ELR looks 10k times better than a Tesla roller skate. That ELR is such a nice ride. I have 3 Caddys. 2020 XT5 Love it. 2023 CT4 Love and 2019 XTS (same color as your ELR) and I love it. Cadillac gets a bad rap. I've has so few issues over the years a lot than my MBZ or BMW's I've had. Even less the one of my family members has had with her Lexus is350. Keep your Cad!

This is exactly what I'm thinking!!!
Unless he love's it enough to keep it forever he needs to move it on down the road. A bird in the hand..... if he REALLY loves it then move it, buy another, move it for profit, then rinse and repeat until the used values inevitably crumble. Once properly "crumbly" keep THAT one and be in it of free when accounting for the profit made on the previous flips. That's the move!

I'd sell it, side it's a sweet ride and good on gas but you have the Tesla anyway. I think the styling is starting to age, pocket the 9 G's and make some memories with it.

@@ferrynpalmer3875 If I saw this correctly, hes actually bidding on a 2014 ELR so he could easily sell the 2016 for 21k and the 2014 for probably not much less. Both cars are low mileage so he is about to make bank! Randy is a smart guy, and given this car is easily going to net him 9k profit, I think these things are a win! After watching his videos I want one of these.

Right ? take the offer while is still available instead regret not taking it.. beside with the little profit he was already looking for another ELR black cheaper that would have different problems get that one and still have money left to fix it that one as well and decide latter to sell or keep that one too who knows maybe as time will pass by those might get a bump increase in value or maybe new improved batteries would be available to that Cadillac dealer and might worth keep at least one..

That ELR is one of the nicest gm products I’ve seen. Usually even Yukon denalis and Escalades still look a little cheap because they are basically just a Tahoe but it seems like with the ELR they went all out

agree man. That is a sweet looking car. I passed on one a few years ago and I think about it all of the time. They are worth way more now than they were back then. I think the 2016 is especially desirable because they only made 545 and it has more power and torque.

I got one recently. Honestly, coming from a Honda CR-Z, the lack of attention to detail is noticeable, but it is still a very nice car. The interior is very nice, with nice materials all around, very little plastic and what is there feels good. I love the almost Hot Wheels like appearance with the huge 20" wheels on a tiny body and the high waist line.

Randy, I'm not sure if you sold it yet, but I would agree that it's a nice, smooth, fun ride! I love my ELR, too.
On EV range, I get a constint 35-37 mpg. I have a 2104 ELR, and sometimes, when I'm all freeway, at 60 mph on the freeway, I get 39 mpg on EV. The trick after doing much research is to drive 5 miles below the speed limit. Other people hate me, but I have learned to cruise and enjoy the ride.
Also, if you change the charging to 12 amp, from the 8 Amp prest setting, on the level one charger, it should only take you 8-10 hours to fully charge the battery!

I can relate to what you are saying and the dilemma of either taking up Carvana's offer OR keeping / driving the car for yourself. As a "deal hunter" myself (although not cars specifically), I tend to get similar dilemma / emotions, especially when I have taken a chance / spent money on something not knowing the outcome and whether it will end up being a waste of money OR if I might get some value out of it. And then when it ends up being way better than expected, the emotional attachment starts creeping in. I think its normal for those of us that are "passionate" about these things (finding deals - be it cars or something else) when others look at them more as "transportation tools" etc.
As example, we have 2 cars - 1997 Civic EX stick shift and my wife's 1998 Accord. In fact, I came across this channel trying to figure out if there might be anything we could do about the horrible clear coat peeling on her car and saw your videos with the Accord you bought from Copart and turned it around after the Maaco job. Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that for me, after all the time and effort I have put into both cars over the years and everything I have learned while keeping the cars in good running condition for almost 200k miles each, especially the Civic (which I call my "fun car" due to the stick shift and the history of all the effort i put into finding it with American Honda's help back in the day), I am the one in the family wanting to hold on to them whereas wife and kids are of the opinion to sell and move on to something else / newer.
Long story short, my suggestion of next steps with the ELR might be to weigh whether losing Carvana's offer would be a bigger loss for you versus keeping the car for a bit and driving it around a bit to see how your thinking / feelings(?) for the car evolve? Another consideration might be any space constraints at AAR HQ - especially with the Bentley and potentially another ELR or other auction wins on the way? Regardless, whatever you decide, I don't think there could be a terribly wrong choice you make. I mean even if you pass on Carvana's offer now, they might still give a lower offer that could STILL make you some money - say $19k versus the current offer. So is the $2k for say 2 months of driving this ELR worth it for you / your circumstances?
Just my $0.02. Great video as always. Keep up the great work. 👍

Hey Randy, great video… wanted to thank you for taking the time to explain why this car,
or many other hybrid vehicles can work for you, and save you $$… I drive full electric ( model 3). and love it…🤗 it works for me, I tell everyone, you have to think hard and see if it’s going to work for you, road trips and charging issues turn off many, because they are so used to having a gas station on every corner… driving electric is a little different..
It’s going to help that Tesla charging stations are going to be open to all EV’s, with adapters 🤗 you’re spot on with the stat about how much a persons daily commute is…
P.S. keep the ELR.. It’s a very rare looker 🤔👍

I could see keeping the ELR, yeah you can make 9k on the car. But it's in great shape. I'm sure it's great to drive and the mileage is awesome for running around. Just the peace of mind is worth it. If you were to take the money. You will surely spend it on yet another headache vehicle so having one that, for now, and probably for quite awhile you can feel like you've got an ace in your back pocket. I'm with you 100% on this one! I'm thinking that I'm going to pick one up for the very same reasons you want to keep it.. I have plenty of other vehicles that I can drive but I think I would love having a Caddy like that for my going to town rig... ✌

Having owned 2 Chevy Volts over the past 9 years...I would check your tire pressures...and tires....Volt owners typically run 40 plus PSI on their tires. Also try your climate settings....running in ECO or Fan Only to extend the EV range. With my Volts...in the summer I have experienced up to 40 miles of range...maybe even more...even after the similar software update. In the winter, my range will drop into the 20s...and I'm running in freezing weather with winter tires which will impact the range.
This looks like a great find and nice that it was a somewhat easy issue for the dealer to resolve.

yeah I am sure it is just "guess-o-meter" stuff. I doubt the battery has degraded that much. It has been sitting for a while and you don't know how the last driver was driving it. A better measure would be to check the number of kw the battery uses.

    • @325xitgrocgetter

@@richdaley9982 Excellent points on the guess-o-meter...who knows how long the car was fully charged before the repair...after a few charging and driving cycles...it will probably give a more accurate reading. No way the battery has degraded down into the 20's on a 16. I had two Volts before my Tesla and that is one thing GM did over engineering the buffer in the battery to prevent degradation. There is like 15 to 20% total of the battery you never have access too at the top and bottom.

I think your ELR is fantastic, the white is so sharp, Interior so much nicer than my Volt. I see why you don't want to give it up. You might see range improvement when the weather warms up. My Gen.2 Volt is rated at 53 mile range, yet in Summer I see up to 65 and in Winter it plummets to 43. If it was me, I am siding with your Fiance, take the Carvana money and run.

I am a Cadillac fan, at least of their automobiles and Escalades not so much of the modern small SUVs, Following along as you take the ELR to Indiana and back would certainly be a video(s) that I would watch. I know that some of my most enjoyable cross-country trips have been in either my 1984 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible or my 1975 Eldorado convertible.

I'm glad you have to make the choice and not me. Myself, I'd wait until the other Cadillac is mine then I'd see if it's as good as the one you have and make a decision which one goes down the road.

My round trip commute is 35 miles, about 17.5 miles each way. 28 - 35 miles works. I only burn a half tank of fuel every week (this in my 2018 ES350). Very tempting to start looking for one of these

You could charge while you're at work and get even better MPG. That's if they have a plug available for you.

    • @frankcedeno9890
      @frankcedeno9890 5 місяців тому

@@cdoggyish I agree. Only problem with that is we have a conventional parking lot with no provisions for charging. There's multiple people with Teslas and Taycans that can't charge them at our building.

From experience flipping many cars to Carvana they will require you to hold the title in your personal name for at least 30 days before they will proceed. They need to be able to verify title in the auto data direct database which typically takes a while to update.

I have Chevy Volt. Your Cadillac has the same platform as my Chevy Volt. It comes with 17 kw batery. Gm.let us use 10.2kw. The rest of it is used for backup.
I see you used 9.8kw for your trip. I think you should be able to make 36 miles on one that charge.
So when you deplete your fuel, then your remaing batery will kick back on.
It depends on your driving habits. You have 10.2 kw (in your case, 9.8kw) usable battery. Depends on your driving habits how many miles can you make on that.

Hey Randy, I just saw your video on the Cadillac. I think you need to make some more videos on it and take your trip to Indiana and back and see how it does on that trip. I think you need to keep it for a while and use it because it’s obvious that you love this car so I think you need to do what you think that is best for you and just keep the car for a while and maybe sell it later but I would keep it if I were you it’s a pretty neat car. I would love to see it on your channel some more before you decide to sell it again I guess I’ll talk to you later. Have a good day.

I love the ELR, I had a 2018 CT6 plug in hybrid which was a fantastic car and was my “gateway drug into EVs”. Btw, the Lyriq is going to be able to use the Tesla network in the near future.
