Are you familiar with BloodRoot Cafe? it is a small restaurant/B&B in Black Rock. I don't know if it is still in business. I left Bridgeport in 1988 (It was getting really bad) so I am glad to see it beginning o turn around. As a child I loved going to the zoo at Beardsley Park. @@newjvc007 Normally, this is in most cities. It's just that Bridgeport is not really a commuter spot. The reason almost all cities in Connecticut are some of the worst in the USA is the same reason, limited jobs. Connecticut has all of these stupid policies that limit jobs. However, it still has plenty of jobs. Just not as much as New York. In addition, the reason that there is bad stuff everywhere is because all the war industry left amid wars not being a thing anymore after the forming of the United Nations. They all laid off their workers. Bridgeport is starting to recover a bit.
I woke up this morning and saw a package of Bridgeford Pepperoni 🍕 on the counter and thought of Connecticut? I love the first 20 minutes of sleep walking in the morning. I'm sleep typing now...
My husband and I are considering moving to Connecticut. We have children and want to make sure we are living on a good area low on crime. Would you recommend Bridgeport or another area?
@Mikayla Brown it depends on what you are looking for. Do you want access to highways, trains, beaches, rural? Also really depends on your budget. Properties in CT can range widely. Contact me if you are interested in moving here. I'd love to help!
Do not do it! I left Bridgeport when I was 32 I'm 50 now, and my stomach turns everytime I plan a trip to go visit, and I have canceled every trip. You will regret moving to Bridgeport. My apologies for being negative about Bridgeport, but this lady is not showing the east side or west side of Bridgeport, the ghetto areas. Take a drive first by yourself around Bridgeport first and you will see.
Another area. Bridgeport is terrible. There are robberies everywhere, people get shot mugged. I would definitely recommend Stamford or Westport. It's closer to New York if you need a escape plan lol
The fake elitist attitude some people have…Bridgeport is a city that have suburban areas such as the north end above capitol ave and black rock…New Haven and Hartford has more crime…Bridgeport changed alot and are now building luxury lofts in the east end unfortunately people are getting priced out but that what happens when you never invest in your community
When talking about Total Mortgage Arena, you made a mistake. Sacred Heart does not play basketball there. I think they should eventually move there from the Pitt Center though. It was home to the Fairfield Stags basketball team, until they moved into their new arena. It was also the temporary home of the NBA-G league’s Westchester Knicks. They are basically the baby Knicks, just like how it is home to the baby Islanders.
@karenkerr4360 yes!! Great addition. I really want to do another video on Bridgeport to highlight more great things about it. I hope to get one out later this year.
As a Stratford resident who likes sports, one of my favorite things about Bridgeport is of course, the sports. Not the city, but the area that is just outside of Bridgeport, in Fairfield to be exact, is home to 2 colleges with many D1 athletics programs, which are Fairfield and Sacred Heart. SHU’s basketball gymnasium, the Pitt Center, really soon will no longer be just a gymnasium! They are turning in into more of an actual arena! In the city, even though it is a D2 school, University Of Bridgeport has decent sports. In fact, their women’s soccer team won the 2018 NCAA Division 2 National Championship for women’s soccer! Finally, it is home to a good amount of professional minor league teams. First of all, there is a minor league for MLS, a league known as MLS Next Pro, that will be getting a team in a soccer stadium being built on the river, across from downtown Bridgeport! I hope it will eventually join MLS! The team will be known as Connecticut United FC. Finally, even though I am a New York Rangers fan, the arena here is mostly home to the New York Islanders’ farm team, the Bridgeport Islanders, as well as being one of the 2 home arenas, besides UBS Arena in Elmont NY, the home of the real Islanders, of a women’s hockey team part of a new women hockey league called the PWHL! The team I am talking about is PWHL New York. They play some of their home games here because it is in the New York City area. Their other official home arena, like I said, is UBS Arena. They actually did their final 2 home games at the home of the New Jersey Devils, Prudential Center in Newark NJ! I think that if they ever get more PWHL teams in the future, PWHL New York would no longer be here, and only at UBS Arena, and possibly Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale NY as well, and it would have its own PWHL team, PWHL Connecticut! I am a huge sports fan, which is why I know this stuff!
