A Tour of Lake Orion Lumber Co. (07/02/24)

On Tuesday, July 2, Lake Orion DDA Executive Director Matt Gibb took us on a tour of the Lake Orion Lumber Co. The property was purchased by the DDA and Gibb talked about plans to transform it into a public gathering space.

It would be awesome to see this turned into a history of Lake Orion type thing. Look up Naper Settlement in Naperville, IL. You'll see what I mean.

So glad to hear the land isn't going to be sold for some more apartment buildings. The farmer's market and community spaces sound like a plan to do things right. Just go easy on the parking and take advantage of those old great buildings and natural elements so it's turned into something the whole Lake Orion community can be proud of! Also, it would be a shame if those signs and artwork were removed from the property. They NEED to stay and be integrated as the cornerstones of the overall design.

Funny Matt should say, "We are not at a time where we want to be wasting money in court." Is that because we, as a village, have already been wasting tax-payer dollars on a malicious lawsuit against a resident who circulated a petition to get signatures in order to put the issue on the ballot to reduce the amount of tax-payer dollars the DDA could capture, so we could actually pay for infrastructure repairs?
