Always nice to see a new addic- I MEAN a new player join the hunter ranks! Just a couple tips if anyone haven't said it already: -If you want low rank and early high rank to be a bit more challenging I may suggest using any crafted armor other than the defender set (the one you're wearing). It has crazy good stats cause it's made to rush through the early game and get to the dlc faster. -The reason the clutchclaw wallbang doesn't work sometimes it's because it can be done only when the monster isn't enraged, you can see if the monster is in it's enraged status by looking at the eye icon in the minimap, if it's yellow you can do a wallbang, if red you cannot. -Mounting monsters can be started by doing jump and areal attacks. It's not immediate since it has an hidden meter and after you've mounted there's a bit of a wait until you can do it again.
His wall bang wasn’t working because he had no slinger ammo equipped. Look for stones or redpits or those red chunks that drop off the monsters to put in your slinger.

I'm guessing you've been told loads of times now but the new starter guardian armour made the game hilariously easy so it definitely changed new players view on the game, until they realized they needed to upgrade

It's easily the most beautiful Monster Hunter game ever made ❤❤❤ World is the game that brought Monster Hunter to the general public and really took the franchise to the next level. The game is a 10/10 for me and one of my favorite monster hunter games to date!
I did not enjoy, it playing Rise first. Rise just has better combat. every weapon, but the world is less beautiful and its way more fast paced, cuz u can use a mount to run around. Personally World feels to slow for me, and the weapon doesn't feel fluid as rise. The ranged weapons are ok tho.
@@thomasre9382 that is the purposeful difference between those games, rise is very arcadey as plenty of people say and very focused on how you manage your wirebugs, world is more important on managing your utility items before and during a fight to gain an advantage. also wirebugs make the game an adrenaline trip in general
God it's really refreshing seeing someone explore world for the first time. Reminds me of when I went through it for the first time lmfao. I'm looking forward to more mhw videos of yours if you're gonna upload more that is. :)
You'll probably learn this later on but longswords gauge will build up after every full r2 combo and with each level (up to red gauge) your helm splitter triangle + circle does more and more dmg. The iai slash you spammed increases your second gauge so you can spam your r2's and if you go into iai stance and press r2 basically works as a perfect counter dodge that does more dmg if you time it right. Those are some of the basic but longsword has some fun mechanics to dive into. Also well timed rolls can cancel out some roars depending on monster or certain weapon attacks give brief immunity to roars or mitigate dmg like greatswords shoulder bash. Hope this helps and welcome community!!! Oh almost forgot if the monster eye on the map is red you can flinch the monster into the wall with the clutch claw and press circle to move the monster towards a wall before you knock em into it. You can do this if its yellow eyed.
Long Sword, any of the Defender weapons and the Guardian armor are the reason the game is super easy. For a more challenging experience I recommend avoiding Defender/Guardian gear.
yeah I discovered later that the guardian Armor and defender weapons kind of killed my early game experience, but don't worry I discovered later how hard the difficulty was.
Love the LOTR reference in the description. Awesome video, like others have mentioned, more people getting into MHW is definitely an amazing thing to see
3:50 Oh if you're a Souls Vet, you'll do great at this game. The main things you need to know are that the roll doean't have I-frames, only the Dive does, which you have to be running to perform, Parts Break when you focus on them long enough, just like the larger beasts in Bloodborne, and you can Sever Tails like in DS1, but they unfortunately don't get you weapons, just an extra carve material. Slashing damage cuts tails, Blunt Damage stuns when you hit the head enough times. Aside from that though it's Standard Soulsboss Procedure; Learn movesets, anticipate and dodge attacks, Lay into 'em when you get an opportunity. Each weapon type has drastically different movesets with almost no shared moves, and all are equally viable, kinda like Bloodborne. Elemental damage procs a set amount on each hit, so if you're going for elemental weaknesses, maybe use Dual Blades or Insect Glaive, but if you're going for Raw Damage per hit, try Hammer or Greatsword. If ya need more info on each weapon, ask and I can explain them for you, except for Chargeblade, Who Dafuq knows how to use Chargeblade. Don't use the Defender Armor or weapons, they're there so you can get to the DLC faster on consecutive playthroughs. Edit: I just realized you already beat the game. Here's to Monster Hunter Wilds!
The roll does have I-frames, just not very many. 13 frames at 60fps. For comparison, medium rolls in dark souls 3 have 26 frames at 60fps. Quite the difference!
You've likely figured it out by now but after you do a roundhouse slash and go up to the next level of meter you can cancel the normal sheath animation with special sheath, setting you up to keep attacking. The other best animation cancel for long sword is when you have red meter, you can foresight slash to counter an attack, and before you lunge back in you can cancel into helm splitter. It's definitely one of the coolest things with long sword. Also special sheath after helm breaker to reduce recovery time. You'll be flowing into huge combos in no time.
@@pimpomdindon6626 Just after an attack you can go into Spirit Sheath by pressing RT + A. Then from the sheath you can either press B and do a double slash that will slowly recharge your spirit meter (the animation also has hyper-armor), or you can press RT and do a big counter move, but it will eat 1 level of meter if you don't time it correctly. Those are Xbox controls anyway, not sure about PC or PS.
it only gets better from here. just remember that not only do your equipment get better with each upgrade. YOU get better with each hunt. happy hunting
You need to avoid using any armour or weapon called "Defender." Those are used for players who want to skip the original game and get to the DLC faster (DLC being Iceborne, which doubles the length of the game). That great Jagras at the beginning, the yellow lizard, would usually deal about a quarter or even sometimes half of your health in damage if you have normal armour. With the Defender armour, he is basically doing less than a tenth of your total HP per hit. That Zorah Magdaros hit you took would have straight up killed you had you used normal armour, but there you only took less than 10% damage. If you keep using Defender armour and weapons, you will end up learning the game wrong and will be frustrated at the difficulty spike once you reach the DLC.
@@fxntm hes 100% right, if you play through the base game with the defender set, the start of iceborne will feel like playing a souls game with your feet

I started to play this game on PC 3 years ago and now I play this game on PC and PS4, soon on PS5, and play Monster Hunter Rise on PC and Switch. All these game versions with my gf as my duo. We got pretty addicted to this franchise.
If you want to kill a monster faster, try to tenderize it or what i like to call it giving them a new makeover, it helps to increase damage dealt to the tenderized part. Tenderizing is done by attacking with weapon when you're on the monster.
I definitely recommend looking up a longsword guide, because having an understanding of how your weapon works and what combos you can do just further increases your enjoyment of the game
I used defender in my first play through, then lost the save in my ps4. Got the game in ps5 and used defender armor, the big issue you’ll run into is 3 things, the skill ceiling which you’ll need to learn without defender armor or weapons. How difficult it will be without the armor, and how sick most of the armor looks in ice borne.
Oh man.... Watching you play is making me want to replay MHW fresh just for funsies lol. (I've beaten it all the way through the end of Iceborne twice already 😅) Welcome to MHW, new hunter!
Someone may of told you but flinch shot won't work while monsters are enraged. You should see like a red icon on your radar. When it is yellow, you are free to do it.
You can't launch the monster on the wall when it's enraged. You'll see a yellow or red eye icon on your map! Yellow: Not enraged Red: Enraged You can also change the direction it's facing by pressing the "O" button. You only have 3 uses for the directional change and anything after that it will instantly become enraged, so make sure you launch it right away after the 3 directional changes. One more thing: If you have launched it without the use of the directional changes, it won't become enraged and get to launch it again. Keep in mind that if that's the case, you can only use the directional change once because anything after that it will become enraged.
With longsword you can parry attack and follow up with a R2 to increase the spirit gage level. There's also a couple short cuts into the R2 combo that can also increase the spirit level, like when you do an air attack.
me cousin asked if i knew about this game when it first came out and i said i didn’t care it looks ass i downloaded it and honestly i fell in. love and i still play it now
Yes! I love this game. I made so many good friends. Many of my friends didn't GET the game at first, but since I was a "MH Veteran," mh3u and mh4u; so not really 😂. With my playthrough and everyone I "helped" with the main game and dlc, I had 1200 hours by the end. 2 years non-stop. It's definitely one of my favorite games of all time.
Hey man nice to see you starting the monster hunter series. The addiction starts here lol. Pretty soon youll find yourself going all the way back to the originals. Also monster hunter 3u is in my opinion the best game.
_On the map, if the little eye next to the monster is red, you can't bump him in the wall, you need to wait till it become yellow _To mount on monster, you need to do some jump attacks, and you can mount multiple times on monster but there is a cooldown
I love this game so much It took me 130+ hours to get to a certain elder dragon and i couldnt beat him I lost all of my progress since my xbox broke and then i came back I spammed the heck out of it every single day and in 50:14:00 thats the exact ammount of playtime i have on my new save i legit went to the save data screen to type the exact amount of time And now in those 50 hours i beat almost every monster I CAME BACK AND ALMOST FINISHED THE GAME IN 50 HOURS
7:04 that move only works if its not enraged, indicated by the red outline around ur mini map and on the anjanaths icon on the map turning red also by the fire coming from its mouth and general change in fighting style it employs. But even then u need to tap circle to stun it first then launch ur slinger ammo.
I started with Monster Hunter Freedom 1 and 2, but Freedom Unite and Tri were the games that truly made me fall in love with the series. Been a fan ever since (:
15:23 "the dragons in this game got eachother backs man" ... yeah... sure... lets go with that XD not wholly inaccurate, Nergigante was def tryna get Zorah's back... into his belly... XDDDDDDDD
Quick Note: Game is really easy early on and really hard at the end. Its basicly cut into three pieces called ranks. Its kinda like new game + in dark souls except each time the content doubles. Low Rank is basicly the Tutorial and extremely easy. High Rank is challenging sometimes but not too hard and g-rank/master rank is where the real game starts. You probably will also have a much easier time cause you use the special op armor which you get at the games beginning that basicly exists so players can "skip" low and high rank to get to the good stuff without grinding or anything
1:06 As a veteran hunter I tell you that it's not just the handler's lip sync that's annoying, she's downright annoying, and that's kind of her charm... maybe. Now tell me which weapon did you most enjoy using for hunting?
IF you dont want to deal with the monster Noises, Beat and collect the most part of Bazelguese armor, Earplugs talent is one the best to have. Fully Max you will not get stopped by the monster cry.
You can only launch mobs when they are not enraged, which you can see on the map when their icon is yellow (not enraged) and red (enraged). Throwing them into the wall will enrage them.
handy tip from a long sword lover just tap circle and triangle to deal chip damage at first as it gives the least end lag letting you almost always be able to time a counter
couple things, you asked about nergigante protecting magda, if i member correctly nergi is the eater of elders as such the hunters asociate it with eating the elder dragons but the reason it looks like hes protecting it has a lot to do with the story & lore & even when you finnish everything in the game and you think you understand you probably dont XD it has a lot to do with the ancient civilisation and a past war with the monsters due to their creations, & fun fact for the current state of technology of the hunters the weapons far surpass their knowledge because theyre weapons were designed by the ancient civilisation, if you truly begin to love the game i would recommend looking into the lore and backstory of monsty hunter its one of the most interesting stories ive come accross, & i would also recommend if you havnt already, go into the training area and experiment with your weapon and learn all you can because there was a lot you were missing out on in the vid & even then theres a lot of hidden tech or stuff simply just not explained in the journals, for example if you slide special with longsword into spiral jump then hit special again when you land if it hits you will get a sword charge without the effort of building up all the energy, & theres a tun of stuff in the world you can use to help with the fights, theyre not necessary but they can really help + they make fights way more fun , those & some emotes actually deal damage & one or two emotes can be used to evade attacks
I'm a bit late, but wanted to comment :3 There's a theory about why Nergigante was protecting Zorah, but I'm binging your videos so I'll wait until the last Monster Hunter vid to put the theory on it If someone else hasn't already lol
You chose the Longsword... welcome to the dark path... now master your blade become one with a blade once you master you achieved the true power of longsword..... MOTIVATION

Welcome to MHW, new hunter!
Go for it! the game is amazing
Someone may of told you but flinch shot won't work while monsters are enraged. You should see like a red icon on your radar. When it is yellow, you are free to do it.
Yeah I figured that out thank you 😁
This gives me nostalgia to when I first played mhw
First got it on xbox gamepass
gamepass is goated for that
You can't launch the monster on the wall when it's enraged. You'll see a yellow or red eye icon on your map!
Yellow: Not enraged
Red: Enraged
You can also change the direction it's facing by pressing the "O" button.
Also using dong pods won't work for launching.
With longsword you can parry attack and follow up with a R2 to increase the spirit gage level. There's also a couple short cuts into the R2 combo that can also increase the spirit level, like when you do an air attack.
Longsword is the most stylish weapon by far
me cousin asked if i knew about this game when it first came out and i said i didn’t care it looks ass i downloaded it and honestly i fell in. love and i still play it now
heyyyyy twins
It's definitely one of my favorite games of all time.
it is definitely up their for me, really enjoying the game
@@fxntm so happy to hear, keep enjoying!
Been on this drug for 4 years now XDDD Welcome fellow hunter
Glad to be here, kind of insanely hooked right now...
@@fxntm As one does :3 Good luck with big old Fatalis. :3
@@mzhyde803 new video shows how that went 👀
I also recently got addicted too this my first monster hunter game 30+ hours probably won’t stop until 100 then buy ice borne lmao
Glad you are enjoying it!!
3000 hours in, can promise you won’t stop any time soon
Hey man nice to see you starting the monster hunter series. The addiction starts here lol. Pretty soon youll find yourself going all the way back to the originals. Also monster hunter 3u is in my opinion the best game.
I kinda wanna try frontier
_On the map, if the little eye next to the monster is red, you can't bump him in the wall, you need to wait till it become yellow
_To mount on monster, you need to do some jump attacks, and you can mount multiple times on monster but there is a cooldown
I love this game so much
It took me 130+ hours to get to a certain elder dragon and i couldnt beat him
I lost all of my progress since my xbox broke and then i came back
I spammed the heck out of it every single day and in 50:14:00 thats the exact ammount of playtime i have on my new save i legit went to the save data screen to type the exact amount of time
And now in those 50 hours i beat almost every monster
I CAME BACK AND ALMOST FINISHED THE GAME IN 50 HOURS
Fxntm: I’m going with the long sword
Me: oh gee I wonder why
The Nergigante fight was so short because he did so much damage with the clutch claw and defender weapon
its short cause i cut it down :3
Good first minute of the game and he already hates the pig that is the handler.
ahahah handler is good for very little
Nergigante was doing the oppisite of protecting zorah magdoros dude was trying to get some McDonalds off of his back
he was there for fine dining
Man, that defender armor really does take away from the game. You received no damage.
Yeah it wasnt very fun to watch
I also named my palico Sirius.
Also after a cat I had in real life.
TWINSSSSSSSSSS ✌✌
Look up tutorials on how to use all weapons. Good video.
thanks very muchly :D
3:38 That perfect sacred sheath slash tho...
"that was very easy...." wears the rush armour to icebourne
Also, in order to move the monster move with the grappling hook you need ammo. 7:16 that reddish thing the drop, for an example.
Thank you I figured it out ahah
welcome to the guild hunter
glad to be here :D
7:04 that move only works if its not enraged, indicated by the red outline around ur mini map and on the anjanaths icon on the map turning red also by the fire coming from its mouth and general change in fighting style it employs. But even then u need to tap circle to stun it first then launch ur slinger ammo.
5:18 famous words before disaster my friend...
I started with Monster Hunter Freedom 1 and 2, but Freedom Unite and Tri were the games that truly made me fall in love with the series. Been a fan ever since (:
3:06 I think everyone who played MHW had the same reaction as yours Lmao.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Another victim of Defensor's Armor, pray for him
I beat velkhana I am basically him
Collaboration quests are fun. The resident evil one is good. You get to be Claire and Leon as layered amour.
my fave is definitely the witcher cross over
15:23 "the dragons in this game got eachother backs man" ... yeah... sure... lets go with that XD not wholly inaccurate, Nergigante was def tryna get Zorah's back... into his belly... XDDDDDDDD
yeah they are like best buds
The longsword :)
3:13 dang it.. that background music is nostalgic... somehow
Cant wait to join yah after you feel comfortable .there is a certain land far off in your future
“The dragons got each others backs”
Nergigante 👀👀👀
IF you dont want to deal with the monster Noises, Beat and collect the most part of Bazelguese armor, Earplugs talent is one the best to have. Fully Max you will not get stopped by the monster cry.
or you can be a chad and dodge the roars
Seeing you tank through your first Anjananth made me flash back to the pain and suffering of the 3hrs it took to beat my first😢
Nice... Hope you would enjoy it. Looking forward to your videos. :)
thank you new video soon :D
so wholesome to see new people to the game
You can only launch mobs when they are not enraged, which you can see on the map when their icon is yellow (not enraged) and red (enraged). Throwing them into the wall will enrage them.
handy tip from a long sword lover just tap circle and triangle to deal chip damage at first as it gives the least end lag letting you almost always be able to time a counter
couple things, you asked about nergigante protecting magda, if i member correctly nergi is the eater of elders as such the hunters asociate it with eating the elder dragons but the reason it looks like hes protecting it has a lot to do with the story & lore & even when you finnish everything in the game and you think you understand you probably dont XD it has a lot to do with the ancient civilisation and a past war with the monsters due to their creations, & fun fact for the current state of technology of the hunters the weapons far surpass their knowledge because theyre weapons were designed by the ancient civilisation,
if you truly begin to love the game i would recommend looking into the lore and backstory of monsty hunter its one of the most interesting stories ive come accross, & i would also recommend if you havnt already, go into the training area and experiment with your weapon and learn all you can because there was a lot you were missing out on in the vid & even then theres a lot of hidden tech or stuff simply just not explained in the journals, for example if you slide special with longsword into spiral jump then hit special again when you land if it hits you will get a sword charge without the effort of building up all the energy, & theres a tun of stuff in the world you can use to help with the fights, theyre not necessary but they can really help + they make fights way more fun
, those & some emotes actually deal damage & one or two emotes can be used to evade attacks
Defender armor makes my soul hurt
defender and guardian set is so bad man, defs not cap
OMG I HATE THE HANDLER XD
all she does is put me in near death situations
Ofc he choses longsword
nergi came there to eat zorah
I thought that and looked it up and ended up in a 5 hour lore deepdive
@@fxntm the only thing I hate on mhw is the story
@@Bladenwewz the mhw story is weak but the Monster Hunter Lore is very deep I love it
@@fxntm yeah the lore is so good. I can just sit down and read it’s lore for hours.
@@Bladenwewz 😁😁
i want him to fight Anjanath before clutch claw lol. The pain, the agony, and the suffering we endured playing MHW first time ever pre-Iceborne.
To be fair cats in monster h7nter do tend to steal so naming them after a suposed criminal works well
Even the man in 3:08 hates this woman like everyone else XD HAHAHAHAHA
It depends on the ammo of your slinger; if you are using soft ammo it won’t launch them, you need hard ammo like stones to launch them into walls
Wait until you finish off monster with helm splitter.
One of coolest moment playing LS 🎉
its like crack from what ive heard
The references in this are 🔥👌🏻
Nerg came to eat him. He is the eater of elder dragons
Nerg eats Elder dragons
@fxntm yes he is the eater of elder dragons its his whole reason for being in the new world
I'm a bit late, but wanted to comment :3
There's a theory about why Nergigante was protecting Zorah, but I'm binging your videos so I'll wait until the last Monster Hunter vid to put the theory on it
If someone else hasn't already lol
You chose the Longsword... welcome to the dark path... now master your blade become one with a blade once you master you achieved the true power of longsword..... MOTIVATION
