Which cable are you using? I'm noticing a lot of people having issues with cables. I'd love to buy a coiled custom cable, but I'm worried it won't work with the Alt that I just ordered.
I assume you're not based in the Philippines? This was made by a custom cable maker here in the Philippines. I've bought more than four of these and all have worked with the Alt. The only issue with the Alt is that it is power hungry. Your cable should be connected to your PC and not via a hub. I have also bought some cables from Banggood :)
This is the greatest video on the Drop Alt ever made. I have been looking for videos that include the case change, foam mods and a decent sound test. I purchased the Alt High Profile and I am debating on returning it for the low profile. I got the High Profile because I figured it would have better sound. I would really appreciate if you can produce a video comparing the high profile and low profile. Ps. It would be safe to say that the high profile PCB can be mounted in the low profile case with no issues right?
Thanks for the comment! I have a high profile case here and I am planning to do that comparison in the coming weeks. There's just a lot of stuff to make a video on. Yes you can change PCBs and it would work. You can also just purchase the case from drop. The low profile case is only 90 USD with the diffuser. I personally prefer low profile cases but I am interested to know how the sound compares
It's normal and is the Drop Alt's fault. It requires too much power to light up the LEDs. Is it plugged directly to the USB socket on your PC? It can happen it the cord is too long.
@@TheDredgenProject yeah it’s plugged in directly. Can I ask how long your cable is cause I plan on ordering a new one that’s shorter than the one I have now
@@agali4404 I think mine is around 1.5 meters. Hard to check with the coil. You probably should have a shorter one though I'm not sure how other things affect the coil. Mine is also a bit dimmer with the coil but I don't mind.
You can use any foam though positioning it will be a bit tricky. The one on kbd has adhesives and it will stick to thr plate so it's easier to use. I have seen people use result foam between the pcb and top plate. The trace and draw the plate and cut out the foam. It's tedious but doable. I'm lazy so I do the kbdfans one. As to whether it's effective, I'll try it on a video. Haven't gotten around testing it with and without foam.
Haven't tried permatex so I can't compare. It's not available here (I think) so I've always used Dynatex. Seems to work fine so far. Edit: Permatex is the more known brand.

Definitely an improvement when adding the foam in! I need to get them...
Yes! A lot of people have been asking about foam mods so I uploaded it :)
Thinking of getting case foam for my Alt. Did it take away from the rgb underneath a whole lot?
Nope. Doesn't affect RGB. It is placed behind the led lights.
