    Thanks a lot from Argentine in quarentine :) I’m a beginner, and because of that and not to make noise to my neighbors, I’ve bought Aerophone go, so your tutorial are incredibly helpful. Cheers

    Run through this video again, managed to connect with Bluetooth and was then able to pay the voices in Logic Pro so problem resolved, thanks Alistair. As a sax player there's no latency, but there's a big difference with finger and tongue coordination which will take some practice to learn...but all good.Thanks, I should've followed your video more closely key was finding the Midi Studio on the Mac

    As an Android user I can confirm there is a bit of latency from my Xiaomi - not much but enough to be detectable - btw there are options in the Developer setting to change quite a few settings related to the Bluetooth Audio...by reducing sample rate and other settings is possible to improve the latency (but the audio quality is affected).
    So, I tried the USB connection using several adaptors and cables only to discover (after a couple of hours) that the USB of the Roland AE05 doesn't carry audio (unlike Bluetooth) - that's why one has to plug the headphones onto the phone to listen to the additional sounds while the USB acts as a midi interface to change the settings in the AE05 from the app.

    Really excellent tutorials, Alistair! I just wish the AEgo was worthy of your praise. Mine does not connect via BT, doesn't drain the condensation, and has a sticky key. Maybe the AE10 is built to a higher standard?

    Your videos are very helpful for learning this instrument. I was thinking of buying one, and I'm a trumpet player. I heard that you can change your fingering mode to a trumpet on the Aerophone GO using the Aerophone GO app. Is changing to trumpet fingerings also a feature on the AE-10?

    Great video! How do you record audio from an iPhone/iPad when connected to the Aerophone go app? Are you also able to monitor the sounds to know what you’re playing?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  Рік тому

      Unfortunately I don’t think the Aerophone GO app allows you to record on the same device. I have done this by taking the audio out of an iPad running the GO app into my computer.
      Many synth apps like SWAM have Inter-App Audio so you can record into GarageBand for instance.
      To monitor the audio from the GO app just plug headphones into your iPhone/ipad.

    • @isax.academy

      Some sounds are internal and directly input into an audio interface and others are software synths so they are already high quality.

    Hi, Alistair, you have the gift of teaching. Can you give me an idea of how the Aerophone works in keys and fingering compared to Ewi. I am a flute player and use the flute setup with the ewi. I usually leave it in the key of C and finger the other keys. Also what is great about the Ewi is you can turn it to any key and just use C fingering. Can you do that with the Aerophone. I play with a church worship team guitar lead usually in the key of C, G, D, E. thank you for all your help

If I use vibraphone sounds, it seems, I hear the go with a background sounds of the vibraphone. That also happen with the Marimba and other sounds? What I need to adjust? Thanks a lot

    Hello Alistair! Thank you for your in depth analysis. I wonder just one thing: does external VST software ‘know’ that you make the articulation by breath and not with the keys on the left of the keyboard? Some vst s have articulations like slurs or growling. How can you produce those sounds?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  Місяць тому

      Hi. I think you might be referring to VST that have key switches at the bottom of the keyboard which change articulations?
      In the that case the answer is no, the VST won’t read breath messages and automatically change those switches. You may well get pretty close to the same result with the way it responds to breath if you set it up correctly.
      I’ve never tried to find a solution to automatically get it to switch those key switches. Could be cool though.

    Thanks for this video. However, I still have some concerns/questions. Is it possible to connect the Roland Aerophone (AE-20) to the PC and hear it's sound via the speakers of the PC (and to be able to play along with music that comes from the PC)? Or it is only possible to connect the Aerophone to an external speaker? In that case, which speaker is recommended to play with in an home environment? In addition, can the Aerophone be connected to a stereo receiver to play it's sound via the stereo system speakers?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  28 днів тому

      Hi. Thanks for watching.
      Yes it is possible to connect the AE-20 to a computer and hear its sound. Is the PC. You’d need to make sure you have the correct driver from the Roland website on your PC.
      However you’d find it easier to connect the computer to the Aerophone via Bluetooth. A bit like connecting your computer to an external Bluetooth speaker.
      Then the sound from the computer will come through the Aerophone and you can play along with it. Plug a speaker or headphones into the Aerophone and you get both the computer and aerophone sound.
      You can’t connect the Aerophone over Bluetooth to an external speaker. There will be a latency which will make it very difficult to play.
      As far as speakers there are many. I’d suggest having a look at something like the Bose S1. Expensive yes, but remember the speaker is the voice of your Aerophone and that makes it a very important part of the whole sound experience.
      Have a listen to the Aerophone Academy podcast. We did a whole episode that included speakers etc.

    Thankyou Alistair. Can it connect via Bluetooth directly to a Bluetooth speaker?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  2 роки тому +1

      NO! This is a common question and it seems to be a perfectly reasonable suggestion. However, Bluetooth connections take a very small amount of time to travel from source to destination. You don’t notice when listening to mucus, it if you played the Aerophone via a Bluetooth speaker there’d be a very slight delay between you playing and the sound from the speaker. That would make things really tricky. A bit like you only hearing the echo of a sound rather than the sound itself.

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  Рік тому

      Hi there.
      Any Bluetooth connection will cause some latency.
      If you connect by USB to the PC there is no special app. You can use any DAW or standalone software synth. Any of those will ‘see’ the Aerophone GO just like plugging in a keyboard.
      Have a look at apps like SWAM if you want realistic instrument sounds or something like EVI-NER if you want great synth sounds.

    You are talking about the midi track of the VST but not on the actual midi track from the keyboard. Does it work on the midi track sound of the Keyboard or sound Module?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  4 роки тому +1

      Yes it can do but you'd need to be aware of the sounds on the keyboard or module and how they respond to breath control. If your keyboard will accept say CC02 or CC11 for expression control it should work. You might have to edit the sounds in the keyboard to get the best results. If not you'' probably get very limited dynamic control.

    Hello Mr. Parnell - love the series & the information is quite helpful. I do a lo (of community theatre / pit orchestra work primarily using SampleTank on my iPad (due to the compact size & convenience when using an iKlip on my stand). Presently, I've been playing on the Akai EWI 4000s & have had good results with this set up. However, I recently purchased an Aerophone GO & am having some issues with the mapping to SampleTank. I've installed the Aerophone GO app & that works fine. However, when I use SampleTank I can get the sounds / great response to fingering speed, etc but I have no ability to change the volume while I play. I either have sound or nothing. Am I missing something - maybe in the configuration of the GO app settings (or in SampleTank) that's keeping me from changing volume? Thanks in advance for any assistance / suggestions you might have.

      +Ronald Mundt Hi. Thanks for watching.
      My first question would be are you sure the Aerophone is sending breath control CC02?
      You can check this in the app under midi. The breath out should be CC02 if that’s what your ST sounds were programmed to work with?
      Or was the EWI sending just CC07 volume control? That’s not the best way but could be what was happening.
      In that case you could set the Aerophone breath out to CC07 and it should work the same as you were getting from the EWI setup.
      As I said not the best way to go but might answer your question.

There is a tube that runs all the way down the instrument inside to allow moisture to escape. There's no way to clean inside that tube but it acts to let the moisture pass out of the instrument.

    Got one issue - LATENCY with Bluetooth - how is it with an IPad Mini/iPhone 5s? I notice you have a later version of the iPad that you use. And second question would be, which one between the GO and the AE-10 would you recommend for LIVE performances. I struggled with controlling two things: bending notes and playing scales using side keys, say Eb Major or C Harmonic Minor without triggering the side keys or Octave keys in ways that I did not want. For bending notes I got two things that could help, adjusting the device settings and the harder plastic reed which I could not try there.
      For triggering keys: Can people change the sensibility of side keys, or keys you trigger because of your ergonomics, specifically? Do you have a work around for this?

      I think this is down to practice. The AE-10 body is thicker than the 05 and if you have small hands this is a consideration.
      As far as the octaves try to make small movements. Don’t lift your thumb up and down. Keep it on the centre thumb disc and rock your thumb onto the octave key.
      There is also a setting that can reduce the sensitivity of the speed of the keys.

      iSax - Alistair Parnell Thanks again. I may need to try one for over a few days, focus on it and see how much more improvement I can get out of it. I played with the sensitivity settings at the music store and also the bend settings.
      I know this is perhaps another personal issue but there was saliva running down the tube from the mouth piece. Is it recommendable to clean it after every use, like a normal horn (carefully dry the insides of the mouthpiece)? Any views on how this may impact durability as you have been using for over 2 years?

      +Marco Guida I don’t think so and if you could the delay would be rather poor I think.

    Can I connect aerophone 5 with my roland integra 7 ?

      @isax.academy  5 років тому

      Yes, but you’d need to go via a computer or a USB to midi host converter. Unfortunately the Aerophone does not have midi out.

    Hello Alistair, and thank you for the beautiful videos.
    I bought AE - 05 , but i face a BIG latency when i connect it with my android (fast)tablet, even through USB and play the application sounds.
    Can this be corrected?

    • @isax.academy
      @isax.academy  3 роки тому

      Firstly I’m afraid I never used an Android device and secondly I have heard of other people having problems with Latency on Android devices.
      Maybe some people use some
      Kind of interface that by-passes the slow audio on Android? I’m not sure. Sorry.

      Thats strange. Mine is picked up straight away. Did you try a reboot? Make sure you turn off the Aerophone completely the wait a few seconds before moving the with all the way to Bluetooth position.

      +Die Eiflerin Hi. Sorry to hear that. I hope they can improve this situation soon. I did see someone post that an OTG cable worked for them.
