In case other old timers come here. Likky has turned up alive and well and continues to want privacy. She married in the US and still lives there and wanted anonymity…she turned up via German Journalist hiring a private detective to follow up some leads…even her surviving family hadnt heard from her….so she was ‘found’ in 2021/2…i expect a web search will lead you to the whole story …i think it was mostly published on ISB facebook pages. Cheers Thisnis the best song Malcolm ever did…what an ending
@musharrafdog I, too, am a Young Incredible String Band fan. I've been listening to them since I was 15, and my life has been better since the moment 5000 Spirits touched my ears for the first time. They are an ethereal and legendary memory, no doubt.
the song has everything you could want such etheral beauty, to describe the song in its fullness is beyond words. Awesome song especially the introduction
An outstanding tune, that somehow I'd never heard before, by an outstanding band. My freshman-year roomie at Columbia, Ted Mooney (who went on to be an acclaimed novelist), turned me on to the the ISB in 1969, and I've been a fan ever since. I saw Robin perform in the late 1970s at The Towne Crier in upstate New York, which my brother Brian helped manage. After a musical set, Robin explained something about the Scots tradition of the "grigach", the storyteller (I might have the spelling quite wrong), and then told a story in that style. I had a chance to chat with him after the set, and he was a swell guy. Nowadays, whenever I need a lift, I just have to listen to "Adam and Eve" or "The Evolution Rag", and it picks me right up. And "Darling Belle" just slays me every time. I just sent a link to "Adam and Eve" to an Italian friend. Well - I'm getting a bit hungry - got a few leftover air croquettes, they should hit the spot.
thank you, sir. Darling Belle is lovely and terrifying and I also value it highly. I wish I could help you with the proper word for storytelling in the Celtic tradition. Van Morrison has quite a bit of it, but I'm all in with ISB.
im 16 and ive been listening to incredible string band for a couple years, they are fantastic and just move me, along with other artists among this time period, just all phenominal music
The second most perfect song ever written (the first was Banks of Sweet Italy). For the record, the third most perfect song ever written was Douglas Trahern Harding.
Most of these pictures are from a period way before this track, which, frankly, was when they were beggining to lose the plot.Their early stuff was magnifiscent though.
I'd forgotten all about this song. From ' The Liquid Acrobat as Reagrds the Air' ? I'm not sure, could be ' Hard Rope and Silken Twine' certainly one of the later albums
Una banda de rock escocesa, formada en 1965. Estuvo en woodstock en el 69, metida en el rock sicodelico. Considerados los pioneros el "acid rock" ...hasta su disolucion en 1974.
