Shakespeare Theater, nevermind you guys burned that to the ground. Avco, oops. Success Village, serious oops, low income complex, oof. The extremely high mill rate, the kids riding around on unregistered bikes and ATV's making a mockery of police. Absolutely nothing to do. Do I need to go on? I'd need a really big piece of paper.
Everything that you said is true. You did say MOVE to Stratford. As a realtor, what is the cost to LIVE in Stratford? We are in a SILENT recession at the moment. Everything that you said is a visit not a residency. Thats not what this post is. You said reasons to MOVE to Stratford. Just a reminder.

I didn’t know much about Stratford before I moved here. The prices are affordable and the location is great 17 minutes to new haven 10 minutes to Fairfield 27 minutes to Stamford and 50 minutes to Manhattan. Stratford is a decent town
Thank you for your video, I’m considering a move to CT from Texas and originally from Detroit. Miss being near water. Visited the area a couple of times but missed Stratford, Milford and a couple of other towns.
@@connecticutcoastallife when the time is right. Stayed in Norwalk twice. Flew into BDL. Went kayaking down the Saugatuck in Westport. Shopping at Loved Boutique in Branford. Ate at Via Sporza and Sally’s Apizza plus drove to Providence but never been to Stratford. Love Hwy 15
I, myself am a resident here. I have some other reasons to move here. It’s only a 60 minute drive from New York City without traffic, it has great schools, it hosts great and entertaining events, it has not as much poverty as other places like Bridgeport even with a tiny bit, and it has several ponds to fish at thanks to Longbrook, Brewsters, Motil, Wooster, etc.
There was a time when you could take a puddle jumper from LaGuardia airport to Sikorski airport in Stratford. What a huge convenience. It was a Delta flight, too.
@Merchant2 that is amazing! I didn't know that. I would love if we had more airport options with major carriers in CT. Avelo at Tweed has become a nice option for us now.
I remember those days. I would be sitting pool side at my friend's house in Lordship, but would have to pause conversations for the planes coming in. When Clinton came to CT, all of i95, parts of the Merritt and all of Stratford was shut down, because he flew into Sikorski.
Give me one thing a teenager or child can do for fun at night in Startford. Rollerskating, dancing, anything beside for riding around on unregistered bikes. Perhaps Sterling House events?
I know many won't understand but as an older teenager, Friday nights consisted of someone bringing a quarter keg down Carbone's Trail and we had a huge party in the woods. The drinking age was 18. It was nothing but harmless fun. We talked (50 or more teens) and told ghost stories of mellonheads. We built a fort in the woods and had bonfires. Swam every day in the cool river, diving off rocks. If you needed beer, you went to Clarke. Oh yeah, we were rebels or at least we thought we were. That's what Stratford was.
In her video on West Haven, I was going to suggest Stratford instead of moving to West Haven. Stratford has the same amenities, but is thriving. One thing to be aware of, Stratford in general is contaminated with toxic chemicals. Short beach is on a landfill and both short beach and long beach have had guys in hazmat suits taking samples and trying to maintain what's there. Beaches are closed often due to pollution from Long Island sound as well. For cleaner sea water, go north in CT, but it's hard to find with the tide winds changing. Oceans are heating up and Fairfield county in CT has seen an increase in population of blue crabs, which are very southern crustaceans. Stratford is good for those just starting out, or trying to move away from NYC. There is a lot to do with children of all ages in this part of CT. Stratford is a part of Fairfield county and expect house prices to soar over the next couple of years. She claimed they were over $300K at the time of this video, but they are now over $400K two years later.
My husband works for Athletic. We are currently in San Diego but wanting to move to CT. Cost of living in California is unbearable. Connecticut seems way more affordable and I’m hoping we will become residents soon.
Interesting. I hadn't really learned much about Stratford and only though of it as being wedged between Sikorski Airport and Bridgeport, which didn't sound too enticing. Thanks for the video.
Perhaps read a bit more about the history of Boothe Park and the Boothe brothers (who built most of the buildings there by themselves). You might mention it's considered the oldest continuously lived in homestead in the United States--that is spelled out in stained glass in the homestead windows.. You might also want to mention that Short Beach has a par-three golf course that is open to the public.
Me being a Stratford resident, I love this town. You forgot a park which I fish at a lot, Longbrook Park. I am still devastated about the Shakespeare Theater Fire back in 2019. Everyone is fleeing this town to move down south sadly. Stratford is better than Bridgeport in fact! Hopefully Bridgeport gets redeveloped, and Stratford gets better than it already is!
There's a good reason why people flew Stratford, the high mill rate and lack of jobs, beside for Sikorsky. Trying to convince people that Stratford is better than Bridgeport is self defeating. Compare it to Fairfield instead or Milford rather than Bilgeport.
Bridgeport has been flat broke, bankrupt for close to 40 years, since '91. They aren't getting better any time soon. The mayor was jailed during his last term and has been reelected. The city is as corrupt as Chicago was with al Capone, and Bpt is a pit.
@@billhamilton6819hi I'm wondering if you would please explain why you say this. We're presently looking at homes for sale in Stratford & I'd really appreciate hearing your negative/honest thoughts about the town. Thank you!
I understand that not everyone is going to love the towns they currently live in or have lived in. But there are plenty of folks that do love it. Stratford has a lot to offer - plus everyone's got different taste!
@LBs Mom Thank you for your constructive criticism. I try really hard to give an honest review of areas without it being too scripted. I'm not perfect but I keep trying to educate folks on the area.
@@connecticutcoastallife My husband and I are interested in moving to Connecticut and you are our favorite channel for information. You have a nice, clear voice and a great personality. Compared to how most people speak here in California, you barely use the word 'like'. Thank you for your hard work 😊 Ps: we love the look of Milford, but property taxes are so high. I would stay away from connecticut all together for awhile until the taxes come down substantially and the political environment becomes less criminal.
like many CT towns, gov't. is for a closed group of insiders, CT is a very "clubby" state going back a long time. It's how they do things and it turns government into a very ugly thing. As with many places in CT, blacklisting and group bullying very much alive and well. It is a surprisingly crooked and mean little town.
What makes Stratford special to you?
