Great video , thanks fo share! Can you please link the website where you buy this little mesh mat? Do you use it as unique substrate? Thans again!
Yes, I use it as my growing medium...I buy them on onthegrow.net
Hi there love the show but one thing I noticed. Why don’t you black them out with a black bottom cover instead of turning them when light hits them. They need total black out. The best way for me is to cover them with a black bottom especially for the sunflowers which grow larger than most for maximum size . Just thought I’d let you know you can do that too. But great show. 😊
One reason why I don't leave my blackout domes on is because they are more susceptible to mold. I Keep them in a dark room and they get good airflow this way. I've had better luck with this method personally.
Are you seeing Resturants cut back on placing orders for microgreens? We see places are more empty than usual here in North East. I was going to look into growing microgreens but I have concern they will be first thing resturants cut as things get tighter with this economy.
I'm not sure because I don't have any restaurants as my clients. It is a luxury item that people may be cutting back on.
amazing content, thank you. How do you clean those mesh medium? scrap them and wash them by hand?
Yes, I scrape them and then wash with soap. After I soak them in a bleach water solution for about 10 minutes to sanitize.
Thank you for sharing this info. Now I know how many grams of seeds per tray. May I ask what is your tray size?
Shallow 10x20 trays
Hey! Im starting growing microgreens and wonder what you charge for your microgreens?:)
For my bulk buyer I charge:
$3.50 for my 1.5 ounce containers of broccoli, radish and spicy mix.
$4 for 1.5 ounce wasabi
$3.75 for 3 oz peas and sunflowers
What do you do for insurance coverage?
I use FLIP Insurance. It's $299 a year.
Where did you got those trays?
Bootstrap Farmer
I really appreciate you going through the process in such detail😊 (and your website with links, easy to navigate!)
Hello! Thank you for your videos and giving so much helpful information. I too have been gathering bits of information on growing microgreens from multiple sources and your channel bridged a lot of gaps.
I have a question about watering your microgreens: do you only use the hydroponic nutrients + water solution once during the growing process? Or do you use this solution every time you water your growing microgreens?
I use it every time I water my greens.
Hey! I havent had a vacation in 3 yrs!! Microgreens are very needy.
Here in Florida soil is outrageous! Promix is now $65 a bale. The silicone mats are enticing tho my first attempt didnt go well. I think Ill give it another chance.
Last time I bought dirt it was $45 a bale, but is now up to $65 here too...I knew that was the biggest expense I had to cut!
Hi there! I wanted to thank you so much for your videos and content! I’m in Butte and gearing up for my first market in June. I’ve been growing in dirt, but thanks to you I’m going to try hydroponic growing! I’m so grateful for your links to barcodes, labels, and packaging as well- it’s all been extremely helpful
I'm glad my videos have been helpful! I hope the market goes well for you :)
Thanx for sharing! A lot of helpful information. Have you ever tried growing fodder? Im looking into that to help feed our chickens, goats, and pigs since feed has gotten so expensive.
No I haven't, but I give chickens the scraps after I harvest my microgreens. I feel you on the feed prices....Blowing through $ that just ends up as compost 😆
How much do you chatge per tray to the store? Love your videos keep it going ❤
For broccoli, spicy salad mix, and purple radish I charge $3.50 for a 1.5oz container
Wasabi mustard $4 per 1.5oz container
Pea and sunflower $3.75 per 3oz container
I would charge more if I was selling directly to a customer, but these are my bulk store prices at the moment.
@@woodstinyfarm thanks much appreciated i have a restaurant that is interested im just trying to figure s fair price without scaring them off and me still making some money 😂
