are far more serious matters to ponder over. Whether they demolish or not, the economy is not going to be affected. No companies are going to exit Singapore because of this, unlike what happened in China right now. No body will lose their jobs, their homes, their families over this matter. There is no hurricane storm coming unlike what happened in USA. Life goes on. We have better things to occupy our minds with. Things such as prayer for peace, prayer for her passing. Everything else, just leave them as they are. As I mentioned, enough of bad vibes going on already. It does not help the situation any better. People will be divided and quarrel over this, for what? Don't we have enough things to worry about? Why not use our short life to think of happier moments, cherish our limited time given to us. Pray to God for our well being and safety. Life is also so short, we can never know what is going to happen next when we leave home. Life is unpredictable even if you are living here in Singapore.
what a selfish way to live.. i'm happy Mr. loo made this video to share and I'll be seeking out more of Lee Wei Ling's writings as well as read more of LKY's books
There must be a Good Reason Why Not even 1 LKY Trusted General Bothered to Intervene to Rescue LKY’s Reckless Kids in Lee Family Circus 🎪… SG finally getting to see Their True Colours … RIP , KARMA Underway…
Respect their wishes and privacy. We should remember his greatness, not a house and respect his wishes for the house in his will.
What if his purported Will is a Product of FRAUD, Undue Influence etc … ie. LKY’s Will was never Formally Challenged in Court but We know LHY & Wife is under Probe…🤔
I rather the house to be demolished rather then having the house that kept reminding us of the family rift.
LKY does not want the house to be used as a political tool in the future. It should be demolished as per LKY’s wish.
Better to demolish the house if not LKY will literally "rise from the grave" lol...only a dishonorable son will go against his father's wishes
Yes, I heard Mr LKY said " He'll wake/jump up from his grave" if anything not right for Sg. He and his cabinet were great architects and builders of Majulah Singapura. Pray/Hope they rest in peace. Tks.
It's already known worldwide that Singapore is the country that Mr LKY built. Anything else is superfluous. Let's honour his wishes.
Lee Wei Ling should have posted her views about Oxley on social media and for the world to see. What a wasted opportunity.
As much as i think the house should be retained for historical purposes, but since it is expressed clearly by the deceased person that the house is to be demolished, we should honour the deceased person's wish.

Great Son, Great Big Brother and Great leader🤭
LWL passing is a family grieving period and the 38 Oxley Rd property is private family matter for them to sort out themselves.

Well said Mr Loo. Yes, I support your idea to use some other more effective ways to honour & remember LKY!
Who is the legally registered owner(s). If it's private & personal I.e. not paid by Gov than it shall be decided by the owners or children that inherited it. The Gov should not interfere with the wishes of the legally registered owners or its inheritors.

Good idea. LKY Airport? LKY Parliament House? LKY Supreme Court. All these good legacies & rule of law.
just put Lee Airport... Lee Parliament... Lee Supreme Court better..
This is our founding Father Mr LEE KUAN YEW wish. So simple just follow and let him rest in peace. Don’t let him be a lost soul ❤
Only you are interested. Why should we be interested?
The audacity to make 38 Oxley Road a national issue using national resources to battle possession of the house when LKY did not bequeath it to a single child. The asset should be distributed equally among LKY children and have the land redeveloped. LKY being a controversial figure had the wisdom to prevent his house to be retained as a symbol of his legacy to avoid stirring emotions and unwarranted sentiments. Sadly LKY sins befall his children to suffer his bad karma.
If ever it is to conserve. Nobody shall enter the house.
Those carry bladders ministers caused the Lee Family feud. Those carry bladders ministers do bad things in the Grey areas of the law. But the final decision has to be LHL. Hope this is a lesson for future PM.

Don't you get it? The land is a pot of gold when, redeveloped. If any part of the house is kept it will always remain a historical site.
Why would a government comprising of highly educated and learned people not understand simple English expressed by their leader whom they profess to respect and honour? If they simply kick the can down the road hoping that future generations would find it less contentious, then the present government deserves no respect.
The answer is simple: action should be carried out on what was stated in the will of the deceased.
follow which will.......... keep changing.... don't know is right... especially sick man, let court decide...
Law conservation law applies to every building in Singapore regardless of whether it’s owned by who or left by whoever’s will. Parliament is supreme and I’m sure LKY would die for this statement too. Here, his children are challenging the institutions that he had spent his entire life building it.

I like your idea, instead of calling changi airport terminal 5, call it LEE KUAN YEW Airport 🎉
LKY had said that he didn’t want to be immortalized like Mao etc which was published in ST.
Who cares they can always do a replica of living room in founders memorial and demolish the original oxley road
Excellent suggestion
None of our business. Why discuss such topic? Mostly opposition parties supporters seen stirring up this issue. Zzzzzzzzzzzz
sigh….there are more important things to worry about that this.
what Singapore is today and for a long to come is the best way to remember him by.
Let the Lee family solve their internal problems first.
While I respect that everyone has an opinion, it's a family matter. It's not our business nor the politicians. I saw LKY before he became Sg PM. The Late LKY didn't want a memorial in his name. Period.
What happens if it is deferred for too long a time, and LHY passed on? Will it become state property, or passed to LHY’s son if it is willed that way?
Honestly, why should this even discuss here ? Many people are well aware about the controversy. Seems like everything under the sky need to be reported ? focus, Man. Let discuss best Satay in JB next.

Let the owner decide. Nothing to do with Lawrence Wong. He is our PM to take care of singaporeans.
Not to interfere
Show respect to Lee Kuan Yew and wife wishes. The people of Singapore at the least owes him that.

For money sake..... The land is prized....
I am a person whom usually don’t agree much with PAP policies.
However, I concur with Ex PM LHL on this matter that the house should not be demolished.
This is a house of HUGH HISTORICAL VALUE for a young country like Singapore.

Dear Mr Loo,
I have 3 comments to make:
1) I can appreciate the merits of preserving 38 Oxley Road. It holds valuable memories of the early founding years of Singapore.
2) Having said that, 38 Oxley Road is a private family issue & the 2 brothers should sit down at the table & resolve it amicably, for the sake of their family.
3) Everything is important. But at the end of the day, nothing really matters....
let Mr.Loo decide.. he can not sleep...
@@HUAHUA1 why can't sleep ? Just tell yourselves ... Let everyone get over these mourning period first. Now is not the time to discuss this.
Seems off topic for this channel. I agree no one can resolve this for them. It’s internal family affairs. I don’t care what they do with their own inheritance land

so how exactly (demolish or keep) does it affect the wellbeing of SG?
is a shame argument
We should build it up the entire place into memorial building with the dining area encased in glass house inside a modern structure as LKY is widely know world wide. Will be a nice tourist attraction. Other floors wil becomes exhibition of singapore with our fouding father and his team. How they manage riots, communist etc
Is this necessary & helpful?
Good afternoon Mr Loo
good one, Mr Loo
Busybody
much ado about nothing. family issue, let them sort it out. non of our opinions matter.
this site should be kept like a museum.
Headache
38 Oxley is a fenced, private property, so what happens there remains there, thank you very much, though it’s really beyond the control of every stakeholder, private, public or government, for bystanders to whip out their mobile phone cameras, point here and comment there… after some time, no matter how turbulent the water churns, it will finally settle in the lowest realm, calm and well… period
It should not be demolished. It should be turned into a museum. Many locals n foreigners will want to visit. All proceeds from entree fee should go to charity. I am sure Mr Lee Kuan Yew would want to help our charity organisations.
None of your business
@@coclim5712it's also none of your business what I say. Anyone is free to express their views. Surely u know! Haha!
What is your point?
Life is unpredictable even if you are living here in Singapore.
what a selfish way to live.. i'm happy Mr. loo made this video to share and I'll be seeking out more of Lee Wei Ling's writings as well as read more of LKY's books
this is good... we can never know what is going to happen .....next when we leave home
@@joellow8605 Ya. I agreed but now is not the time to talk about 38 Oxley. Get over the mourning period first.
Nothing to do with us we should mind our business.
Turn it into a museum for his past legacy.. surely. tourists will flock here. This will boosted the economy.
U totally missed the point by a mile
There must be a Good Reason Why Not even 1 LKY Trusted General Bothered to Intervene to Rescue LKY’s Reckless Kids in Lee Family Circus 🎪… SG finally getting to see Their True Colours … RIP , KARMA Underway…
LKY Airport sounds really good suggestion !!!
