Hay una ligera diferencia entre "me alegro de que..." y "me alegra que...". El primero en inglés es más como "I get happy that..." or "I am glad that...", mientras el segundo en inglés es más como "it makes me happy that...". Una diferencia muy pequeña, y el resultado final es el mismo, pero la diferencia existe. Me encantan todos tus videos y podcasts. In English, we don't say, "I get happy that..." We would say, "It makes me happy that..." Or
"I'm happy that..."
@@scorpio-girl I agree. To get happy sounds very strange to me. Get angry, annoyed, sad, upset, confused etc. all express a changing emotional state but 'happy' seems more of a disposition as in 'a happy person'. It makes me happy when my kids do well at school., sounds totally normal. The happy feeling is produced by an external action.
No, the second one does not translate into that in English

Como una respuesta breve después de oír buenas noticias sobre alguien, cual es mejor o no hay ninguna diferencia: Me alegro, me alegra.
Es casi lo mismo. Lo puedes usar igual, pero lo tendrías que decir así:
-"Me alegro de que".
-"Me alegra que".

También podrías usarlo como una expresión. Ejemplo: Que alguien te diga: Me compré un carro. Y tu le puedes responder: Me alegra o me alegra mucho o me alegro.

Also, I've never seen anyone actually SAY this, but I have noticed that, when you follow these with a sentence (generally someone ELSE doing something), if it's a gustar-form verb, you separate the two with QUE; if it's a reflexive verb, you separate them with DE QUE (me alegro, me acuerdo, .me doy cuenta, etc....).
Algo muy raro esta conjugaci'ón del verbo gustar, pues en el dicionário de la Real Academia Española el verbo es "yo gusto, tu gustas, el gusta, nos gustamos, vosotros gustáis, ellos gustan, vos...
All conjugations are possible with gustar, but they are not used for anyone "liking THINGS"
The others are used when someone likes (romantically, sentimentally) another person. For example. Me gustas. I like you. (You are pleasing to me) Te gusto. You like me. (I please you, literally). Les gustamos. They like us. (We are pleasing to them literally)
That is why conjugation charts show all the conjugations like with "regular" verbs because any conjugation is possible. Lessons that teach that only 3rd person singular and plural are used should state that this restriction only applies to people liking THINGS which is the most common use of the verb, and the use taught to all beginners first.

Vosotros is only used in Spain. Asking a Colombian to teach things used only in Spain is like asking an American to teach British English.

Pensemos en dos frases usando esto:
✅"Me alegro de que hayas venido a visitarme." (Usando "me alegro de que" + subjuntivo)
✅"Me alegra que hayas llegado a tiempo." (Usando "me alegra que" + subjuntivo)
En ambas frases, "hayas venido" y "hayas llegado" están en subjuntivo porque expresan una situación hipotética o no confirmada que causa la alegría del hablante. 🤗

I don’t understand why there are “ verbs like gustar.” To me, gustar functions like any other “normal” verb once you understand the subject of the sentence. In English we say “I like apples.” What the Spanish equivalent actually says is “Apples please me.” “Apples” is the subject, not “I.” Apples = manzanas. The verb has to match “manzanas.” Me gustan las manzanas.
You're right. The main thing that is different with verbs like gustar is that the subject usually follows the verb. It doesn't have to, but this is the most common. The reason teachers say is it different is because it is backwards compared to "to like" which is its most common translation. However, there are some other English verbs which function the same was as gustar. For example: Rotten apples disgust me. That guy disgusts me. Note that the verb is conjugated according to the thing that disgusts me, just as occurs with gustar.

Me gusta tu classe. Pero, a mi me fastidia los colores das letras de tu video. Podría ser más fácil leer letras que contrasten con el fundo. Si el fundo es escuro las letras deven ser blancas. No se pueden leer bien letras de colores claras en funndo claro. Hay que pensar en los miopes como yo.

Although it is a real fact, the emphasis is on my emotion. Also, why would I want to STATE / DECLARE that you are watching the video? You already know that. This is an aspect of the subjunctive which is often not explained very well. When you talk about an emotion, often the thing you are emotionally about is a fact, but it goes to the background with the subjuntive, because it is not the thing emphasized in the sentence ... the emotion is.
I mi me fastidian cuado mi perito "Ben" urinar en mi piso cuada yo regreso de trabajar.

Because of the word “que” which introduces a new clause. What annoys you is the fact that people drive slowly. You could say instead, “me fastidian las personas que manejan lentamente”, people who drive slowly annoy me.
